This is Nic, a newbie, sending Christmas Greetings to you all from sunny Florida!
I am, thankfully, happily married for now. Both my wife and I are practitioners of herbal supplements and essential oil products. I have been very interested in essential oil products and have done fair amount of personal experiments with myself and with our dogs! As a result, I firmly believe the wonderful efficacy of herbal supplements, essential oil and the strange world of science of smell ( though I am just a curious leaner and a serious practitioner and nothing more)
I guess I owe Popular Science magazine inside ad for introducing me at all to pheromone a couple of years ago! Until then I didn’t even know how to spell the word much less to know what it is! In fact, I still don’t know what it really is and want to find out whether it is a some kind of aromatic therapy or something totally different. I am interested in doing silent experiments on my wife ( I am not really interested in doing experiments on others ) to see whether it really affects her and how, etc.
Since both of us are very familiar with different essential oil sent and to keep my experiments secret, I thought about using an odorless sample but I read that it is not recommended. May I ask why it is so?

Well, the scent is used as a carrier of the mones. Also, some mones have, as reported by users, a distinct cat pee odor… possibly an adverse affect on your dogs…. Generally, the AD products come with 6% strength scent. The Neroli is a citrusy scent that quickly dies down and you can use your cologne to cover it. Though if you use essential oil, you may reduce the mones effectiveness. You will have to experiment. I think IShine and IO would be a great starter mone to test out…

Since you are into essential oils the scent of most of the product is neroli.. so if you have any of that lying around you can just say you are using neroli!
Your wife may not be as reactive because of how well she knows you. For someone in a relationship I would suggest the following

I had no idea that the mone was neroli based… I understand better now that even for the mone, the scent is a carrier, therefore, necessary for its effectiveness.
As pointed out by you guys, I need be careful and experiment to see what happens when mone gets mixed with essential oil flagrance already present in the house. (from air diffuser, home made perfume that she wears,etc)
I sure don’t want my dogs to be reacting to my new smell! But again it is highly probable that dogs react better to mone than my wife.( From our experience with herbal supplements and homeopathic items they actually respond much faster to them than us humans with quite remarkable results)
I appreciated the suggestions of trying IS, IO,TUTH. Given my circumstance of great familiarity with a subject and vice versa, would you recommend bumping up a normal dosage and the frequency than otherwise or less is better? Or it doesn’t matter how well you know the subject? I tend to imagine it must be a lot more complex than that…but what would you say?

I subscribe to the mantra of less is more. Though, with the mones that I get, sometimes I want to go all out with several multiple sprays!!!
What’s been suggested is that you do your ‘sweet spot’ testing. Not a physical point, but the amount of mone that will get you the result you desire. That would entail you trying a single mone for a day at a single dosage, monitoring the results in yourself and in others, then adding an additional dosage/spray/drop for the next day. Then, basically, rinse and repeat.
