Just for shits and giggles what do you think should be the best movie of the year and why?
my vote: District 9
reason: creativity. this seems to be the only movie this year that wasn’t a prequel/sequel/remake/recylcled script deal.
I agree, they spun an orrginal story and kept it real. Alot of movies suffer from over sensationalization these days.
On a side note, Zombiland should be runner up. It was entertaining watch them make fun of the zombi genra 
And still keep a semi real vibe to it.
District 9 was pretty good… didn’t browbeat you too heavily with its message or rely excessively on special effects to produce drama either.
i’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about “precious” anyone see it yet?
Not yet, but the trailers look promising.
I think Paranormal Activity was the best horror documentary movie film that came out for 2009 (:
I’m a 20 yr old college student so I may be a little biased but I thought “the hangover” was hilarious without being too stupid; it gets my vote. District 9 was my second favorite and almost tied with the hangover.
I also just wanted to note a lot of people (not just kids) thought “Up” was amazing. I thought it was ok. And never saw where the wild things are but it was supposed to be a really interestingly done movie.
Inglourious basterds was good but not the best, probably in my top 4 or 5 of 2009.
The Road looks pretty good.
District 9 was really good imo. I would probably have to say that, but in the last month Ive watched Inglourious basterds(christoph waltz = amazing) and 9 which was a good animated movie, these two are also amazing imo.
Worst would have to go to Gamer 
. I understood the whole concept of the movie, but it was still very very odd. I stayed awake throughout the entire movie so if that counts for something. :o
district 9 was alright but i dont think it was anywere close to Taken. I mean it was a real life 007 movie that actually put James Bond movies to shame.
Meh, I thought it was good, but not the “best movie of the year” good. I want to see 500 days of summer, or up in the air. Taken was pretty bad-ass.
the time traveler’s wife was pretty good for a chick flick, but don’t watch it if you’ve had a death in the family recently.
yah, Taken man, that was a badass movie too. way better than recent james bond movies. come on…the last two bond movies sucked…what was it about? signing contracts or something? ooooooo
