Hey everyone. It’s me again! I was just curious… I’ve been having some trouble sleeping (perhaps stress related, due to my freaking major.) Sometimes it takes me so long just to be able to fall asleep, and I didn’t know if there was anything that I could use to help me wind down and relax. Right now I have IS and Ammo. I actually sprayed some IS on my pillow once the other night, just because I was curious… It actually seemed like it might have worked. I just think that if I did it regularly, I wouldn’t think about falling asleep and such, which would help me actually fall asleep. So, whether or not the IS did anything, I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
Also, I’m just curious… I know this stuff lasts longer on clothing than it does on the skin, but how long would it last on regular fabrics, like on a blanket or pillow case? If anyone has any advice or input, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
I don’t know if I would use pheromones in my sleep. Wouldn’t it be of better use to save it and use it during the day?
In any case, if you’re not able to sleep easily, do this. Go barefoot a couple hours before you sleep and get your feet cold. And then right after you brush your teeth and are about to head off to bed, put some socks on. Seriously. No joke. It really works. I tried it myself and there are actual studies that have found a positive strong correlation between the socks and sleep.
If not, just take some PM medicine. =P It’s probably cheaper than using pheromones to help you sleep.
Go to Wal-mart and buy these two supplements (I used to be in the same boat): Melatonin & Valerian Root. Valerian Root will help relax you to fall asleep, and Melatonin will keep you knocked out for atleast 8 hours. They are generally inexpensive, and will have you waking up refreshed, rather than groggy like cold medicine does.
Melatonin is far less toxic than that pharmaceutical crap that drugs you to sleep. Melatonin works with your body to put you to sleep THE RIGHT WAY. Don’t take it for a long time though because after a while your body will “forget” how to fall asleep by itself. But remember, it is FAR LESS TOXIC than prescription sleeping pills.
I’ve had great results with Melatonin. Takes about 5 minutes to kick in for me. Your body produces Melatonin to make you sleepy so there are no side effects. However it won’t defeat a head full of worries, a late dinner of junk food/coffee or if you’re hyped up after exercise or an action movie. Eat an early dinner and give yourself some space to mellow out. Helps me to read something boring, e.g. the Holy Bible.
The only pheromone that might help relax you is EST. I don’t use it for sleep but sometimes it helps before I step out on stage.
A buddy of mine uses melatonin and says it’s very effective.
Something else you may want to try is getting some Tart Cherry Concentrate. You can find it at walmart in the organic produce section. It’s by the POM juice, Nake, ect. Take a teaspoon before bed.
IS seems to give me energy. I don’t know how effective it would be as a sleep aid. Spaceland however seems to have a small effect, but I can’t get accurate results. I have mild insomnia, so I take Ambien at times. At 10 mcg, it still doesn’t work at times . 20 does the trick for the most part.
I have a problem with sleeping pills…it doesn’t affect me even I tried taking larger doses. When I take sleeping pills, I will stay awake the whole night! And also I found out substance like marijuana, heroin and alcohol doesn’t have effects on me! I began to wonder why!
Well, I wonder what Melatonin actually is..a product from US named “Sex Devil” which could arouse women’s sexual desire instantly contain Melatonin and Penis Canitis. It comes in a 10ml quantity bottle but without indicating the dosage.
Sorry for the lateness of this post. I don’t venture into the men’s forum very often. I hope by now you have already gotten over your insomnia, but if not, I hope this information will help. I know how frustrating and exhausting not being able to sleep can be!
I have had trouble falling asleep since I was seven years old. I am a classic “night owl”–I get a surge of energy around 8 or 9 pm at night which makes it difficult to fall asleep. I also have the classic Racing Mind–you know, where your brain just won’t shut off. I have a whole arsenal of tricks to fall asleep, and here are a few.
Environmental:
Don’t use your bed for anything but sleep and or sex. If you read, watch TV, study, or use your laptop in your bed and/or bedroom, it can cause your body to associate activity with your bedroom instead of sleep. (I’m not sure what people in studios or dorm rooms do)
Try to keep your bedroom free of clutter and/or neat and clean. Your bedroom should be a sanctuary from the outside world.
Food/Drink
Don’t drink caffeine after 12 pm.
The following things can disrupt your sleep pattern: alcohol, caffeine, nicoteine.
The old wives’ tale about warm milk is true. Heating up milk releases a chemical which can make you feel sleepy.
Celestial Seasonings makes a tea called “Sleepytime” which can also work.
Herbal
Valerian/melatonin are a good combination for sleeplessness. There is also a product called “SleepMd” which dissolves very quickly in your system and which I have found to be effective. It contains both melatonin and valerian, along with a few other items. I believe they have it at GNC. HOWEVER, please treat valerian with the respect which it deserves. Even though it is a herb, and therefore, natural, it can be a potent medicine.
Mind/Body: A few ideas. Your mental state and relaxation can be directly affected by your breathing.
As you lie in bed, imagine that your body is made up of balloons. Each part of your body is a different balloon: your feet, your lower legs, your thighs, your abdomen, chest and so on. As you breathe slowly in and out, imagine each of the balloons deflating and sinking into the bed, relaxing completely. Start this visualization with your feet and work your way up.
Starting with the number 300, count down as you inhale and exhale slowly. Each inhale is a number, each exhale is a number. Focus on the numbers and breathing, and only on the numbers and your breath.
Miscellaneous
I have also found hypnosis CD’s to be helpful as they relax me and cause your brain to go into more relaxed wave patterns.
I hope this is helpful to you! I’m sorry it doesn’t contain anything about pheromones, but my heart goes out to anyone who can’t sleep and I just felt I had to share this. . .:o
