As a nice change of pace from possible presidential follies and backdoor access, i thought we could take a second for the lighter side of life. That being said…
What’s your favorite Disney movie of all time and what do you feel is the worst Disney sequel ever released. Aaaaaand discuss.
I have boys and they never were really into Disney. They never realy watched a lot of TV except for the god aweful power rangers and teenage ninja turtles phase My favorite movie for kids was Milo and Otis (not disney) They mostly played outside till they were old enough for video games.
My favorite Disney film is a toss up between Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood (Prince John is a riot), and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow short. I’m much more of a fan of the old-style animation than the newer style that Disney has used since… Oliver and Company (I had to look that up, FYI).
I consider Finding Nemo to be more a Pixar movie than a Disney movie. It at least has Pixar’s style written all over it.
Well although I enjoyed the Pirate movies, I’m not even going to count them in this because they became so much more mainstream than all the rest.
I was always a fan of Disney movies growing up. As far as live action Disney movies I really enjoyed Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale. When it comes to animated Disney it is a toss up between Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. When I was a little girl I was convinced I was going to grow up to be Belle.
I’ve never been too fond of any of the animated Disney sequels. They just didn’t have the same quality in acting, story, or animation. I was always disappointed when I watched one of them. So I’m not sure how to pick a least favorite.
Mmk, this one isn’t a Disney film, but i was curious if anyone else watched it as a kid? The Last Unicorn. Oh yeah. That movie MESSED ME UP! That creepy tree hugging him and squishing him between it’s tree breasts, threatening to never let go… eeeeeeeeeeeeh. that was me shivering I watched it again recently and it’s a pretty messed up movie. But i still liked it. Oh, and for those who HAVE seen it, here’s a treat i found:
I’m old so a “real” WD movie I liked growing up was “The Adventures of Danial Boone” But for more recent ones:
“No Country for Old Men”.
OK, I know it was released by Miramax.
But, Disney owns:
Walt Disney Pictures Touchstone PicturesHollywood PicturesMiramax FilmsPixar So, Disney uses some of those other names to release “NC-17” films. Walt must be spinning in his Cryo-jar.
Since we are broadening this out, one of my favorite movies of all time is Second Hand Lions, with Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, and Haley Osmet. Awesome, touching, funny movie!
You suck! LOL…I got to go to Disneyland when I was six, the only thing I can remember is the spinning teacups…ugh. Still want to go to Disney World.
That’s one of my wife’s favorite movies, I bought her the special edition DVD for her birthday. Definitely an odd one…also during that time/phase was Flight of Dragons (loosely based on the book The Dragon and the George), and then live action had Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. (Henson at his creepiest)
A few other oldies that come to mind:
Goonies
Legend
Pete’s Dragon
Never-Ending Story (m-i-l has a dog that looks just like the one in the movie)
As far as Disney hits, mine is Robin Hood. The snake cracks me up every time.
Modern hit, for me (Disney/non-Disney) Wall-E was awesome! Also loved Monsters, Inc., was absolutely amazed that they didn’t make a sequel to that, but they’re coming out with something similar, Monsters vs. Aliens. Hmm…
Worst sequels? Any of the Aladdin ones. The first was okay, but c’mon…but it’s really close with the million Land Before Time movies!
Man, this has got me thinking about all the great cartoons I loved as a kid, like Transformers (original, maybe Beast Wars, that’s it), M.A.S.K., He-Man, Snorks, Heathcliff, Garfield…plus I remember all of the Sundays spent watching the Three Stooges…good times…
I love Disneyland, and go to Tokyo Disneyland everytime I go and visit Japan. I bet I am one of the only members on here that have gone to DisneySea. DisneySea opened up a few years ago in Tokyo, and is the waterpark version of Disneyland. DisneySea is literally right next door to Disneyland, and it is full of water rides, cool shows. etc. etc. I must’ve been to Japan about 30 times in my life . I know I’m a tad spoiled by my grandparents, but I never ask them to buy the plane tickets to Tokyo :o. I am half japanese and my grandparents own a nice condo at one of the best and most convienent locations ever because everything is within walking distance. I am not going this year though because it gets a little old after awhile and I want to save up tons of money to pay for the rest of my college, so I’ll be working my tail off in the summer.
As far as Disney movies I like Toy Story a lot. Dunno why but I do . One of my favorite non Disney movie is “V for Vendetta”.
Luckily with my ID I can also get into Tokyo Disney for free and the other parks out there. That also includes the people I let in, so fly me over there and I’ll get you in. J/k man.
