I was chatting to the friend I met whilst using 37.5 mcg (about) of P79; the guy who told me about his life story - inclduing being railroaded by the cricket authorities. Nice to see his mate Herschelle; they played WP Schools together; hit six 6’s in one over at the World Cup.
Any Aussies on the forum going to watch South Africa slaughter you guys on Saturday? Ponting, Kallis, Smith, Gilchrist, Symmonds, Kemp - should be a cracker!
I love Luca Toni - perhaps for slightly more innocent reasons! First player since the mid-50s to score 30 goals or more in Serie A. Great player. Limited; but has squeezed every ounce out of what talent he was given. And I respect players and people like that.
If Totti could bring even 60% of his club form/ability to the Azzuri; they be so much better for it. He is deadly for Roma. By the way in 2001 when Roma won the Scudetto; a group of psychologists did a study and it was shown that there was an increase of something like 35% of sex amongst Italian couples on days when Totti scored AND took his shirt off whilst celebrating.
ah yeah! ronaldhino - i totally forgot about him. I have to admit I’ve never seen Ballack play - you don’t get much football stateside, unless you subscribe to Fox Soccer Channel, but I try to give Rupert Murdoch as little of my money as possible. So pretty much everyone i’ve seen play, it’s been in the World Cup. I’m so disappointed i have to wait another 4 years. Well i suppose 3 now.
btw - is it just5 me, or does it seem like all the psychologssts actually study in italy is how much sex folks are having?
West Indies are my squad. And I love the epl. But anyone who has ever played knows rugby union is the #1 game in the world by far. This is from a bloody yank. I love that game short shorts and all. No greater rush, no better feeling of camaraderie and feeling like you got your boys back and they got yours. Best times of my life were spent in a rugby kit or at the pitch watching other games with my mates or at the clubs pub. Yes rugby union is my game. anybody who says different (especially yanks) must be smokin crack straight up.
And hence the username Lomu11 I went to school with Ross Skeate who plays for the Stormers in the Super 14 - long shot for the Springboks this year - within the next 3 years though. As soon as Matfield has gone; as he’s a lock.
Football is my sport. Also like snooker, cricket, rugby, darts, NFL, NBA, MLB, tennis and golf.
Bring on South Africa 2010!!!
Ballack - yeah; I’m very patient as a rule with guys that take time to get going - Sheva included. Regardless of his form or lack thereof this season Ballack’s clock is ticking; and his best days are sadly behind him. Still a wonderful player and I take nothing away from what he achieved with Germany, Bayern and Leverkusen before them.
World XI:
Cech
Panucci
Lahm
Terry
Puyol
Fabregas
Gerrard
Cronaldo (as much as that hurts, lying cheat that he is)
I’m curious. What do people overseas think about the mighty mls. I as an american think it is crap and can only stand to watch it in 10 second increments spaced out between 2months.
Did you hear about Bob Woolmer? Weird goings on.
Bob Woolmer’s house is 20 minutes away from me in Pinelands - whole family stays there. Sad stuff.
MLS - is a bit of joke in world football terms. On a par with maybe Bulgaria in terms of domestic league quality. Beckham will add a curiosity element to those who follow the English top flight; but the level of play is poor and coaches are usually guys who could not get work in England in the top three leagues (Premiership, Championship or League 1) - eg. Steve Nicol.
The only time that I wanted to go to a mls match in person (or really watch for that matter) was a couple years ago when clubs like man utd. and others were touring the states and playing mls teams. Even with that it was still an mls match and I kind of lost the enthusiasm. Wish I had gone though
I’ve seen Liverpool (1994); Ajax Amsterdam (1999); Tottenham (2003) and Man United (2006) play here in Cape Town. Ajax played twice in a week and so of those five games total; only the first Ajax game, which they won 5-0; was anything more than a PR exercise for those clubs. Man United were especially pathetic; rarely broke a sweat and for that reason I would have loved to have seen Kaizer Chiefs turn them over. Sadly United won 1-0; although never looking more than half-interested in the game.
Tottenham also played Chiefs, two-three years earlier, and despite them being similarly half-hearted in their efforts seeing Robbie Keane warm-up with a ball before the game was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. He balanced the ball on his nose; like a seal.
O yeah just occured to me - Herschelle was a Springbok at football (soccer) at school; along with cricket, rugby and athletics. Still holds the Triangular 100m record. Triangular is an annual school athletics championship between Bishops (his school), Rondobosch and SACS (where yours truely went). Saw him at this beachfront bar a while back - total drunk! But a total legend too!
I knew Gibbs was a great athlete but I didn’t know all of that. I can see rugby and football but the 100m. That’s impressive. Lance Klusener was a favorite of mine. One of the most exciting pre game warmups I have seen in person is when 2 of argentinas rugby internationals dribbled the rugby ball like a football with amazing control. By the way did you see my Bermudian compatriats in the CWC. I love them but the whole countries athletic infrastructure is very amateurish. Dosen’t bode well when your openers are a plumber and a teacher by day. Also how many world class spin bowlers are 350 pounds? Their best chance to make a noise in the international game was in the early 80’s when they had a up and coming team but they couldn’t break through and get status.
