ive been lookin around and am wondering what mp3/video players yall use. Right now, im sporting a 8 gb creative zen v +. I like it better than my old nano as it has fm/am radio and support for video clips. it is also half the size
i’ve been using the archos multimedia players. some models have up to 160 gb hard drives. i’ve copied dvd’s and shows from my tivo onto mine. i love them. i do not know why these are not more popular.
it’s really a hard decision, but I think the best are ipod from Apple, Zen from Creative, and the new Zune from microsoft.
I have the 2gb ipod nano 1st gen, I like it especially because I don’t like to have my favorite videos where ever I go ( it sounds strange but when you are in college you don’t want to sit in the library watching South Park for three hours!!
) and I like the click wheel in the ipod.
Hands down, iriver products are the best for this. Read some comparative reviews. I meet lots of people with various ipod clones, and when I show them my iriver and it’s features, they go out and buy one and soon throw their old one away, then, next time they see me they tell me how happy they are to have one. Especially if you use it for recording.
I kid you not.
Sheesh that sounded like a low budget ad. But I’m sincere, and not telling you for any ulterior motive.
OTOH, whatever you buy (if it’s not from iriver), if you really want to be happy with it spray yourself with P93 a few times, and refuse to listen to anyone who has anything from iriver.
Cheers,
Quicksilver
I got an 8gb Sansa e280r so I could use Rhapsody. They’re not sold at many places. Best Buy is one of the few dealers, and I hate that store. I got it for about $199 there.
The player is a nifty little thing, but it could be better. Rhapsody is amazing! Over 3 million songs in 192kbps AAC format (higher quality than Apple’s 160kbps AAC) for a flat monthly fee. Rhapsody works on 3 “devices” and 3 computers. There’s so much selection there I often find myself having no idea what to listen to. ![]()
I second that! There is hardly any player which can match the features of iRiver. iPod is at the bottom of the pile in terms of features but at the top in terms of user friendliness. Overall however iRiver is a winner by a huge margin. Direct recording to mp3 format with superb sound quality!! How do you beat that?
Many of the Creative Zen got an line in to record or you can record from the radio too, but the quality is not that good, it’s just usable, any way I don’t listen to the radio (I didn’t save any radio station in my car’s stereo).
that’s true I mean the battery life for the ipod isn’t that amazing but the new nano got more than 20 hours battery life and that’s not bad at all, and I’m already subscribed to many pod casts. also I like the small size of the nano because I don’t need something bulky like the bigger ipod (my backpack is already filled with a lot of stuff) and I think it’s like choosing a digital camera; it depends on what you really need ![]()
That’s what it comes down to I guess! I still hate the idea of how they try to conform their users to a particular style and a particular way of listening and getting music (where is the ‘hip & cool’ in that?).
I don’t like that I have to use iTunes to put music in it. Other softwares can be used but none of the fixes allow the UMS feature (so it can be used as any other hard drive to just store music in different folders). That’s another great thing about iRiver.
Now the sound quality of Ipod is okay. But iAudio, iRiver, Archos and even Creative have better sound quality (with iAudio leading the pack in my opinion). Try any of these with a decent quality headphone (Sennheiser, Shure etc) headphone and be prepared to blow away.
i see a lot of people like iriver!
i was lookin at taht but with only 2gb storage (corect me if im wrong plz) i passed it up.
This brings back memories of Boom boxes that I carried on my shoulder with “Base Boast” with the volume all the way up. Black Sabbath sweet leaf, drooping Mescaline and going to see Children of the Corn with my best friend Tom.
iRiver hard drive based players have more storage.

I have one of these things that uses these flat silver disks and it cost me $3 at a yard sale…
I bought me a 30gig ZUNE off a Meth head for $50 loaded with music too. It is great so far.
haveing forum issues. just seeing if I can post in the lounge right now.
Now that’s a deal!!
Zune looks very nice with the wireless music sharing… but I have that thing for Microsoft’s products ![]()
Yeah I am not a fan of Microsoft either, but who could turn down a poor desperate meth addict trying to get a fix?
lolol meth is some fucked up shit i stay waaay away from that stuff
