Boudicca experiements

Am likely to be offline awhile. I seem to have caught a rather nasty lower intestinal bug, and I’m doing everything I can to get well before this next weekend, when I am a guest of honor at a convention. Been planning this for nearly a year and I’m NOT gonna let some D@#^ bug stop me!

So it’s rest, fluids, tummy meds and rehab for a few days.

Remember live culture yogurt.

Not got that, and only doing liquids today anyway. But I DO have some high potency acidophilus capsules. I can take one of those in a little while.

Dang I feel crappy (excuse the pun). But I still feel better than I did last night, which is kinda bad when you think about it.

That’s all you need, then. And rest. And spoiling.

I am very new, but I have used another product, by Cutler for many years, I never developed a resistance to it and my husband never did either. He still loves it. I found that if I kept the sprays down- kept it to enough for an effect but no more, it just became part of my scent and we both enjoyed it. Honestly I have used it at least seven yesrs or more and it became just past of my signature to him but he still responds to it. and we both can notice when I do not use it. I just wanted to try new things.

Shook my tum buggum in time to go to an established convention where I was one of the guests of honor. It went fantastically well, and I had many many male fans playing puppy dog.:cool:

Got into a conversation with some friends in the which I (wearing Shine, A314, and MX397 - yes, all together; I decided it was time to try adding the MX397 into my mix, which worked bangup all weekend) asked a telling question. “Do I come across as an alpha female?”

The response was quite interesting.

3 men and 1 woman were of the opinion that I was NOT an alpha female, BUT they described me as a “confident, intelligent, attractive woman” who “did not suffer fools gladly” but “was compassionate enough not to rip 'em [the fools] a new one right off.”

If that’s NOT the definition of an alpha female, I don’t know what IS. I’m thinking they equate “alpha female”=“b!tch” and no, I don’t come across as a b!tch. I choose not to be that way if I can help it (pain and/or hormones can override this, as folks on this forum have unfortunate reason to know). So I wouldn’t expect to appear that way to others.

I had men and women at this con calling me “sexy thang” and “sexy beast” which shocked me but dang did I go with it! I’ve lost weight between the herbs, the gym, and the low-carb diet, and learned how to dress my body to accentuate my positives and minimize the “mushroom” (which IS smaller anyway). I’ve also picked out (based partly on my own assessment and partly on the reactions of other people) the colors that work for me and the styles of jewelry that complement these things. I finished off the confidence by having my nails done in a bright pink and highlights put in my hair the day before going to the conference.

Add the power mones into the mix and there was no stopping me. Friday night alone I started at 3pm and went until midnight with only a break for dinner, in talks, panels, discussion groups, etc. Then it ended up being 2:30am before I got back to my hotel room because I couldn’t get more than about 10-15 feet before someone would grab me and pull me aside for a question or a discussion or “you gotta come with me and have a drink, I haven’t seen you in forever” etc. etc.

Pheromone mix:

3x MX397 (Saturday I wore only 2 and was initially perceived as slightly less impressive/“leaderly” until I added more) to chest
1x A314 to chest
3-4x IS distributed over chest and hair (reapplied periodically as I had time)
1x IO smeared btwn wrists
1x IH smeared btwn wrists

On Friday I also used 2x IS/b.

Yes, I was a walking pheromone lab, and it had great fx especially when combined with the increased confidence in my appearance.

Sales were the biggest I’ve had yet. :open_mouth:

LOL! :smiley::cool:

YAAY, for Boo! Now you gotta, gotta, gotta be happy about this new baseline for HAPPY! Revel in the awesomeness of you.

I think that most people equate ‘alpha female’ with corporate bitch. Sad that they forget the ringleader in any sphere, the person that people defer to, the “must invite - they’ll bring a crowd”; are alpha’s.

You must be feeling ultra motivated now that you know all the sweat and tears have paid off! Now, whenever you’re feeling blue about a possible plateau (and they happen - everything needs to catch up, balance and stabilize) just remember this victory. It seems to me that you’re over the hardest and steepest of the road to recovery.

I’m so glad that this convention, which took some preparation - went so fantastically for you!

YEEEESSSSS!!!

Right. See, I used to have horses - in particular, I preferred mares. And the herd is always directed by - no, NOT the alpha stallion, the ALPHA MARE. And that’s what I think of when I think of alpha female.

Well, frankly right now I’m dead-dog tired. But then, so is my hubby (he entertains the kids), so I don’t feel too bad about that. I plan on hitting the sack as soon as I’m convinced I can get to sleep (still kinda hyper), and sleeping in tomorrow and napping in the afternoon, lol. I should be ok after that.

Next month is the 1 year anniversary of my main surgery, and I’m told that after that AND NOT BEFORE (though possibly after), I should have a sudden upward surge of improvement, strength, and endurance.

Which means I’ll only get better.

It’s interesting to see how different people define “alpha”. It’s one of those things that seems like it shouldn’t be subjective but it is! I agree with you though - all those descriptions sound like alpha to me. Interesting.

Congrats!!!

Re: alpha: I think of alpha anything (male or female) as the person others listen to, try to emulate and are willing to allow to take the lead on decisions. Not necessarily in a “bitch” way, but you know the one friend you always had growing up (everyone had at least one of these, or some of us may have been one of these!) who was always doing the play suggesting and everyone else was agreeing? That’s what I’d call an alpha.

So just to make sure I understand, the mix didn’t work. They didn’t see you as an alpha female so its back to the drawing board for you . Sounds to me like you had a stellar event!

ROTFL Actually I projected EXACTLY the image I wanted to project. So yes, the mix DID work, and quite nicely, and I was entirely congruent with it. Their description of me fit my definition of alpha perfectly even if it didn’t fit their own.

And it was a bloody freakin’ WONDERFUL event!

And not one single reference to me as CUTE! I was SEXY! W00T W00T!

That’s awesome B! You have the sexiness in ya… you’re letting it out in quite the spectacular fashion.

Let the CUTE and ADORABLE adjectives be applied to cats and babies!!!

Alpha male also has developed a negative connotation, even in the sense of being of the old school business world–the leader who doesnt ask, doesn’t “show weakness.”

I wish I remembered the reference, but recent studies have shown the new preference for future business “stars” is not-alpha-not-beta. People who can work effectively in teams, independently on subprojects, and can also take the lead where need be.

As women learn to be self-sufficient in their education and careers before entering into lasting long-term relationships, I imagine this sort of man will also be preferred on the “homefront” as well. A man who is willing to be interdependent and cooperative, who can and gladly does care for the kids and house in turn without resentment stemming from perceived societal pressures will be in high demand.

We need a new non-negatively connotated term for these hybrids–gamma? (The next letter in the Greek alphabet.) Omega? (The penultimate letter in the Greek alphabet–“the alpha and omega” means the beginning and the end.)

This is true. And if any have doubts - just look at the employment listings. This description pervades the “new expectations”. For both genders. The ‘corporate definition’ of alpha has dominated for so long, that it slopped over into the domestic arena.
Now, even the corporate world has come to terms with the fact that their ‘alpha’s’ have limited use applications. People are now aware that those alpha’s are not necessarily capable of being fully useful to the company or their teams - too much like an old school parent to be relevant.
When people comply and follow just because of a (real or perceived) rank; sooner or later you have insurrection on your hands. High turnover in employees (that will have no qualms about ‘dissing’ the usefulness of previous bosses) to domestic discontent to outright combat. Metaphorically speaking.

Well, I don’t think I’ll be reporting for a few days. I came back from the con with a summer cold, and applying fragrance is the LAST thing I need to do right now.:frowning: Niagara-runny nose; sore, scratchy throat; crud in my chest; general blah feeling. Ick.

I’m also about dead on my feet, and suffering a post-convention letdown. I could always understand Sherlock Holmes getting depressed between cases, because I sorta do the same thing.

Get better soon! Look forward to new posts.

We went to see the last Harry Potter movie yesterday.

When I got up I hit myself with a single spritz from the blue bottle of IS to kind of perk myself up. But several hours later when I got ready for the movie (matinee, with dinner after), I hit 2x MX398 to-go. (That was about as much fragrance as my sinuses could stand with this cold, and since I developed a fever later that evening and I was all stuffed up, probably more than they needed. When my sinuses are acting up for whatever reason, I become excruciatingly sensitive to fragrances.)

Anyway, I was gonna just throw on jeans and a t-shirt and go. But after the 398, I found I HAD to put on a NICE shirt, do my makeup and hair, add some jewelry, etc. Hubby was very solicitous, letting me out close to the theatre when he couldn’t find a close parking space, etc.

The movie was good, but you have to have read the books to understand. Hubby hasn’t, and so he had lots of questions at the end. We did the Prive seating at the Monaco, so I got a frozen margarita and took it into the theatre with me. The combo of lime and tequila and salt seemed to really do me good; I felt pretty decent through most of the movie.

Dinner also very good. Plenty of water (the waiter kept me refilled most diligently). Lots of garlic. Veggies, steak. Extremely polite and attentive waiter. Hubby helping me out of the booth, down the steps, etc.

Definitely a “Southern lady” vibe going.

Loved the last Harry Potter movie, I thought they did a pretty good job. So glad that you are up and about! And I am really looking forward to trying the 398 too. I hope it has such a good result for me would love the Southern lady treatment!

Oh geez, wouldn’t that be nice for a change?!
