Yes, that’s what I read, too. I mean, I’d never suggest a woman get a hysterectomy like that without first getting a second opinion. But my mom really trusts her doctors, and I was only told about the operation two days before it happened… by my dad. I expressed alot of reservations, because I had read about the procedure, and how often it is (over)done (plus I’m wary of doctors- I only go to them when I really need to go- I’m not stupid, but I’m not stupid). Again, no ovarian cancer in the family, so this kind of operation was shocking- I was thinking, “just remove the dang growths again- she’ll stop having heavy periods soon enough anyways, no doubt”.
I have read, for instance, that the ovaries aren’t “useless” even after menopause, as they continue to produce some testosterone. Unfortunately I know testosterone supplementation in women is a dicey thing. The adrenal glands also produce testosterone in women, of course, but my mom probably has about half or less of what she used to have. When I asked her about seeing an endocrinoligist about having her hormones checked, she just kind of said “but I don’t want to be a man!”. Oh well- honestly I don’t know if testosterone supplementation in women is something that is common, but I have heard a female endocrinologist, lecturing, saying it is part of her practice, in very low doses.
My mom can still be happy, but I noticed after the operation she seemed more moody and to have less energy. Then she went on hormones, and she actually got, umm, a little bitchy and had hot flashes for some reason. I would be very interested in hearing anything you have to say, Bella. Please send me a message as I’d be very interested in learning more. I think TAH might be what she wants to try- I’m not sure if she’d like copulins just yet (I’m not, umm… sure I’d like that on her, being around her it might make me uneasy? I’ll have to try copulins on myself to gauge the reaction). I’ll keep Instant Sexiness B in mind. Also, what do you think of Scent of Eros for Women? I think she’d like something simple that “looks” like a perfume, she’s not into mixing stuff.
I tried to get my mom to drink soy milk or take some soy supplements. She seems to do OK with soy milk, but she’s not crazy about the taste and doesn’t drink it often enough (I drink/eat a moderate amount of soy every week or so, maybe 6-9 servings. I’m vegetarian BTW). Some women say soy causes hotflashes, and I’m no woman so I won’t argue with them. Also, I’ve heard sweet potatoes are good, but she’s not crazy about those either (even though I personally like them, and they are on my diet- South Beach). I think ginseng would give her a little boost, too- I know it gives me a big boost in energy. But again, she’s old fashioned and not into supplements so much, unless one of her doctors tells her to take them (she’s like my grandma, not to speak ill, but she’s lazy, especially if there’s no man around to motivate her… my dad lives in DC alot of the time earning the dough and me or my brother are the “man of the house”. Now days, thanks to all the pheromones, that’s usualy me emotionally, but my brother makes alot of the other decisions).
I bought her some regular perfume, too, and she seems to be using that. She’s not used to taking care of herself much, between my grandmother, a house about $50/trip away that needs work to be sold/rented, etc., she has little time for herself. I’m trying to push her towards taking better care of herself, and for my dad to cut down on the ridiculous criticisms- he seems to love criticizing her driving, her house keeping, etc. I just told my dad a few days ago, a little sternly, perhaps over the top “you know, that’s not how you talk to somebody you are suppossed to love”.
If I had to describe my mom’s personality, it would be sort of a “girl scout” type person. She used to be very cheerful, the most outgoing person in the family (she chitchats alot), not really a “leader” type- as a girl she felt like an ugly duckling, though, compared to her sister, and she never got alot of compliments compared to her. As she’s gotten older, she’s gotten more assertive of course. She’s fairly short, too, about 5’3. I joke with her that I have her legs, because my legs are only a half inch or so longer than her’s (28 1/2 - 29 inch inseam on my part). In fact, we used to wear the same jeans sometimes- I’d give my old ones to her. She has very small, stubby hands, too (mine are sort of men’s medium, her’s would be XS). She also has very fine facial hair, transparent, that makes her look a little “fuzzy”, and she’s embarrassed whenever anybody points that out.
Oh yeah, I’m pretty sure she has some kind of pheromones left after all that. Not to be gross, crude, but I can smell my mom when I’m near her a bit (I have a good nose, remember) and for some reason it seems distinctive… not like a man really, but has some of the same smells (androstenols?).
