Hazard had good points. As you mentioned there are lots of ways ‘adventurous’ is interpreted. For some, if you are ‘adventurous’, they mean that you’re willing to do things they aren’t. Usually because of laws prohibiting those actions, like drugs. Drugs are often deemed ‘adventurous’ by people who are interested in trying but wouldn’t due to it being illegal and socially unacceptable.
Sometimes laws aren’t the issue, but social acceptance is. Some people might say that you’re adventurous for walking out in public with only underwear on. Others might say that only if you go out walking in your underwear, tied up and leashed.
Or, adventurous can be trying new things as Hazard said. When you’re trying something new for the first time, you’re taking a risk. Maybe you won’t like it, but maybe you will. The essence is discovering the unknown. Which is the same as being an adventurous traveler. You get to see into an unknown area. Trying new foods? Same thing, who knows how it’ll taste?
Usually though, things won’t be considered ‘adventurous’ unless there’s some degree of risk to them. That’s kinda the common theme for me, perhaps that’s just how my adventurousness manifests. Depending on the person’s level of risk tolerance, they would consider different things to be adventurous. It’s part attitude and part brass balls. It’s the attitude that you can overcome challenges and dodge the risks to do/get what you want. It’s the balls that are required to actually go and do it.
As Hazard said, being adventurous is the process of overcoming your hesitations (whatever they may be) and just doing it. Adventurous could be seen as being spontaneous. Someone randomly gives you some food. It looks clean and safe, but nothing like what you normally eat. Would you eat it or throw it away? You find a path in the forest you haven’t noticed before. You don’t know where it’ll go. Do you go down the new path or the set path?
As for actually making it into a pattern, I have no experience doing this. I guess I’d try and learn what makes her excited. Traveling gets a lot of people excited, talk about traveling to exotic places, or more ‘risky’ places that families probably wouldn’t go. Talk about trying things you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t. From there you could probably transition to talking about actually doing the things you’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t yet. Maybe, say you’ve always wanted to go skydiving and you’re finally going this weekend. Get the image of people overcoming their hesitations and going for it into her mind. Link that with her wanting to be with you, and despite having hesitations, going for it instead to finally be the ‘adventurous’ she’s always wanted to be. Tap into the need to ‘rebel’ or to realize her greatest ambitions, depending on the woman. You could also link adventurous women with being special. She’ll want to be special, so she’ll be adventurous. I dunno, something like that I guess.
