There seem to be people who get their cheap thrills by dissing others. That interesting forum term “Troll” comes to mind. eBay has had similar problems with some buyers signing up eveidently for the sole purpose of negging everyone they could (and I suspect never paying for anything they “won.”). The outcry from that sparked the recent change in eBay policies where they are now a lot more willing to remove neg feedback.
I wouldn’t get bent about it too much. There are, as I have discovered in my many years, people out there who just seem to have no other life… They aren’t worth your effort, or your concern.

I’m catholic and I just browsed a ‘christian chat’ site some hours ago and I tell you the insults that went on that site - even racist remarks against other denominations and even religions - reminded me of Gandhi’s comment about some Christians. After I complained to a mod, I got booted out from the chat..

I never studied or read Chesterton sorry but I think I read that quote, and agree somewhat..
Today’s church readings were about not trusting in men… kind of the X-Files’ trust no-one (but trust in God only). Because people can let you down so it’s good not to let yourself be affected by them. Plus the Gospel was all about when people insult you (beatitudes), it’s good…

Irony, you bet it is. Here we have a thread that asks where Lor disapeared to and the response back is to seek out Lor’s thread Be Brave, not cowardly. This thread criticizes those who are cowardly when they neg someone to not stand tall enough to sign their name.
My response to Ail on the Where’s Lor? thread was my opinion of how she responded. It was not some anonymous neg without a face. No: I chose to stand tall and give Ail the feedback that I stand by with my name in the open. I’m OK if she or anyone else disagrees with it. That is their right. Carrie, very openly did and respect goes to her and anyone else who follows suit. That’s what debating and standing up for your ideals and beliefs is all about.
However, when someone goes and neg’s me anonymously just proves that they are ignorant and their personal opinion is muted by their lack of confidence to come forward with a name. I pity anyone who makes a senseless comment while remaining faceless. You are the person we all detest. You are the reason for this thread.

I think this reputation system needs to be either signed, or gone. I prefer gone actually.
I do not see why we’d have something that is anonymous, already showing signs that it can be abused and get some authentic people called descriptives, anonymously.
This is a forum where people have almost put their real names, and posts that venture on personal. Nothing anonymous there ..
I hope she comes back. She is a real asset to the community here.

@Mak, I agree with you on removing this reputation system. Or at the very least make it non-anonymous.
