I am considering making my own perfume, with chemical aromas, but I am having a hard time finding european suppliers, and since I want to buy very small amounts, the postage is too high if its not in the EU…
Also, are there any notes especially well suited for mixing with mones? I like perfumes that are darkly floral, with as little freshness as possible, since my nose thinks anything citrus or “grassy” smells like soap
I used Scentfriends, they have a good supply. They use DHL, so shipping is expensive though. Made a couple of my own fragrances with them. Got something that is similar to “fresh mountain air”, “warhammer 40k” and some greek summer house…
I also make my own fragrances. (Products with pheromones, products with my own substances which act a bit like pheromones and products with scents only.)
I order from some websites in my country and some international sites. Mostly I order bigger amounts of essential oils that I use a lot and try to combine it with other scents (and basic ingredients like for emulsion, conservation etc) I want to use.
For my most used mixes I use neroli and hints of some other cytrus notes. For heavy pheromones products I mostly use musky/amber-like scents, like ambroxide (bit ambergris like), cashmeran, bornafix and super E iso.
I’ve only gotten as far as adding Hedione and basic scent packages to mixes. I have perfumer’s alcohol. However interested in building some test accords from fragrance components. Have been poking around perfumersapprentice.com lately. Could use some guidance on where to start with this.
When you really want to start making your own perfume, it’s probably best to read/watch recipes from people who do that more often.
It’s a balance of notes (high, middle, low), which is fun to play around with. I look on fragrantica.com when I am looking for some specific scent, since they mention the different notes in well known perfumes.
If you want to make a perfume that lasts longer/spreads better on the skin/is better conserved/reaches further etc, the alcohol and oils should be combined with preservatives, emulsifiers and other ingredients that do something specific.
