I have no idea whether or not it can have a positive or negative effect on the hits, but I figured I would ask if any experts appearing frequently in environments with many different types of music find a certain genre more effective to both flirt and be flirted with?
Perhaps the genre you like most can give an amplified effect, while music you hate can effect it negatively?
The same question for women and their approachability levels when in tune (or out of tune) with their musical environment?
Or (with even further expertise) a universal genre of music that just makes pheromones work all the better?
Just a little cranial drainage that might be useful to users and researchers alike…
Cheers.
Of course music is subject to widely varying cultural interpretation as there are no universals. Music is made up of many “languages” and these traditions are as varied as verbal languages, e.g., Korean vs German. For example, Beijing opera might make a Chinese guy horny, a Yank stressed and confussed, a Nigerian think dark thoughts and a urban teen totally blank it out and able to text all his friends without hearing a note. So while music can and does evoke strong emotions, the specifics are highly subjective and vary with the individual. I’ve seen performances so good members of the audience cried. At the same time, others were bored and indifferent. I recall saying, “that was the best performance of the Bach Fugue in G Minor I have ever heard.” The guy next to me couldn’t make heads or tails of the piece. It sounded like noise to him. Obviously he didn’t understand the “language” of Bach. Afterwards he dully said, “there are only two types of music: country and western. Everything else is just plinkin’”. And he criticized Bach for having no sense of musical organization. No shit!
My observation is increased sensory simulation is distracting to many. Why? the better or more demanding the music, the more you get into it and the less you pay attention to those around. Now in a night club it is different. The music is more like audio wallpaper and so loud you become insensitive. Gives me stress and I withdraw and give up trying to shout at everyone just to be heard.
I’ve found mones work the best one-on-one: I and a woman alone in car, booth or my office. Things are simplified, clear and in your face. No music needed unless I’m performing it. In such case the performance works better than mones.
