Data4's Journal

 Jon…Jon? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think he died and went to heaven. Bella, you need to be careful with your cousins. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nope, the strike ended and he’s spending all his free time at the plant with the Pole dancers they hired at the Tully’s coffee stands. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahaha Phya! You’re so right. Who needs a shotty when you’ve got those two? Yeah, they’re definitely loaded…lol

One can only hope…lol.

See Jon, this is what happens when you stay away to long…your journal begins to have a life of it’s own. Better hurry back…

Bella

Well, from looking at the news the strike may be over soon. Maybe we’ll get him back into his old routine he just might remember his friends here …

Glad to hear the strike’s been settled, data! Not nearly as glad as I was while drooling over those pictures of Bella’s lovely cousins, but glad never the less.

Guess who’s back! Back again! Data’s back, Data’s back, Data’s back…

Ho…lee smokes!

First, an update. Where have I been? Well, there was the strike, which left me on a shoestring budget for 2 months. Without any fun money, I didn’t really have anything going on pheromone-related. Sure, I could have worn stuff to the store, but I’m not into store sarging. Maybe I need to be? Heh. Well, on top of that, I’ve moved to a new place. Still moving, in fact, but I finally had a little time this weekend. With the strike over, we got a signing bonus in our contract, so that left me with a little extra money for entertainment. So what do I do the first weekend after going back to work? Whattaya think? Heh. This was also my first chance (FINALLY) to test out SteveO’s limited ICM mixes I bought a few months back. Believe me, I was itching to do this, and I wanted to first try it where I knew I could be loose and let the pheros work.

So… I went to Fox’s. Now, I realize my most recent Fox’s reports have been pretty same-y. Go, get lapdance, get comments about how I smell good, leave. Blah. Tonight was a little bit different.

I showed up there at about 7:00. Shortly after arriving, the DJ announced that Paradise was next on the main stage. A half a minute or so into her song, I set a dollar on stage and got her attention. She giggled and waved. I hadn’t seen her in at least 3 months.

After her set on both stages, she went to a couple of tables to thank other tippers, then she trotted over and hopped in my lap. “HEY YOU!! (peck on the cheek) where have you been?” We chatted for a bit, and then she said she was getting off soon. I asked if she had time for a VIP dance, and she of course said yes. We went back to the booths and she cozied up next to me to wait for the next song to start. She kept commenting on my smell, but it was more than usual. “God, you always smell good, but you REALLY smell good tonight. What is it?” I just told her “Oh, a little of this, little of that.”

The dance was hot and bothersome even more than usual, and almost as soon as it started, it was over. We sat for a little while longer and she said that she and her sister (who also works there) were getting off soon and were going to a nearby Mexican-style cantina and she asked me if I wanted to join them.

HELLS YES!

She said in order to avoid drama from the manager that I should go ahead on over while they changed into their street clothes and would meet me in about 20 minutes. I played it cool and said “Yeah, that sounds cool. I wouldn’t mind a mojito right about now anyway.”

So I left and went down to the bar. It wasn’t too busy yet, so I waited in the parking lot and had a smoke til the girls showed up. They both drive brand new Nissan 350Zs, so they weren’t hard to spot 15 minutes or so later. My ego was through the roof walking into the place with those two, and we got a few looks. We took a seat at a table in a corner and ordered drinks. Roxy, Paradise’s sister, asked me how I was doing after having my hernia surgery. It’s been a few months, but she remembers when I came in a week or so after it. She recently had her boobs done, so we were trading painkiller stories. She also damned near pulled one out as she asked me what I thought of them. “My compliments to your surgeon” I said, raising my glass to her. There was a live mariachi band playing and the place was pretty mellow. It was a nice place to hang out for a bit. About 45 minutes later, Roxy said she had to go meet some friends somewhere, and I was afraid this might have been some cue for both of them to leave. I put on the whole overly disappointed act with a “Aww… we’re just getting started!” Paradise told her “Fine, go ahead, doofus”, so the evening was still on.

And in the fine tradition of my TO BE CONTINUED reports, I’ll have to save the best for a followup. And yes, it gets good. Really good.

Good! Looks like I came back just in time! Let ‘er rip Data ol’ pal!

Can’t wait to read how this story goes down. No pun intended.

Way to keep us in suspense, buddy!

Holy crap… I totally forgot about this. Well, it’s gonna be anticlimactic. Not worth the wait. She let me drive her car around the mall parking lot (the restaurant is an outparcel of a decent sized mall out here.

So if it’s not on a road, is it technically still considered road head if you’re in a car? Just something to ponder.

Hey Data,
Can’t even begin to explain how helpful this journal of yours is. I’m just getting into the mone scene and it’s like a whole new sub culture. I started reading and next thing I know I’ve gone through all 35 pages of text. Sorry about the wife though, I know that can be rough. Paradise sounds awesome. Really appreciate all the time you put into writing about your trials and tribulations man. The info in your posts is priceless.

Thanks,
Lizard

Engineer to the core…pondering technicalities.

LOL. Renny - always the observer … :stuck_out_tongue:

oh my god… this is why I should keep up more with everyone’s journal. xD

(I posted this in my MySpace blog, but I thought it might get more feedback here)

Psychology describes dreams in a number of ways, including the subconscious mind’s way of interpreting or rehashing recent events in life, literally or metaphorically. They can also be the mind’s way of dealing with stress. They can also be complete nonsense-- images pieced together haphazardly, making for at times psychedelic, or sometimes frightening vignettes.

Religion and folklore ascribe higher meanings to them. They could be messages from God, prophecies of the future or visions designed to teach the dreamer some sort of life or spiritual lesson.

There are other ways dreams have been interpreted, such as intuitive links between family members. Twins experiencing the same dream from opposite ends of the world, for example, or a parent dreaming of an actual event in the life of their child from far away.

I set this up because I, like most other people, dream every night. My dreams generally fit the first example, showing me odd takes on concepts related to recent experiences. Stuff at work or at home or anywhere else my life takes me that either parallel real events or could easily have happened in reality. Sometimes, there are goofy aspects, like the odd ability to fly, or superhero powers like telekinesis. I have to admit, some of those dreams were fun. But in general, they’ve all seemed like little departures from reality with some sort of grounding in it.

The last two nights, however, I’ve had similar dreams involving the same person. This is a person from my past who I haven’t seen or spoken with in about 10 years. She was someone I went to school with, and who had a profound effect on me. Actually, it was a combination of the person herself and the feelings I had for her. Back during school, I had SERIOUS issues related to self esteem and had an extreme fear of expressing myself-- particularly with emotional matters. It’s funny, I still have that in a way (funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same!), but it’s nothing compared to the absolute fear I experienced back in highschool. The short version, basically, is I developed feelings for her, but waited waaaay too long to act on them, and by the time I did, the whole thing came out so convoluted that I think I did more to push her away as a friend than I could have ever done to become closer to her. Add to that a certain 3 way phone call I had with another friend at the time that involved her and some things said in jest and waaaay out of context, and… well, it became a mess, and is something I look back on to this day with regret.

People often talk about “If I knew then what I know now”, and for me, the several years of my life the above events spanned are the height of that idea for me. Man, oh man, the mistakes I can see I made are so plain, so obvious and at times, simple, that had I the emotional and mental wherewithal I have now, I would never have made them. However, hindsight is 20/20 and what happened happened. The past is the past, and all that jazz… but then something happens that brings the past back in technicolor and apparant Dolby surround sound.

For two nights in a row, I dreamed of her. While she occasionally crosses my mind from time to time, she’s not a subject I dwell on. I get the occasional curiosity about how she’s getting along, but beyond that, I’ve felt no burning need to contact her or anything. My dreams were neither troubling, nor were they of any deep, unmentionable level of detail. However, they were a sort of time travel. In both instances, it was like we were back at school, at Creekside High, during my Junior year when I first met her. The events didn’t mirror exact events, as far as I can recall, but they were in a plausible context. There was a football game at the home field where I first met her. I was with some friends that sat near the band and drill team, of which she was a member. Conversation similar to the type we’d have back then took place. It was all nice and pleasant, and upon waking, I felt as if absolutely no time had passed since the fall of '90.

There was a butterfly feeling in my gut, and emotions I’d long since either abandoned, suppressed, or simply gotten over began to creep back up. This was just after the first night, though. The second night, the dream seemed to be a year or so after school. She moved to a different school during my senior year, and we didn’t have much contact. In the dream, though, it was like we’d maintained pretty regular contact and in this instance, she was distressed over something. Perhaps a grandparent had died, or something of similar magnitude had taken place to upset her. For some odd reason, we met up at a Chinese restaurant to so she could talk about it, and I offered a sympathetic ear and shoulder. I distinctly remember hugging her and telling her it’s okay to cry, and just being supportive.

Once again, I awoke with the sense that no time had passed, and this time I had a feeling of urgency that I needed to talk to her to find out if everything was okay. But, let us put this into perspective. It’s been 10 years or more since I last spoke to her. The last thing I knew about her, she was happily married with I believe two children. It’s very likely and probable that she has a nice circle of friends and family to see her through any rough spots in life, so if the dream WAS some kind of metaphysical hocus-pocus message from or about her, why to me after all these years?

Regardless, I still find it odd that two nights in a row I dreamed of the same person-- a person I haven’t had recent contact with-- and on both occasions, it had a pretty deep emotional impact on me. Now I’m left with a bit of a conundrum. I’m interested in getting in touch with her, but I don’t know if I should. To clarify a point, while there was a little rough spot during our highschool years, we since got past that and remained distant friends. The last time I saw her, I was having to take the bus to work and she saw me at the bus stop. Because I had to allow a couple of hours for the bus trip, she offered to give me a ride to work, but had to drop groceries off at her house, and wanted to visit with me for awhile. It was a very pleasant time of catching up, since we’d rarely spoken over the last few years.

I’m soliciting your opinions. Should I try to get in touch with her? I’ve searched the net and found absolutely nothing about her, except a very outdated and unvisited Classmates.com profile. However, I did find that her parents still live at the same address and have a listed phone number, so that’s a possible avenue. Help me out here… should I call them and try to reconnect with her?

In the context of touching base with a distant friend…go for it, although my limited experience with this type of thing is that it is incredibly awkward.

Yeah, it’s the awkwardness that concerns me. Her parents met me on a couple of occasions, but I’m not sure they’d remember me. Plus, I’d have to come up with a less bizarre reason to try touch base other than “Hi, I’m Jon. I was friends with April back in highschool and I had these dreams about her, see? And so…”

Yeah, it can be pretty weird. Dreams like that could be your subC’s way of warning you it’s about to happen again in some other way. Somebody on here used to have the Twain quote in their sig about history rhyming. Take a good look at the present.
