Ever heard of oil pulling? Check it out!

Thanks for the link, Mark! Yes, oil pulling has done wonders for my sinuses. I guess an underlying sinus issue was the cause of my snoring… I had no idea. The first time I did oil pulling, my sinuses immediately drained. And I hadn’t even realized they were stuffed. LOL

Good luck!

Goddess, I love this forum , So many new things to try

Carry on just feeling the love LOL

Tisha

Well I got my oil and I started pulling. I thought I was going to gag at first but I pulled through LOL. I cant make it to 20 minutes yet. I get the urge to swallow. Working on it though.

I will let you know how it go’s

My kids think I am nuts by the way (snort)

Tisha

hey tisha,
dont swallow, just keep on pulling! :stuck_out_tongue: You will soon get the hang of it. Sometimes people pull for 10 mins, spit it out and put in fresh oil and do another 10 mins.
You will soon find it easier and you wont even have to think about it. Hope you get the benefits too.
Cheers!

Just for awareness, here’s an article which claims to debunk some of this oil pulling business..
Oil Pulling Debunked–Does Oil Swishing Really Work?

Has anyone tried swishing water instead of oil? Just a thought arising from that article… it might even work better..

Would this work out for all ages or any age between 14 - 18? If so, will it give the same desiring results sheba had received? Is it really toxication or not? I would really like to know a new method to clean my teeth and see “actual” and fast improvements of color and health.

Hi there, wsupitstonyy

I’ve read several testimonials in which people who have gotten benefits have gotten their children involved. I think it depends on their age and whether they can keep the oil in their mouths for a period of time without swallowing. There’s really no way to tell what, if any, benefit they would receive until trying. If you and a physician can think of no physical reason for them not to try, I’d say go for it.

I’m not sure how it works, but the benefits I’ve received are enough for me to continue. I like both virgin coconut oil and cold pressed sesame oil. I think my teeth are at their whitest with coconut oil.

The debunking articles are so interesting in that they don’t really debunk anything. They’ll say, “well it does work for this, but there is no scientific evidence that it works for ______”. Or they’ll say, “It probably won’t work for _____”. But that doesn’t really mean anything. The best way is to try for yourself and see.

Heh… kind of reminds me of the argument against pheromones. The best study is the one you conduct for yourself.

I thought so too. But the different liquids thought mentioned there seemed interesting, to help understand what’s going on…

I haven’t tried using water, but I encourage all who are interested to try it.

On the low carb forum that I frequent, a woman tried using water. She, after a few weeks, said that she wasn’t getting results and would try oil. For whatever reason, she then tried flax oil, but said it tasted bad. I’m not sure what her aversion was to trying the oil pulling method, as recommended. I just feel, if it ain’t broke… you know? LOL But there’s a scientist in all of us and the need to make our mark.

Phoenix i totally agree with Sheba. The best way to find out is give it a try and make your own mind about it. I have received so many health benefits from the Oil Pulling that i have decided to make it part of my daily routine. The immediate noticeable thing is the change in the color of your teeth, becoming whiter. Virgin Coconut Oil produces the biggest change in whitening the teeth compared to other oils. This has been adapted from Ayurvedic therapies which have been practiced for thousands of years. A few days ago I saw Dr Mehmet Oz demonstrating on the Oprah show, another ayurvedic method of nostril flushing or drainage by putting saline water in one nostril and removing it from the other, thereby cleansing them. I quote him saying that this method was much more effective and safer than most of the drugs used in anti congestion, clear allergens.

I’ve tried oil pulling a couple of times before, and then stopped for no particular reason. However, I have read forum user testimonies, including one woman who provided pictures of her beautiful white teeth (despite claiming she was an avid daily smoker). I might take OP up again, but this time, I want to use coconut oil.

I got directed to this thread by Tisha, I believe, and am really keen to try it out for myself. I’ve never heard of it before, but as soon as I can find some virgin coconut oil or organic cold pressed sesame oil, I will give it a shot. We have ‘100% pure’ sesame oil at home, but I’m sure it’s not the same thing. When I go back to school, the timing will be perfect because the first thing I do in the morning is shower for 20 minutes. When I see results I will post to the thread!
