Also I’m starting to find skincare products that don’t cost a mint and actually seem to DO what they purport to do. For those of you (like Tisha ) who love their lotions and such, let me put in some links:
Albagen is a new line of products, just getting started and it’s really quite incredible. I had occasion to sit in on a presentation by the head of the company recently and get a trial lip balm and the stuff is just wonderful. It literally increases the albumin in the skin. Within seconds of applying the lip balm I felt my lips plumping and becoming moist and smooth - and STAYING that way, through eating and drinking, for hours.
I’m gonna say we need to give this company our support, because the same biotech that he’s applying to skin care, he also wants to apply to improving cancer treatment. It’s a similar application, but the FDA requires huge, expensive clinical trials, and so those trials have to be funded. Put it like this, if I had the money, I’d fund him. That’s how impressed I was with the science. And so the cosmeceutical sales will be plowed into funding these clinical trials on cancer research.
The derma e products have retexturizing and lifting products, as well as stuff to heal all manner of skin problems from rosacea to eczema to psoriasis - all with natural ingredients. It feels so smooth going on, too. And it’s not particularly expensive - I found my first two products in Kroger’s, of all places. Vitamin Shoppe also carries them and I’m going tomorrow in search of another product.
Albagen has 2 different strengths of face/body moisturizers. The regular strength is of course the cheapest, and comes in:
1oz=$19
2.4oz=$39
4.4oz=$65
lip balm=$6
reg strength shampoo 4.4oz=not sure; think there is a website error
It’s a bit pricy but I can tell you it 1) doesn’t take much, 2) lasts a looong time, 3) does what it says.
Derma-e has a TON of products. I got the DMAE - Alpha Lipoic - C-Ester Retexturizing Crème which lists for $22.50 for 2 oz which is a big jar. They have a 2oz scar gel (considering for belly) for $16.95. I also got a Tea Tree and E Antiseptic Crème lists for $12.50 at 4oz. They have a free sampler (13 one-shot samples) if you pay $4.95 shipping. I’m looking to find Ester-C® Moisturizing Crème with E Skin Recovery Complex , 2 oz $18.95
There’s an online skin evaluator to recommend possible products for you, too.
A refresher spritz of 397, and we were out to dinner tonight. Again, nothing big; same clothing, no makeup, hair in a ponytail. Went to the local Cracker Barrel and got gonzo service.
Hubby was tired so we came home after.
In case peeps are wondering why we eat out so much, it’s because we are slooooowly in process of remodeling the house and the stove in the kitchen no longer functions properly. (We have two settings: barely noticeable and supernova heat.) Kitchen especially needs a major overhaul - new appliances, new flooring, new counters. So when we get tired of nuking things we go out. Especially in summer when using the regular oven (which heats up the house) is out of the question.
And ladies, the derma-e dermabrasion scrub is DA BOMB! I just used it and dang if all that post-op sandpaper skin is just GONE! W00T!!! I’ve been trying scrubs and face masks and buffer pads and all kindsa $#!^ and this is the first stuff that WORKED!!! I can’t stop feeling my face!
Had one like this when I first moved out of the parental domicile. We called it “off” and “flamethrower”. Had a flame 4 inches high. Just the sort of appliance you want a bunch of 18/19 yr olds to have . . .
Congrat! You’ll be smiling lots now! I know that was getting to you. Kisses on you beautiful, smooth cheek. You Rocksta!
And the good news is that my face STILL feels great today! I’m seriously into these products!
Really, it’s something that has always happened when I’ve had surgery of any kind. But it’s NEVER lasted THIS long before. It’s been, what? 10.5 months! Which in turn tells me how serious that surgery really was, I guess. It was well after the fact before I truly began to realize that the thing might really have killed me, or comprehended that it took TWO surgeons - a specialist and a general surgeon - to get that thing outta me.
I doubt I’ll be testing mones today unless it’s - ahem - some of the more private stuff. We are under a severe Tstorm watch with a line headed our way and not that far off. We’ll likely stay under roof at least until it blows by. And when it gets close I’ll log off and shut down my puter.
As a matter of fact, so far, yes. Even to having a cool, rainy, laze-about Sunday for hubby to rest. Started off getting hot, but a bow echo came in - weakening drastically as it got to us - gave us cool winds, rain, just enough donder und blitzen to add atmosphere - then strengthened again the other side of us! Go figure… The Big Guy Upstairs knows what he’s doing without all my worry and fret, I guess.
So today I feel good but more… um, well, lazy than yesterday. It isn’t that I couldn’t get up and do serious activity as much as it is that I’m going with the flow of the weather. Although I’m starting to feel like getting out and about. We did Chinese takeout for dinner and fixed lunch in, so there’s no real need. I dunno. I’ve been reading, heh. Haven’t really stopped to do that in awhile.
Now I need to concentrate on renewing the friendship with my mentor. Or maybe I need to rephrase: I need to concentrate on the renewed friendship with my mentor? That sound right?
Did not do mone testing today. Did do supplements, face care, and low carb lifestyle (although it’s hard to do when your hubby presents you with your favorite frozen yogurt as a gift). :o
Haha, my first apartment’s stove was like this too! It ran ~225 degrees hotter than selected (until the day it destroyed the oven thermometer, then we didn’t know anymore )… or just decided to never heat up at all. I met the people who moved in next door shortly before we moved out and apparently a week after the next set of people moved into our place the oven produced a fireball that burned up the kitchen a bit and made the place uninhabitable for a couple weeks.
OMG!!! You made me laugh so hard, I went to coughing! I know people that had that happen to them - so funny. One time, we ran out of anything that would produce a tiny flame to light cigarettes; no matches, no lighters - nothing. For our own safety, we had a clicky spark thingamajig to light the stove and so used that. Yeah, real bright. Anyway, we’re all completely compromised on various perception altering indulgences, and Desiree goes to light her cig. And just drops her face over the jet with the cig in her mouth - we were all watching (10 people lived in this house) and her hair just went up in flames!!! < Was exactly our reactions, she whipped her head up and we started laughing to choking, rolling on floor, clutching sides etc. She had miraculously avoided skin contact with the flame but! -
The space between her pupil line (? 3"approx between pupils?) she had burnt off eyelashes, eyebrows and burnt a path over the top of her head! She scorched a mullet in! OMG so funny, so ridiculous that no-one noticed the smell of burning hair UNTIL she started her tantrum. This is priceless, remembering those things and still getting a huge laugh out of it.
It took a year for her hair to look decent. 2 months for the eyelashes and brows.
OK life is indeed interesting. Yesterday was cool, cloudy, rainy, etc. and I was drowsy all day but had some energy and did get up at a reasonable hour. I did not use any mones.
Today is hot and sunny. I slept solidly past lunch and while I have some energy, feel frustrated that I cannot come up with any errands to run to get me out and about (which I want to do, but thus have no reason to do). No mones yet, since there’s no sense in wasting an experimone unless I’m going out.
So SOMETHING is going on with that experimone and my energy levels, because I haven’t changed my nutritional supplementation.
Ugh. I just got outside in the yard for a few minutes doing some odds and ends - no more than maybe 5-10 mins - and came in soaked in sweat and headachy despite having been drinking water all afternoon. The temps are mid-90s with heat indices in the 100s. I think maybe staying inside and quiet is a GOOD idea today.
Yes absolutely. P74 has been reported to just sack the energy out of you after a few hours. However this particular effect can be easily circumvented with a good multi-vitamin or some nootropics.
HAHAHAHAHAHA oh my god this was the greatest mental image to play out in my head ever!! I can totally see some people I know making this same mistake, which makes it even better!! The mental image of the stove induced mullet… ohhhh, man. That’s amazing.
The last house I lived in before my current apartment had a match light stove/oven - no pilot light or even a handy clicky thingy The stove, not so bad with some experience. (except when the butane lighter ran out and you had to stick your hand with a lit regular lighter or worse yet, a match into the line of the gas…) The oven… well, I put something in the oven once in the year I lived there… and asked someone else to light it. I heard that the girl who used to live in my room made the severe mistake of letting the oven fill up with gas for a couple minutes before trying to light it (to light it properly, you needed to let the gas run for 10-15 seconds). Her eyebrows… well… she didn’t have any for awhile. No mullets though - I bet she’d sure be happy to hear your story!!!
Why do you need any other reason to go out, other than you want to? Isn’t that indication of your improving health? Why wouldn’t you go out and stimulate (no sniggering, guffaws or whatever, peeps! ) your circulation and happy state of mind??? Library, park, breve - whatever! Treat yourself with the simplest of pleasures. Fresh air and sunshine. “Go outside, there’s plenty of people in Washington that would be grateful to have your sunshine” Sorry - play on the “starving kids” bs our parents used to say over inedible food.
