Any british guys here?

Hi
I went on a date with a british guy who came from the UK to work in my country. Before our date ended, he said he had a great time and kissed me on the cheek. I’ve never had that experience before. What does that mean? Im getting the feeling that he’s not interested and he just wants to be friends. I couldnt really tell much from his body landuage either. Please advise. Thanks!

British guy here, Joymojo. As you described it, the kiss on the cheek and the ‘I had a great time’ remark was open-ended. If I did that, I’d be feeling open to taking it further, but… not committed either way. If it doesn’t work, I could walk away with very little emotional investment in this fledgling relationship.

Did you pay attention to where his hands were? Did he lean in to kiss you without touching you with his hands? If I’m saying goodbye to a girl I like, I normally place a hand on her arm or stroke her arm or shoulder. I do that to most of the girls I call friends. If I decide to call you a close friend, I’ve got no problem with an ‘A’ hug and a short embrace, maybe a kiss on the cheek. Anything more intimate and I’m really interested in you.

Last question. Did he say he wanted to see you again?

He could just be the shy type, or he thought, ‘I’ve done my part, now I’m leaving the ball in your court.’ It’s up to you now to pass it back.

I could be wrong, but that’s the impression I get.

I think he kissed my cheek without touching me.

He didnt say he wanted to see me again. Although I did ask if we would be meeting again and he said of course? We’re be going out again but then again he could be just treating me as a friend. When we chat online and stuff, he doesnt flirt. Usually when guys say flirtatious stuff, I can tell they’re interested.

I British guy too!

In my opinion. If you do actual meet up in person again then he is interested in you
Majority of the time, guys don’t look at girls as friends. I would say communication is key, I like it when straight up the girl and I tell it how it is. It saves a lot of mind games and wondering. He might be just shy, and he most likely will be thinking the same things your thinking. I would say just go with the flow, and see how it unfolds in due course

What I’m telling you is just an opinion, Joymojo, so please don’t take it as gospel.

This doesn’t sound like a guy who is romantically interested in you. Did he flirt online before the date? Did the flirting stop afterwards? You may be in the friend box, or he may be trying to play the gentleman and build up to it slowly.

If I were you, I wouldn’t ask him on another date at point-blank range, but I’d drop little comments when you’re chatting online like: ‘I really enjoyed our date’.

He may warm up and respond with a little heat. If he stays cool, I doubt he’s interested in a romantic sense.
