Hi from ScienceMom

I joined today because I’m interested in learning about primarily in how phermones can affect the user him/herself. I’m particularly interested in appeasement pheromones and how they can be used for treating anxiety, especially in children. I have read research on appeasement pheromones in dogs, cats and goats and am counting the days until human appeasement pheromones become commercially available. Any information anyone could share with me about this would be greatly appreciated.

I’m 43 years old and I live in the greater Washington, DC area, btw.

It’s interesting to me that very few people seem to be as interested in affecting their own moods with pheromones as opposed to the moods of others. So much neurobiological research seems to show that we can create thought and mood states by altering our brain chemistry with various chemical messengers and stimuli. Just like the action of smiling (even for no reason) seems to stimulate the chemicals that drive us to experience happiness, it would seem to me that the pheromones that we release as messengers to others can be messengers to ourselves. That feedback would be so useful in combating anxiety and depression.

hello sciencemom!

while external effects are indeed a high priority item, there are some products here that can provide intrinsic effects as well. most of them are listed as advanced products recommended only for users who establish a baseline use of the consumer line of products, but given your understanding and pursuits, i think some of them might be suitable for you.

a few results are increased focus, less anxiety, perceived beauty, and other things. these of course tie in with different advanced products. i will let other users chime in on that.

even some of the consumer products can provide intrinsic benefits. a great product often recommended is ishine. not only does it give the wearer a shiny appeal to other people, often times the wearer will notice a slight mood lift. i use it when i need a peppy boost before an important event or something.

are you also interested in effects on others, or primarily just effects to the wearer?

Hi Mom - and please don’t tell dad - lol - just kidding.

Yes these products can have some self-effects. Some of the strongest self-effects I see is using the social products - Instant Openness, Shine and Honesty. I can supmetimes experience some aggressive feelings with higher doses of none but it is not physical aggression for me - it becomes more social aggression in the sense that I can be much more outgoing and much more … well, if my wife seldom doubts what is on my mind she has NO doubts when I wear a high dose of none.

The flip side to the self-effects with Instant Openness and Honesty (talk talk talk) and Instant Shine (never had much self-effects off this one myself but lots of others have) is that after continued use for a while they tend to decrease. Sorry - but that is what most of us who have been using them for a while report.

Anyways - is there any particular direction you are looking at taking this?

Heya Science Mom!

Welcome to the friendliest forum around dealing with pheros. You make some very astute observations about pheros and self effects. From reading , posting, and using the pheros for months now I think that really heavy lifting in research on self effects is likely being done by our resident alchemists. I think the majority of people who come to the forum are looking for increased social interaction by changing others’ perception of them rather than maybe using the pheros to alter self perception and in this way help themselves better interact with others. This is an extremely valid point. So tell us, what type of self-effects are you looking for with the pheros? What are you hoping to achieve? I personally ordered one particular product, Spaceland chiefly for the self effect because I understood it to be somewhat mind altering on a really low level. It did have the intended effect, but truth be told, I’d much rather be baked. You may want to look at the putatives and experimental products. MEO-EST is supposed to have a very calming affect on women and there are a number of putatives which offer similar self effects. I think people, generally, myself included, tend to think issues are best solved by effecting other people rather than effecting themselves, which is likely why you see the great majority of the posts coming from that sort of perspective.

Welcome to Pherotalk Mom!

We are human and so initially when we hear about pheromones or come to this site we have a goal in mind and it’s usually to attract someone, achieve more success in our careers , jobs and so we are more concerned at first with how these will affect others and in turn getting us what we want.

Eventually, when we get more into it and for most of us after one or two hits we dive deeper into the pheromone world and all it’s advantages. We realize the effects this can have on us and the strangers around us and pretty soon we become more aware and we tend to become more careful and like a ripple effect life changes tend to occur.

Pheromones are no simple deal and you have come to a place that take our research seriously.

I am still ignorant of your goals and so I am unable to recommend any products at this time. If you just want to test these out I suggest you start with the socials and work from there.

I will need more info about yourself to go ahead and issue that gift certificate.

I’m particularly interested in pheromones wrt social anxiety and separation anxiety, especially in small children.

What I’ve seen is that nursing mothers have high amounts of appeasement pheromones that act on both children and adults to reduce general anxiety. Unfortunately, kids with anxiety exposed to appeasement pheromones through their mothers may then not want to be separated from the source of the appeasement pheromones, which seems to increase separation anxiety. If a child could either take an article that has appeasement pheromones applied to it with them to school or daycare or a teacher/aide could wear appeasement pheromones or a classroom could have an appeasement pheromone dispenser like FAP or DAP, then it would seem that the child’s anxiety level would be reduced substantially.

One reason for seeking such a substance out is that children are notoriously poor responders to anti-anxiety drugs. They are pretty much unusable except in the most extreme circumstances. Certainly pheromones are preferable to giving a small child Xanax.

What more information do you need?

I was thinking that maybe Shine would work with kids to reduce anxiety.

Read this link and it will assist you :

I went ahead and issued you your gift certificate. I was talking about YOU. You keep repeating what you want to use it for but I still don’t know what kind of person you are.

Are you a girly, girl. who wants to spread love and sunshine to the world or are you a direct, leader type woman who takes no bull.

I prefer not to make a definite answer in response to using these pheromones in this particular situation. I do believe these products work and that they are not harmful but this situation seems to be a bit more complicated and I will let someone else with more expertise handle it.

Good luck in your search.
