Maybe it’s a personal thing, but certainly wouldn’t think it was a faux pas to ask… I’d personally be quite flattered if a guy told me I smelled nice and asked me what perfume I was wearing

and another tip if you like the girl and want to approach and they are not wearing any perfume compliment them on something else they are wearing whatever it is, whether it be their shoes or some other piece of clothing and make sure you are genuine and not like it is a pick up line. It works!
there was this super gorgeous russian girl i know of that was hanging out at the cafe i was at and i was dying to ask her what perfume she was wearing because it had to be the best that i’ve come across, but alas she was surrounded by a fleet of guys and i needed a whole entire nfl offensive line to get to her. i really was curious.
