I don’t really think its a downplay. I think the effect that pheromone has directly depends on who the users are. Like how everyone has a different signature, certain pheromone mixtures will work better for one person and not another. Also the way pheromones affect the user can cause the user to feel and be different, but the extent of that depends on each user. A lot of what that depends on IS the user, his or her mentality, personality, LOOKS, etc. Like Gegogi has said before, pheromones aren’t mind bending products, otherwise you could spray a lamppost and women would be flocking to it. Funny thing is, for some users, they use pheromones AND they start self improvement and then chalk it all up to the pheromones. Its the USER but the pheromones gave the user an edge whether it was help in being noticed or creating rapport.
The way I see pheromones, I say the good things happen due to pheromones, cause when things are going well in my life, I’m actively trying to make it better. If I’m getting more “hits” its because I’m actually going out and being SOCIAL and putting myself out there longer to do so. In a sense, I can blame/attribute the good things to pheromones than to blame myself for a lack of motivation. ![]()
Now everyone is entitled to their opinion, and our opinions are formulated by our experiences and paradigm. So it stands to reason that we would all have different opinions.
I just want to say for me personally, the scent of a man, more than any other characteristic, is what sways my decision when choosing a date, a mate, whatever. There are lots of other things that come into play, of course, such as looks, clothing, confidence, social status, $, you name it. They all carry some weight in our decisions. Anyone who says they don’t isn’t being realistic. But there are some things that rise above in the decision making process, and it’s probably different for everyone. Case in point: When it came time to choose, I did not marry the good looking guy with the money, I married the carpenter who had trouble making ends meet. There was more to it than looks and $.
If you were to stand two twins next to each other, wearing identical clothes and exuding the same confidence, but give Twin A a cool car and a wallet full of money and give Twin B some great cologne, I am going home with Twin B. I find it hard to resist a great smelling man. You guys with all the pheromones, stay away! ![]()
Now pheromones are a big part of that scent package, whether you’re spraying on some or just producing your own. The reason we think of it as scent has a lot to do with the fact that the receptor is up your nose. If you absorbed the pheromone signal with your tongue you would probably think of it as a taste.
I guess the trick is to work it all together. No single aspect of a person has the final say in what people think about them. If that were true, then all your friends would look alike, of you would only date girls that looked, spoke, acted the same as all the rest you’ve dated.
Either this is just an example or you are lying.
When it comes to dating looks and personality come first for women.
But when it comes to marriage social status and wealth are the ones that come first.
Unless they dont have many choices.
Im not saying this is a bad thing though because all these are nothing but evolutionary traits.
She did say everyone is different and that was her choice. I know many women prone to marry losers, deadbeats and slackers! My sister, smart as she was in college and business, married 2 guys prone to beat her and unable to hold down a job. While other women have a knack for picking the right guy for a great life together. If social status and wealth were universally paramount 99.9% of men would be single! Of course, that could explain all the 20 something women bothering me lately. I love being called papi!
So, as a matter of fact, in your very smart, clever and articulate way of framing things (that I really enjoy reading) you have just agreed with metaltree, snoopypace and happikitsune among others, don’t you? ![]()
alright my internets been down for a about 3 days and so i thought i’d jump in and put my 2 cents. first of all…guys don’t ask women for their opionions on men…big mistake. it’s just gonna confuse you and waste your time.
lately i’ve been dealing with a lot of older women for some reason and it seems that their lack of knowledge about men only gets worse. not sure if this is off topic or not, but the whole thing about women attracting men is just ridiculous. they just don’t get it for some reason. women spend everyday on their looks, but when was the last time you saw a chick read a book on “how to be funny”? I’ve never seen it.
i’ve spent yesterday explaining to a 38 yo woman that attraction will only get you fucked (ooo, can i use that word on here?) It’s the other stuff that will actually get you a man. this woman got her hair done and her nails done and was telling me, “now i know the guys will want me”.
so here i was thinking in my head, “oh yah, your nails totally make up for the fact that you’re a total bitch.”
i can just see the guys at the club going, “man i can’t stand to be around her, but she’s got nice nails tho!!”
but i gotta say i do like being around older women because they are more in tune with reality. i’ve heard many older women (30’s to 50’s) tell me that they feel that men get better with age while women get worse. i agree with this.
this leads into my thoughts on commitment. man i hear this shit so many times “men are afraid of commitement” or “they run for the hills”.
it’s not them, it’s you!! in my experience men are actually very good with commitment. just think of a guy and his dog, his car, or his favorite shirt. try to take em away from him and you know what i mean. the reason why
men don’t wanna commit is because it’s generally a bad deal for us. think about it. oh yah, this shit is gonna hurt ladies…so if you don’t like it, stop reading right now. disclaimer
as men, when we get older, we get wiser, more mature, more confident, more respected. as women, well you get less attractive, less fun, less sociable, less emotionally stable. so in essense asking a guy to commit under these circumstances is like asking someone to stay on a sinking ship. so when a guy comes across a women and imagines her say 5 years into the future going down this negative trend, it’s enough for them to say, “check please!” and the really messed up thing is that i’m actually not giving you my opinions, i’m just reciting what other women have told me!!
now as far as me, i have this great girl in my life, that i feel blessed to have come across. yah, she’s not a looker…she’s doesn’t wear makeup most of the time, and i don’t think she has more than 3 dresses in her wardrobe. and she sucks in bed too. but i love her to death, wanna know why? simple..cause she’s not a bitch, she’s not crazy, she doesn’t waste my time with boring ass conversations, she doesn’t ask me to buy her shit, she doesn’t need constant reassurance from me about her looks or her weight, and she understands that i’m busy and can’t just drop everything and spend a whole day with her everytime there’s some freaking art exhibition.
boo yah…if you’ve actually read this whole post, give youself a gold star. man this was long.
You bring up interesting points. I want to say something, but I’ll wait to later when I can clear my head and decide unbiasedly what I’d like to say.
It is not an example, and I am not lying. Not all women are gold-diggers.
I married my husband because of his personality. He is generous and kind, he is honest and brave, and he is a wonderful father. We are no longer having trouble making ends meet, if that’s what you’re getting at, but that stuff didn’t matter so much to me.
My first husband was a real jackass who treated me and our daughter very badly. Our divorce involved the cops as often as it involved attorneys. I am now happily married to a man who is kind and faithful. That’s worth more than all the $ in the world!
then those women have terrible self esteem and self confidence. As HUMANS get older, GENERALLY we ALL get less attractive. The rest of that, is really up to the person themselves. Being more mature isn’t automatic, its a choice that you make. Women also get wiser and more mature. As to respect, that depends as women always get less respect in most societies simply because they are women. One can say, they are born into that.
As to women getting less attractive, fun, sociable, emotionally stable, etc, men are affected by the same thing.
I know thats what was told to you and you may not have the same opinion of women, just telling you that as HUMANS who all share the same inevitable disease, we all suffer the same things that come with time and age. And many of those things that were mentioned are a cause of time.
i dunno, i would have to disagree with you on this. granted i’m young and prolly a dumbass, but i feel that you are taking an idealistic stance on this as if gender differences didn’t exist. medically speaking there are big time differences between men and women…you’d have to be pretty insane to argue the hormonal and subsequently appearance linked traits that accompany the two sexes. and what about menopause?
but i do agree with you that women are generally less respected in society than men.
I’m actually the same age as you.
hmm, emotional stability. Yeah, ok, women can be less emotionally stable when they are in menopause, but it doesn’t make them that way forever.
A lot of the fun, sociable stuff, that’s all based on each individual. It’s up to the person, not the sex to decide how much fun they want to be and/or have. I don’t get how being older would cause you to be less fun based on your sex, so if I’m missing something here, please, clarify what you were told to you. As I understand it, as a woman gets older, she becomes less fun to be around or less sociable.
A lot of the physical attraction stuff, the outside stuff, both sexes suffer with time. Men get wrinkles and white hairs too. That is what I’m talking about. It’s inevitable that everyone will get old, but its individual as to how you will age. You can’t defy that, but you can always make it worse (unhealthy exposure to the sun, smoking, high stress etc can make you look older). This is not an idealistic stance, this is reality. Doesn’t matter who you are or where you live. You WILL get older and you WILL age and you WILL get wrinkles and unless you exercise daily in your golden years, there’s a good chance that you will lose muscle mass and gain fat regardless if you’re a man or a woman.
yah, but you missed my point…yes we both age..but as men, we are not judged as severely on our looks as women are.
I think moonwhisper is sharing an honest, very real and human example:
For me this really says something about the deeper, complex; hence beautiful factors of mating and dating.
How do you explain that there are enough men out there without the looks and the personality dating someone?
Really? The same applies, how would you explain all those guys that do not have the wealth nor the social status and are happily married?
There’s just a little bit more to human relationships and interaction than mere evolutionary traits (which by the way I acknowledge myself). However, unless you mean intelligence and inner being (just as an example of the many things in play), as part of those evolutionary factors and traits; these two categories are just hints of something deeper and greater, more intricate.
However, in alignment with the tile of this thread:
Which would be then for you the categories for mating men filter women through?
What applies to dating?
What applies for marriage?
Is it about Genes as well?
Actually I agreed with their basic tenets from the start. The differences are more a matter of degree and personal perspective. After all, I’m a long time hardened mone user. Obviously I don’t think the role of mones is as simplistic or as significant as they make them out to be.
By such logic the ownership of a penis makes our opinion on women just as confusing and useless. Women as a class do not give bad advice about men. One thing I’ve learned in life is people are are all different. We are individuals. Stereotyping advice, intellect, etc., based on gender is just as foolish as those whom stereotype people based on race, age or weight. Basically the one responsible for stereotyping loses opportunities and suffers the loss of rich experiences they could have enjoyed.
I’m not denying that, I’m saying that men and women age the same. Women are judged on looks regardless of how old they are. If the mentality is “a woman’s value is her physical appearance and features, where as a man’s value is not in physical appearance” then yes, women get shafted as they age. Physical attraction will undoubtedly go down as we pass our prime.
/edit
I think we’re trying to say the same thing in different ways. When a man gets older and ages, he will undoubtedly be less attractive than he was when he was younger. Same with women. Let’s say that in terms off attraction, men are judged less harshly, men are judged less harshly regardless of age. Women are judged on looks, they will always judged on looks regardless of age. I was merely saying that based on sex, the sex of a person does not increase or decrease the aging process.
lol. yes we are saying the same thing
There are always exceptions to the rules.
Kinda contradicting yourself aren’t you…
We try to look good because apparently it does matter to you guys.
Now granted I do try to keep myself well rounded. Besides the cute ware I do pick up hobbies like cooking so I can bake cookies and what nots, playing piano, playing video games, and I have a job so that I’m kept busy and won’t have to rely on a guy to keep my busy or company.
I want to understand guys a little more, but perhaps the thing isn’t to get upset at the opposite sex, because I’m pretty sure there are great ones out there. I’ve found that you it’s best not to diss on the other sex, but to try and understand them and all in all better yourself because at the end of the day your gonna have to live with yourself. You don’t have to live with a women. Not saying you don’t like yourself, but even if you do don’t diss the other sex, just try to understand us. We bring to you what you don’t have. That’s why they have the whole “becoming one thing” aka marriage.
You can read this and try to understand where I’m coming from or you can chew on it and spit it out. Just thought I’d say what I felt was right to say. ![]()
While it’s true I would rather date someone good looking and I’d rather marry someone with a lot of money I would also do the latter.
Not saying I’d date someone ugly, but I have dated average guys because they had great personalities and were fun to be around.
I’ve even considered marrying some guys that I dated and they were just fresh out of school and/or still in high school at the time. The reason was because I really cared about them and they cared about me and I would rather have loyalty and honesty and someone whos caring than someone whos rich and would cheat on me or never be there. That’s not a marriage, thats torture ![]()
One complaint I have about many women is that they seem to think that beauty is all they need. You know they are often angry about how men only want sex for example. Well, if you act like a little girl all the time, talks incessantly about boring stuff, have limited knowledge, and super dramatic then its not my fault that I find sex is the only good thing I can have with you and sex is something very basic that loads of other women can offer so there is not really any incentive to stick with you forever. ![]()
