Okay, got some P83 for the wife, thinking it would help her calm down and mellow out, maybe spark something but if not oh, well. Decided to go through the scents and found coconut and vanilla. She likes that combo, so I order that. WRONG! This does not smell like coconut, and I can’t smell vanilla at all. It is a sweet smell, but nauseating sweet with an undefinable “powdery” scent that lingers for hours. Since we’re both allergic to certain scents I sprayed a bit on my arm while she was at work. I scrubbed with antibacterial soap and hydrogen peroxide till my arm was raw and I could still smell it. Luckily, I wasn’t allergic to it, so I didn’t have the resulting sinus headache to go along with a red forearm.
Also, no self effects at all, unless absolute revulsion is a self effect.
Did I just get a bad “scent batch”, or is this just not a good scent? I may have to shelve this bottle, I don’t see how either of us could stand this scent. From now on I’m sticking with neroli. Plain vanilla might have worked, I just wanted a more “girly” smell for her, and I’ve smelled some really bad versions of “chocolotini” which was my first idea.
Literally, even after spraying my arm with Armani Code (burn!) I could still smell that “powdery” scent, it was almost an aftertaste kind of thing. I looked very carefully to make sure the bottle wasn’t leaking or that I had sprayed something else with overspray. I even changed my shirt, no luck.
Needless to say, even if the putative might have helped her, making both of us sick won’t, so we won’t be using it.
Has anyone else had a bad reaction with other scents? Do any of you actually like the coconut and vanilla? I will probably stick with neroli. I know some women here prefer the grapefruit scent, but that’s what the MX274 is and both of us find it a bit overpowering.
Other than neroli, the current batch of scents available for women are quite strong, sweet and foody. I would only choose neroli, personally; even though chocolatini gets lots of positive attention (its diffusion is huge) I just don’t like it and neither does my husband.
I’m a fragrance maven and have loads of things to choose from, so I don’t usually want my putatives scented with any of the custom scents available at Androtics.
I understand that perfumer Mike Storer is going to work on some new scents for Androtics. Knowing his work, I think that will be a very good thing
You’re not alone on this one. Alot of folks (both men and women) do not like the gourmand family of scents.
Kind of ood since alot of them, like myself, are serious foodies with well developed sensual reaction to food aromas. But to me and alot of other people, the gourmand scents are repulsive. IDK.
For my part, I’d rather have my pheros with a single note EO. Predictable, everybody knows what they’re getting. Has the the diffusion, dispersion, fixative properties that we need. Mixes well with a wide variety of cover colognes/perfumes.
Good ol’ neroli fits the bill. But any single note EO would do the job better than some 32 note symphony of scents.
To me, the neroli doesn’t count as a fragrance. It is too light and after dry down I can’t even smell it. Which is great, because I can use my favorite androtics products and my favorite perfumes.
I definitely gravitate towards gourmand and ultra sweet perfumes.
The choclatini is a strange scent. When I first tried it (couple of months ago), it nauseated me. It reminded me like some kind of spicy, old, and stale potpourri that would be in someone’s grandmother’s house. I put it in my “to trade away” box. Weeks went by, and finally I pulled my mx135 back out and sniffed it again. Oh! My mouth watered. It smelled like juicy and delicious chocolate liquor. Yum yum yum. Now I love wearing it. My nose is very wierd.
I have problems with any scent other than Neroli, sadly. My family (mostly on my dad’s side) has been known to have really strong sense of smell, so most of them are too much for my little nose. =( Not to mention, I’ve noticed it triggers my chronic cough due to asthma.
Scent wise, I agree that Im not to keen on most the girl scents.
Grapefruit is the scent that MX274 came in, and my wife and I both agree that not only does it not smell like grapefruit, it’s considerably stronger than the neroli almost everything else I have came in. At least it’s a bearable scent, and fades fairly quickly. I do like the game scent of MX292. I still haven’t tried anything with the Akuto scent.
For what it’s worth, the P83 is now up for trade in the trade post in the lounge. It’s only had a couple sprays out of it, I just seriously can’t handle the scent. It may be wonderful to someone else.
I love the grapefruit but with anything that has cops in it (like my Instant Shine with 5x cops, and perhaps MX274 since it smelled similar), I find that it reeks of BO.
Also love chocolatini for its boozy chocolate qualities. Otherwise, I absolutely hated the cookie/cococnut scents that MX235, MX282-7 were in…
Oh yes, I must say, I find the grapefruit from Androtics to be the best that I’ve smelled in a perfumed product in a long time. The only thing that comes close is the Body Shop’s grapefruit showergel… How I wish Androtics would release the fragrance on its own (I know it’s not possible but hey)
No MX274 is a blend of chocolitini and grapefruit I believe or was it cookie and grapefruit… anywho its not the normal grapefruit scent. The straight grapefruit scent is great here.
You are always welcome to call and ask but in the knowledge base (Suite link in my signature) It states they they do not sell the scents without the mones except what is offered in the supplies section of the store which is neroli.
I also asked them verbally more then once LOL I am such a pest LOL
Ah. Well, since they never actually state what scent it is on the order form, I was going by this customer review:
“This is a very clean energizing grapefruit scent…this mix attracts attention from others. People are super friendly, accommodating and interested in you. MX274 is a favorite for many of us.”
Not sure about the “clean engergizing”, I personally think neroli would have been good, or even the straight grapefruit. And who came up with chocolate grapefruit or grapefruit cookie? At least it’s bearable.
