Interesting that the rate is posted, but not the happiness of the ones who stay married. Or the fidelity. In some countries it’s more “acceptable” to have lovers on the side, whether or not they are happy in their marriage. In other countries, a divorce be economically unfeasible or severely frowned upon by the local religion, despite unhealthy or even “unsafe” living conditions.
Granted I think the paperwork and counseling to get married should be equal or greater than that for getting divorced, and maybe people wouldn’t take the “easy out” if they made a better match or learned better communication and compassion, but this data set shows only a portion of the picture.
