i have had great luck using sexual by michel germain as a cover. it smells fantastic on its own and can cover up lighter smells easily with smelling like you bathed in it. i would recommend trying sexual for women i know women who use it and it seems like it would be perfect to cover pheromones with because it still has a heavy presence. just a suggestion.
Nice post, Mia!
I’ve tried some of them. Thought I would like some of the more popular musks, based on reviews I’ve read and the fact that I wore Skin Musk all the time as a teen. So I picked up decants of Kublai Khan and Musc Ravageur. Guess I’ve grown out of the whole musk thing. It just smelled odd on me–like a stranger’s skin. Boudoir smelled a bit overdone as did Flower Bomb. And Covet smells like a sweaty great aunt. Blech! Can’t believe it is so popular.
Totally curious about Kingdom. I’ll have to try it next time I’m shopping. Is Sexual a musk? L by Lolita Lempickia is my current favorite. Vanillay and orange-spicy. I also have a sample of Juicy Couture, which I like a lot, but it doesn’t cover cops. And of course Pink Sugar can cover any phero in existance.
I prefer a perfume to add a little subtle warmth to my natural skin scent, regardless of whether I’m moned up. Any recs?
Kitten
Kitten: For warmth I would think a strong vanilla base. Have you tried one of the Comptoir Sud Pacifique gourmand scents? Since you like L that may be a direction to go. Or maybe an amber like Anne Pliska or Ambre Sultan?
Argh. Now I’m going to have to add Chocolovers to my list of wanted scents again.
Parfums that I have used and do cover well:
Christian Dior, Dune, an older scent but it is excellent for recovering from the too sweet scents and doesn’t conflict with neroli. Doesn’t assault the senses as most Dior perfumes do to me.
Another older scent is Chopard, Casmir. I loved this stuff in the past it is always complemented.
Lately I’m loving my body sprays. I’m currently hooked on VS line, two favorites are Sugar and Spice Seduction & Chocolate Cravings unfortunately they’ve already been discontinued. Bed, Bath and Body Works also has a huge body spray line.
If anyone has used Falling in Love by Philosophy I would appreciate a review. I like the scent description.
Apparently a light scent, heavy on blackberry note. Don’t know of it will cover mones, though. Idea? Go to Sephora and ask the sales whore to make you up a sample. You should get 2-3 good wearings of it. try with your stankiest, and lightest mones!
note: I’m probably gonna hit Sephora on Monday, so I’ll take a vial of Instant Sexiness (middle ground stank?), spritz my arm with both, and give you a quickie review later in the day. I CAN tell you that Amazing Grace, while absolutely lovely, is so light and has so little staying power that it won’t work as a mone cover. As a regular scent? Absolutely, especially with the delicious layerings of the body/hair wash and conditioner.

I’ve been reading reviews over at drugstore.com. Seems all of the Philosophy perfumes lack in staying power. There are lotions and oil rollers that stretch it some. Demeter scents are like that too.
I’m waffling between Falling in Love and Amazing Graze. I want both!
Yeah, they to go sizes are $15 each, which seems a lot, but good to test run before shelling out for the large size and the bath products (I’ve been eying the AG body/hair wash).
Here’s a way to look at it: Do you prefer floral or fruity scents? AG is more floral, and FiL sounds fruity. Maybe that will help?
Since you do have a Sephora near you, get the testers and go with your mones ready, and try on each arm.
And I hate malls too, though I love food courts because I can come up with weird a la carte lunch selections.
I’m all over the place with scents. As long as they’re not so strong it makes me nauseous, I’m happy.
You can tell how long it has been since I’ve shopped for scents by the ages of the two I listed. My parfum bottles last forever. I’ve never purchased from Sephora online or in store. :o
Casmir is the only one I have had to replace a few times over the years and thats impossible to find in store.
I didn’t wear perfume for years, but got into perfumista sniffing as a result of a desire for a good cover scent for my mones. It’s since become a fun hobby, one not dissimilar to wine connoisseurship, as it turns out that I live in probably the third or fourth best city for sampling perfume, after Paris – natch – New York, and maybe London. Yay me!
I’ve got the falling in love body wash - it’s almost cotton candy. there’s a hint of cotton candy, and then a citrusy note so it’s sweet but not too sweet. it pairs well with cotton cand scents. prolly pink sugar too.
I’ve also read that the Falling in Love lotion and oil roller will help with a more sandalwood musky note so if I do go for this one I’ll be getting them also.
Pink Sugar doesn’t smell like cotton candy to me. At application it is pure over powering licorice, but the dry down is an appealing sweet musk on me. I’ve heard lots of complements and requests for what I am wearing. Some people do smell the cotton candy I do not while others pick up the musk.
Strong and weird scent for me, but it has grown to be among my favorites.
A friend tried on Falling in Love in the store, then got in her car. Her car smelled like dessert for months. She must have lost a scent strip in there or something, though she swears she just sprayed it on herself, not a paper strip. It’s vanillic blackberry musk, heavy on the vanilla and berries to my nose.
Pink Sugar smells like sugar cones (ice cream cones) and cotton candy on me, with a little tinge of licorice and wood. But mostly like those fresh-baked sugar cones, pretty overwhelming. People do compliment it, probably because it’s an “easy” familiar smell, not too confusing for them!
