Well what you have heard is wrong. Most immigrants are hard working people who do the jobs the locals wont do, work the hours the locals wont work, all for a minimum wage which is taxed, discrimination which is free and abuse which is rife. Such thoughts are based on pure neo fascist prejudice also on ignorance and a deliberate attempt to sabotage the true benefits of immigration. USA is a nation built on immigration as is Australia, they are great countries. A recent UK government report found that 97% of new immigrant were in employment within 3 months of arrival to the UK. Most of those in the asylum system actually want to work, but cant do so, and have benefits forced on them. How about Immigrants like Madonna (Singer), Roman Abramovich (Billionaire) and Alexandr Berezovsky (Russian Billionare who paid only £40 in Tax last year) I dont see them claiming benefits or free healthcare. I work in a bank were 30% of people have been in the UK for less then 10 years, cant say any of them are claiming benefits, but then they havent the time, because they’re working 11-12 hours a day.
Which may also tell us that the greatest happiness is good health. All of the money in the world is spent on hoping to regain one’s health, the appearance of health, or if nothing else, the sensation of being healthy…
It is very hard to understand rich people working themselves to death, you should look at some super-rich old people… lives of high stress, alpha-babboon-ness, no time to digest their food, much less sleep than a body needs… 
Spain does seem to have a good cultural understanding of how important it is to decompress… after work in Spain it is like national decompression mode until 10:00 p.m. then get some sleep…
There was an article in one of the New York magazines… now stress levels have reached such extreme intensities for the superstar managers, the top end has its own custom made torture environments, being on call 24 hours… these people are losing their minds and going off to become meditators, yoga, zen, tibetan thoughts… like the old samurai who had to meditate to become indifferent to death… so his application to buy an apartment in an exclusive building will be considered ? He can now have a high tech toilet ? What ?
Well, the Oath as far as I know is taken by the doctors, not businessmen. In Malaysia, (Private) hospitals are run by people whose eyes are “shadowed” by $$$$$$ in otherwords, businessmen!!!
There was a case here a few years ago where a man was having a heart attack and was brought to a private hospital. The hospital refused to treat the man before a sum of deposit money to be paid in advance according to the hospital rules!:o So, the wife left the hospital in hurry to go and search the money, but by the time the wife returned to the hospital, the man had died unattended by any doctors!:o This is what I say when a few pieces of “paper” that we usually carry in our pockets ‘overpowered’ the “human touch” and everything else in this world!:o

There ARE other countries where you had better have the $$ or you won’t be treated no matter what. 
Our system is far from perfect, but if you are a woman in labor, or anyone having a life threatening emergency, as far as I know in an American hopsital you will be treated.
The picture of American businessmen and women of being totally crass and mercenary is a distortion; many, if not most, have an altrusitic facet that doesn’t get a lot of “airtime”, as it were.
