Can pheromones make up for not being good looking?

Dammit where did my post go? Nothing offensive there. Anyway, in the spirit of the original thread, I posted an article about ugly men and hot women. And something about presence and charisma.

Just click here and hereand here. Most are articles by women about the phenomena of ugly men getting the hot chicks.

And here to find out how to look more attractive, just in case you haven’t gone through this stuff before - I think this is for the untamed teenage ‘man-boy’ age group? It’s mostly about working out, personal hygiene, how you carry yourself, and smelllllling good.

From your second link:

“When you date an ugly guy who’s smart and interesting,” she said, “you think you’re getting a good deal. You’re getting him on sale. You think an ugly guy will be more grateful and treat you better.”
 :open_mouth:

Another

“If something about him screams sexy, that’s never a good sign. Those are the ones you should run away from”

Do women really think like that??

No.

For a long term relationship, my mom always asked me to go for the boring unsexy guys. Stable income, no chance of infidelity therefore you can sleep at night knowing that he is busy at the office doing work instead of bonking some chick he met at the bar.

I do. But I can’t speak for all women. I tend to think that these men sleep around a lot and = not worth my time stressing over.

Re: ugly guys being more grateful - umm, ask the more experienced women about this one. I think this applies to both sexes. I know of some guys who go for average girls because they think that they are better in bed - or as you might put it, ‘more grateful’.

Do you find yourself subconciously (without explicitly thinking and making a decision) rejecting them or do you find yourself attracted but then rationalize?

NBully,
the people who put men/women in catagories and assume a “type” is consistant are usually in agreement with eachother, and not the majority.

if we see each person as the fingerprint that they are, there is no lumping together of “hot People” “ugly people” rating from 1- 10 , age differences, race differences.

NO differences other than culture and gender.

EVEN THEY are not consistant.

if a guy screams sexy to me, i usually assume i might original in this moment because i am not thinking sexy means the same to everyone.

what i find sexy may not be what other women do, and if he’s screaming sexxay then HELL YEAH im going for it !

HELL YEAH! That’s what surprised me about that statement.

Sexy as in underwear model sexy. Am attracted. But don’t wanna get involved. But that’s just me.

Here’s an article you should read.

Berscheid & Walster: Physical Attractiveness

i cant be helpful in reaction to this.:o
ive covered the young age, the middle age, the childbearing and rearing, and nothing in that article resembles any truth to me.

probably what turns me off from most of the medical community.

what i have read though is in fact popular, and i feel the more it is repeated, the more people will accept it as truth until they live the opposite of it out.

in other words, its easy to accept all that if you havent lived any of that out yet. and then you begin to look for it and accept it…unless something shows you otherwise.

All of this goes back to the whole ‘nature vs nurture’ debate.

Is how we view whats attractive more a matter of evolutionary factors or our upbringing?

I’d argue that its a product of both.

If evolutionary factors didn’t come into play, then pheromones wouldn’t work for squat.

On the other hand, our culture and upbringing has a dramatic effect on how we perceive the world…how we perceive what’s attractive and what isn’t

I hate to say this Ms Moon, but that just ain’t so. Fidelity is mainly a question of character and values, not appearance. Guys that look like toads are just as untrue as their cute counterparts. I know plenty. I’m afraid the same can be said of women. I can’t begin to list all the unattractive housewives that have come onto me these past few years. Most were military wives whose husbands were deployed overseas. Looks have nothing to do with infidelity.

As a man I can say that the womens look is too important. 80-20 or even more. I really feel bad about it. It isn’t fair at all. But that’s the human nature.

So no matter how bad I feel saing it, the article is truth for me, at least in the mans point of view.

Censor took my 2nd try as well, so here’s another try…

Hmm, I just made a post and the censor took it away. Sheesh, I didn’t use any curse words or mention forbitten pheromone wholesalers! Must be a crack in the matrix…

The thing about appearance is there isn’t an universal hot babe or guy. I’ve often noticed handsome white guys dating and marrying very plain, sometimes downright ugly Asian women. These girls would have a hard time finding a man within their own race.

I’ll offer another man’s point of view. Yes, looks are important because you initially notice appearance. Besides the obvious aspects of youth and good genes, appearance speaks a great deal about lifesyle, socioeconomic level and values. However, I see appearance as merely one component of the whole. I need intelligence, refinement, education, liberal thinking and certain other personality and lifestyle traits to consider a relationship. And, yes, these other traits will cause me to overlook appearance to some extent. For example an accomplished female musican or artist gives me major wood and she can suffer a lot of rough edges otherwise due to the hotness of her creations. Also, I’ve never had a sucessful relationship with anyone other than artists and musicians. Being immersed in a creative field affords an immediate level of understanding, something almost impossible with the great unwashed.

I guess I’m on the sh!t list. My last 3 posts were censored and await moderator approval. I guess this really isn’t a “live and uncensored pheromone forum.” Big Brother galore…

Here’s what I tried to write:

I can’t believe this made it through…

I believe there is a problem with the forums spam filter if what I remember is correct. It tends to prompt for mediator approval if the response is lengthy.

Interesting article. I noticed this in it

I’d doubt this..
Also when I was young I would think that they were diametrically opposed! (from my limited experience at the time) Of course in due time I realised this was wrong and you cannot generalize. I’m in agreement with what Gegogi said:

Unsexy meaning they don’t have that wolfish grin / alpha walk signalling high sex drive. Toads can pull off sexy as long as you don’t look at their face…

Neway, I think you know what I mean. Boring starch-ironed oxford shirts and glasses. The only problem is that they are usually mommy’s boys.
