Ok I know we have various posts on cover scents ectra maybe this kind of belongs in parfum but I wanted to share some things I found that worked well and ask you ladies what works for you.
I have a batch of eow that’s so strong it killed my nose when I opened it I had to go outside for awhile and I couldn’t smell anything for 30 minutes or so.
Something that works VERY well.
10 drops eow to a togo size bottle of the roll on or oil/blend version of victorias secret APPLETINI.Shake hard before applying. The appletini could actually handle more cops but I decided that was enough already. lol
Let dry if the scent isnt covered to your satisfaction cover with aqualina.
I’ve also used instant comfort from bath and body works its a vanilla absolute\chamomile oil blend.
I smell like cake right now. butter cream icing w yellow cake.
with a touch of crisp apples here and there.
So I went from a smell that was omg bad GAG to darnit now I want cake. Massive improvement. Oh delicate petals also a vic secret item also helps de-scent the bottle prior to opening and for storing no more stinky fingers.
It seems like I can never put just one perfume on, so I’m generally adding a pinch of this and that. I can’t wear commercial designer perfumes (almost all give me a headache), but I have an arsenal of single notes, essential oils, and artisan perfumes. In general, cops are covered really well by anything with a vanilla, sugary, honey, or fruity base. Preferably something with all of those Definitely anything that makes you smell like buttercream frosting works really well.
That being said, I don’t “get” Aquolina pink sugar. Its like everything I love in a perfume that doesn’t add up to what I want it to be. I have a eau de toilette rollerball I’ve been trying to trade on the trading post for a TOGO of something if any pink sugar enthusiasts are interested.
I’m not a huge fan of resins and sandalwoody heavy scents so I don’t really know if those are good covers.
I think neroli isn’t a good cover, and when Androtics comes out with cops, I hope they will consider offering it with sweet fragrance options (like the MX274 scent hint, hint)
I tried aquolina pink sugar for the first time today. I like the smell, but it’s a bit strong. Also, I felt sick all day today. I wonder if it’s the pink sugar that caused it?
I love the scents of spices. I always said that I would design a perfume that smelled mostly like chai blend with vanilla. I guess that would make me smell like spice cake with vanilla buttercream…mmm
I wonder if any of those spicy scents would cover cops well. I have not tried it yet. I am so self-conscious about the smell of cops, I’m still working up my courage. Has anyone had any experience of the sort?
Yeah, I have a citrus based perfume that smells like dirty socks if it gets mixed with the eow at all.Pink sugar I always blend with another perfume to get what I want from it.
I’d like to find a good magnolia blossom or cinnamonish kind of scent idealy.
I agree androtics should probably blend their cops whenever they get done working on the formula with a sweet or fruity based scent but not too sweet.Seems like eow at least reacts badly to citrusy smells and you just smell like a little old lady with the resin based ones. O.o EDP de Granma is not a good scent unless your fella is cougar hunting.
If you have any recommendations for a good source of essential oils or perfumes that would be nice.
I live in a fairly hot climate and my husband is scent-sensitive. Two good reasons to use oil based scents instead of alcohol based. If you’re looking for oils that are scented Body Oils | Fragrance Oils | Wholesale Body Oils | Perfume Oils : Home has many varieties to choose from, but they’re not essential oils. These are oil based knockoffs of all types of perfume and cologne, literally hundreds. Some aren’t very nice at all, some of them are pretty good, and the price is ridiculously low. Shipping is fast, too. I got an order from them in three days. One of the things I ordered was Japanese Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works, and I think the smell is virtually identical.
I love essential oils and am always looking for a good price because some of them are quite expensive. I have found this company based in Canada, but have not tried them yet. Their prices are good, although there are some things they do not carry, like sandalwood. Buy Essential Oils in Canada | Buy Essential Oils Online
Quick question… that I can’t seem to find on the internets. How does one go about inserting EoW into a rollerball bottle? It seems impossible to me to get those little balls out and all the bottles I’m currently checking out online (including pink sugar..) don’t look like they have a screw off top
To open up a roll-top bottle, don’t try to remove the ball itself. Remove the entire plastic top that HOLDS the ball. Apply pressure sideways with your thumbs, pushing from one side, then the opposite side in alternating fashion, and that will slowly lift the apparatus out of the glass bottle neck.
To add perfume from a spray bottle without a screw top, don’t try to pry the top off; simply spray the perfume directly into the new bottle.
I usually get the roller bottles. No particular reason I guess, except that I can better control how much of the product I put on at a time that way. Goes back to scent-sensitive hubby.
They’ve got lots of sweet, tastey gourmand scents. One of our perfumistas, River, created a pumpkin, lavender, vanilla, chocolovers scent at Cleanse Your Soul that was called Soltice Dawning.
