If anyone has read my recent post about how disappointed I was with W-9 cops formula, I have a nice surprise.
Initially I thought (and still do) this was an ineffective product. There was too little scent and what was there disappeared as soon as the product dried. On the plus side while it was still wet it smelled more natural and womanly than EOW ever did.
So the problem seemed to be either there was too little cops or what was there was too volatile to stick around.
I have artisan’s alcohol, which contains hexylene glycol, a molecule used in perfume to make the scent molecules a little heavier and stickier so that your perfume stays with you longer. I decided to see if I could use that to trap the W-9 so that it didn’t dissipate instantaneously.
It works. And even though I am diluting the W-9 with the artisan’s alcohol the smell is stronger by far than it was before adding the alcohol. But then again, the alcohol all evaporates so you have less W-9 with more scent, but it sticks, so it seems stronger.
It takes about 50/50 dilution before there is enough hexylene to keep the W-9 stuck. More would probably be better.
And it smells really quite good after dry down, very subtle, and maybe just light cover would be adequate.
If you like a stronger, more musky smell to your cops, adding about 1/10th volume of propylene glycol to the mix makes it even stronger.
And here is the really nice part: NO CHEESE! Yup, cheese-free cops. LOL
Well, since we don’t know the initial concentration of cops in W-9, I couldn’t tell you what that concentration is. It was light to begin with.
I used equal volumes of W-9 and Artisan’s alcohol, then added 1/10 volume of propylene glycol. So:
W-9 is 45% of the total volume`
Artisan’s Alcohol is 45% of the total volume
Propylene Glycol is 10% of the total volume
After dry down it has to be a stronger concentration of cops adhering to your skin than if you hadn’t diluted, because of the volatility issue with W-9. How much? Enough to smell it, that’s all I can tell you.
You still need to use more than the old EOW formulation. This stuff is really mild in comparison.
Since I’m still on my phero-break, I decided to do a simple test of the W-9/Artisan’s Alcohol/DPG.
Last night after my husband went to sleep, I sprayed 3 sprays to my hair. Because the smell is so light I felt I could get away with it, even if he woke up.
He didn’t wake up, but… he kept talking in his sleep, saying the dirtiest things to me! He’s never done that before. And he kept trying to jump me in his sleep!
Today, I didn’t reapply, but he kept coming up next to me, grabbing my head and sticking his nose in my hair and smelling me and saying, “Oh, my God! You smell so good!” He’s never done that before either.
Whewww you sassy lady. Love it. They do react in there sleep more obviously. I will have to try it with W-9. I havnt played with it in a while and I still have some.
