Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m extremely tired and my brain is in neutral, or possibly reverse:

If I have a putative pheromone whose concentration is 50mcg/spray, how many milliliters (ml) of the mone and how many ml of perfumers alcohol ¶ should I add to a 5ml spray bottle to achieve a concentration of 10mcg/spray?

According to a website I used, it would be 1ml of the phero plus 4ml of PA. Since the site uses scientific terms that I’m not familiar with, I’m not sure I’ve plugged the right numbers into the fields. Does 1ml phero plus 4ml PA sound right to you?

What if I have a 4X strength 5ml spray bottle of Instant Honesty that I want to dilute to 1X strength IH? How ml of 4X IH plus how many ml of PA are necessary to fill a 5ml bottle to create the equivalent of 1X IH?

Is there some simple formula I can use in future to calculate these dilutions with pheros of different concentrations?

I have some graduated plastic pipettes, so measurements that are accurate to the nearest 0.5ml should be no problem.

Hey man, yeah it’s pretty simple but sometimes easy to miss.

You have 50 mcg / spray and you want 10 mcg / spray.
That’s 1/5… correct? You want the spray bottle to spray 1/5 of what it is now..
So you just make your 50mcg/spray putative the “1” in 1/5.
1 part 50mcg/spray putative to 4 parts perfumers alcohol = 5 parts total.
So the putative is 1/5 the total volume..
Still with me?
It doesn’t matter how much you do as long as the ratio is 1/5.
Meaning, you can do 1ml putative to 4ml perfumers alcohol…
or, 10ml putative to 40ml perfumers alcohol.

Same with the instant honesty..

You have 4x and you want 1x.. that’s 1/4… correct?
So 1 part (IH) to 3 parts ¶ = 4 parts total…
…which means IH here is 1/4 the total.

So if you are using a 5ml Togo bottle just put 1ml 4x Instant Honesty + 3ml Perfumers alcohol.
