Oh, this is “reclaimed wastewater”. Called “brown water” by many locals. It really is treated sewage and it’s ironic all these yuppies choose to live with the stench in the name of manicured, perma-green lawns. Unfortunately for them, brown water is expensive, and the whole state is running out of potable water (like Georgia but a few more years left until it becomes a crisis). I have little faith the stuff is 100 percent clean, otherwise why would they warn you not to drink it?
It smells like rotting eggs or dead skunks.
The local tap water tastes sort of vaguely muddy, like agricultural runoff, medium hard. Lots of nitrates no doubt. I don’t drink it unfiltered.
Orlando/Kissimme, Daytona, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, and Panama City. All have the same suphury tasting water that just gets worse when you freeze it. Natives don’t seem to notice it of course, but as a tourista… yyyeeeecchhhh!
Actually, I do kind of notice the ice cubes taste vaguely wierd. But I’m used to it. Water tastes different everywhere. When I was in Tulsa, the water was soft… but it tasted earthy, like rotting vegetation. The water comes from a resevoir.
