So I’ve been playing with my new A314 for the last several days, and I love it. The self-effects are awesome, and it seems to work wonderfully.
There’s just one downside: I’m ridiculously allergic to it. I’ve begun to be hesitant to put it on, because the second I do, my nose starts running, I start sneezing, and I get a headache. Not the most conducive to producing the effects I’m looking for in others, to say the least. If I load up on allergy medicine, it seems to fade after couple of hours - but man, it’s terrible.
So a couple of questions: From most things I’ve read, it’s most effective if you swipe behind the ear down the neck. Would the back of the neck perhaps produce the same effects? Though, presumably, if I can’t smell it to be allergic to it, I’d be missing out on the self effects as well, which is a less than ideal situation.
Secondly: Does anyone know if there’s a common allergen in it? I’d imagine one of the essential oils, but hell if I know which one. Would it be possible to request a version of it without this in it?
Thirdly: Does anyone else have this problem? Did you find a way around it?
While I have not had similar reactions to it, I think there are ways to still wear it and lessen your reactions. I would try the back of your neck, on the back of your hands, or the crooks of your arms. Remember, the closer to your nose, the more self effects, the further away will lessen them. I also read in a journal, in the summer (or when you are wearing shorts) on the back of your knees or your ankles.
Yes you would miss out on self effects. However are you using pheromones to affect yourself or others? While its nice to get self effects, they tend to go away.
I do not know of an allergen in it. I would call Steve and discuss it with him. HE would know more about that, plus he would know if you can get a bottle without oils. I believe that, the oils help with the effect as well though.
TUTH gives me a runny nose however IT ONLY does that if I spray it on my shirt and then next day have on the same shirt like after a wild party night and Im going home Ill get hit with the TUTH and just start sneezing..
There is another thread in the mens forum discussing adverse reactions in more detail. You may want to search that out?
IIRC, the general consensus is that it is the scents rather than the mones themselves that cause reactions. Whilst this would leave you stuck for A314, one solution was to try different scent options for otherproducts till you find the ones that are tolerable to you. Although this might mean different diffusion properties. As you suggest, moving your application points can also help a bit.
Personally, I have been really lucky with Androtics fragrances and have had few problems beyond short-lived snuffles. I usually have to be really careful with scents because of skin and respiratory irritations.
If you feel you are having an adverse reaction to any product you should discontinue use. However I’m not really sure that those types of allergic reactions make sense for an oil based product. If it was a rash or swelling then it’d make more sense, but this doesn’t really seem to fit.
What other things are you allergic to and what is the general reaction?
maybe it’s the scent carrier? He could be reacting to akuto. I’d suggest trying MX297 or even custom ordering something in a to-go in akuto scent to see if that’s it.
One of the most violent reactions I’ve ever had was to an oil-based skin lotion. I’d used its water based equivalent for some time before without problems but didn’t bother to look when I got a new bottle.
Within a few minutes I had streaming eyes and nose, the skin on my shoulders, back and legs was itching to the point of agony and i wanted to get a wire brush and scrub it off, it reddened rapidly and my then partner had more or less to force me into a shower and wash, wash and wash me for some time before the feeling bagan to subside.
I lost quite a bit of skin over the next week or so as well. Came off in big chunks!
Never again!
The worst I’ve had with A314 is a very mild itching on the application points behind my ear and traced down my neck. Barely troubles me. Wrists, no probs!
I apply behind my neck. I used to apply behind my ears, but I always got itching and a rash from applying it there. Never a runny nose. I have a female coworker that used to get headaches from using it, but they went away.
