Amish: do you ever wonder if any of them hijack horses and buggies?

u guys ever wonder if in the Amish commnunity, any of them hijack horses and buggies? And if the amish person reports it stolen to the police, the police ask : what does the thief look like? hmmmm beard, black hat, white, well u know they all look alike…just wondering…

lol, i’m deep in amish country here in north indiana. I havent heard any reports of stolen buggies… I would lose it though if I read it in the paper one day. Jebadiah Graber wanted for assult/battery. Suspect known to be armed and dangerous (carrying a pitch fork fleaing east-ward, slowly) in a horse an carriage (horse is brown with some white spots).

haha nos thats an awesome story  . ironically like a few mins b4 i wrote this post i was watching Weird Al’s- Amish Paradise. that song is pretty badass. but amish ppl kinda scare me.. after i watched a special on how an amish girl was gang raped by her older brothers and was punished for coming forward about it. the boys were not looked down upon in the community either just because they pray’d and told there sins to god. she was banished from there amish country because she took the case to court. it was kinda disturbing how strange amish ppl r (no offense to amish ppl or amish supporters on the forum its just my own little opinion).

Yeah, the Amish are definately on some other shit, but incestral rape/molestation is common within the modern world as well. People are fucked up anywhere you go. We all have our demons that wish to break free, but it’s a matter of subduing them through self discipline. I think the common misperception about all sin being considered as equal in the eyes of God is what causes these more disturbing outbursts amongst any religious community. Whenever you suppress the innate desires of man, including the very smallest of “sins” ala lying, cheating, stealing, “fornication”, etc. the curiousity and urges build up to explode into a much bigger “sin” ala incest, rape, torture, murder, etc. This isn’t to say that I condone lying, cheating, and stealing, but most religious people have a tendency to be obsessed about their nature, instead of just being the best they can be in eyes of God. In other words, when you live a life sheltered from the world, your desire and curiosity is much stronger than those who are regularly exposed to the functions of humanity. While I am a Christian and strive to be “righteous,” I still have a carnal nature that wants to “sin,” and I do on a daily basis. I also find myself less inclined to have urges to kill, or to want to force myself upon a woman (every guy has these urges, you’d be lying to yourself if you said you didn’t) by letting go of my anger, and by having sexual relations with a woman if it brings me to that point. Religious folk have this idea that they will reach perfection, especially Christians, which is false and contradictory. If we could reach perfection, then there wouldn’t be a need for spiritual icons such as Jesus of Nazareth, The Prophet Muhammed, Buddah, or the patriarchs. I just think on a psychological level, people will act on their carnal urges if suppressed long enough. Of course, cultural and environmental issues definately play a role here.
