Covered Neroli vs. Covered Scentless

I’m about to throw down for a new bottle of Ammo that will ALWAYS be covered with an expensive sweet-smelling cologne. I’m debating between scentless (mutant) Ammo and Neroli scented.

Do you think neroli-scented Ammo combined with cologne would provide significantly better diffusion than scentless Ammo combined with cologne?

my next bottle of ammo will be scentless as well..my last one was neroli

as long as the cologne you are using is a good diffusive one should be fine

Just like to add there are some colognes I am using that IMO are way better then neroli anyway in terms of sillage that will blow it away just give some examples: Musc Ravaguer, Montale Black Aoud, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. If I were to use more then one spray of any of these I wiill knock people out LOL

I agree, I think it depends on how good the cologne you’re going to be using is.

Cool thanks. I order the scentless based on your recommendations.

In an earlier thread that if I remember correctly denec posted, he mentions possibly using a body oil to help diffuse pheromone sprays so this is another idea. Also cologne works on heat to help diffusion, and this is why during the Summer you go lighter on cologne while during Winter you usually need to spray on more. Also if you have oily skin this really helps to help you diffuse cologne. So considering all this I can see why cologne would help diffuse pheromones, but now the question is; should we apply it right after spraying the pheromones (while it’s still wet) so we can have the actual cologne mix with the pheromones straight away, or wait to apply it after it dries?

Oh, yeah by the way. This is another reason why people use A314 as a base.

Here’s a crazy tip/trick too! You can spray a light bulb with cologne and when you turn on the light the scent will diffuse awesomely because of the heat of the light. I just tried this with Spaceland; I sprayed the light bulb in my room then turned on the light and I got this small dizzy light headed feeling.

actually correction i use body oil to help increase longevity of my colognes, while it also does help to increase sillage or diffusion the biggest factor has to do with cologne design, ingredients, and your skin chemistry, but there are a lot of factors. But no doubt body oil is a big plus in helping to increase diffusion IMO especially after i started using it as long as you get a good quality body oil and apply it right.

Since my skin is very dry i get an average of about 3-4 hours increase when using neutrogena body oil on my skin first, as soon as i get out of the shower, then about 15 minutes later i will apply my pheros and then apply my cologne.

To sum up you can take 10 people wearing say Amouage Jubilation and 8 out of 10 will say it gives great Diffusion and two will say it barely leaves the skin. The reasons can be numerous. now we know the scent is a well made scent using highly made ingredients. so it comes down to skin chemistry and or dry skin. There are just so many factors involved. There is so much science involved. No two people are alike. Which is why I relaly like using my own scents and buying all my pheros unscented and find what works for myself.

if i do not use the body oil my skin will soak up the pheros and cologne so fast it just eats it right up and have to reapply so much faster

Oh btw cologne does not have to be expensive to have great diffusion like body kouros or angelmen, or Le male, and you wear those and just one or two sprays and people will smell for sure and you coming from 20-30 feet away LOL.

Thanks for the correction denec! I have mild to moderate oily skin, but now I wonder if the benzoyl peroxide soap I use on my body hinders the diffusion like you mentioned your dry skin does to your cologne. Reason why is because my body gets dry afterward since that’s a side effect of benzoyl peroxide.

Great advice here.

I would just like to point out that neroli is what perfumers use to improve sillage of their mixes. You would be surprised how many colognes have neroli in it for just that purpose. It blends well without changing the origonal scent much and makes the scent pop off the skin.

Tisha

I think neroli is ok being blended in a cologne, but by itself the smell I do not like it all since it is a floral and more feminine

here is the fragrance wheel

and neroli is orange blossom which falls under floral oriental which is really feminine but can be used to be blended for men if used properly sometimes

I know some of the colognes I wear that have killer sillage do not use neroli at all

so whatever they are using maybe AD should be looking at

I did a search on basenotes and only one out of 30 of my colognes I own has neroli that is D&G PH, since neroli is classified as a soft floral it tends to be used more in female perfumes which would make sense.

From what I can see Musc Ravaguer does not use neroli

One time I was on the train and everyone smelled me with just two sprays so now I know only to use one spray it is killer!

But you do have me curious what does make a cologne or perfume much more diffusive and give greater sillage. I am really curious now. I don’t think it is any one thing but a number of reasons and I would like to find out why.
