It’s the ingredient sold by ***
Price? Probably comes in liters. Sure, I’m interested, but I’ll need to know the price, at least in the ballpark, before I commit.
It can be very challenging to get a huge flavor and fragrance company like IFF to even respond to your emails - they deal with companies, not individuals, and will not get excited at the idea of selling a single kilogram of anything to anyone. If you can convince them you are a manufacturer (with a website, employees, sales figures, plans to buy in multiple kilos, etc) that they’ve somehow never heard of, you might get some free 1-oz samples … good luck. Usually they just ignore such queries, though.
You can get the same molecule from The Good Scents Company in small quantities. See the upper right hand corner for all the synonyms - Iso E Super is one of its trade names. (To order, you’ll want to backtrack to their home page and look under Raw Materials).

For very small quantities up to 1 oz max, I highly recommend Linda Andrews’ shop, The Perfumer’s Apprentice. Check out her wonderful resources, too - articles and formulae for the aspiring perfumer.
The following are some great posts from the past on the forum about Iso E Super mainly from King T but also one from DrSmellThis… Since Mr. megadose himself Mark is involved here, I would be interested to hear what monster doses of Iso E Super would do?![]()
The slow diffusion matrix... continued... - #10 by tacitus
Tacitus (June 3, 2006):
“tried a sample of Iso E Super… the molecule looks like the lower half of a pheromone molecule, the two hex rings…and it does have a somewhat pheromonal fragrance… some have mentioned a phero like effect from it… it is subtle, almost delicate on the skin, and appears to regulate the diffusion of other fragrance molecules. When added to a phero/fragrance mix I had put together, it mellowed the combination, making it more “transparent” to use a popular term in perfumery… interesting material there”
Iso E Super as a pheromone harmonizing ingredient
Tacitus (June 6, 2006):
"FWIW… Iso E Super is already in a wide range of fragrances although it has a mild… nearly invisible fragrance by itself. Iso E is sold as cologne via the retail product Molecule 01**.** This product is pure Iso E and a solvent. An aquaintance gave me a small vial of Molecule 01 to experiment with.

I made up a sexmix with a booster of P74, P79, P80… as well as the usual suspects.. -Androstenol, -Androstadienone, -Androsterone, a little -none to about 1 ml. in a 2 ml bottle with a couple of excellent fragrances, then filled to top off with Iso E…
Went forth into the evening and sexxed up … most excellently… magnificent experience… hung out with some folks afterwards…
The difference was the quality of the integration of the multiple pheromones
which is to say that they manifested like a single, well balanced, emotionally “useful” … as opposed to too edgy here, too lovey-dovey there, too confusing over behind the coffee table… there was instead a unity to the experience, sort of a comfortable holism, all is well, all is cool, all is in control…
What gives ? I would suspect that the IsoE molecule is like a partial pheromone in its structure, and this may act as a pheromone perception modulator (the Molecule 01 product may have been intended as a social harmonizer) that takes the edge off pheromone extremes in sweathoggy high intensity environments, clubs and bars where alcohol and androstenone flow all too freely, or environments where is pays off to play well with others and you don’t want to lay down an offensive vapor trail, like investment banks… because of its pheromone-oid structure it may alter the way the echt pheromone molecules cross a protein lipid barrier, it may directly modulate the neuro response, it may act as some form of nerve stabilizer…
Whetever its’ mode of action, it made the experience intense where it needed to be intense and mellow-smooth-social where it needed to be that way… to be continued…"
Pheromone Evaporation : Top, Middle, Base?

Iso E Super as a pheromone harmonizing ingredient - #7 by tacitus
Tacitus (June 8, 2006):
“…In my Mixmaster party blend I posted today, there is Iso E Super, in spite of the strong pheromones and the number of them coexisting, they played well togther… those on the receiving end became playful, sometimes there would be spontaneous laughter that would take over the room, there wasn’t the almost morbidly sexual fixation that can happen with too much none, it was a light champagne and breeze sexuality … I also noticed that everyone was far more relaxed about how they were perceived, they weren’t all defensive or even their ususal distancing mechanisms were turned way down… I’m hypthothizing that MEO-EST, TAC, and Iso E Super may be in the family of “wisdom pheromones” that help address the emotional health of the community, tribe, clan, as opposed to being one-on-one reproductive signals or territoriality signals…”
Advnaced carrier mixtures to deliver the goods
Tacitus (March 11, 2007):
“…IsoE Super has proven itself (sold as Molecule 01 fragrance) as a fine additive for a good, consistent way to deliver a high dose phero bombe in an agreeable fashion… seems like something is being smoothed out or modulated at the receptor zone…”
Aha ! P96.... unlike other pheromones... - #34 by tacitus
DrSmellThis (May 27, 2007):
“How did you know about iso-E-super, tacitus? Are you a perfumer? Iso-E-super is a unisex analogue pheromone, I think, although a rather weak one. Basically, it’s a musk note. I didn’t see it as femine in my own experience with it. So if a putative reminded me of it, I’d see it as unisex, like many musk notes.”
Aha ! P96.... unlike other pheromones... - #34 by tacitus
Tacitus (May 28, 2007):
"You can purchase Iso-E sold as Molecule 01 cologne… hideously overpriced, althought easily available… I’m assuming they’re got some QC for high purity Iso-E…
Iso-E has got to be one of the all around nicest phromone blending agents, it is a great civilizer, and it has a agreeable mildness, vaguely like cedar…
With Iso-E the response curve has an evenness to it, so you don’t go from state A to State B to abruptly, and you’re definitely less aware of/distracted by the transition…"
The smell of pheromones!!
Tacitus (November 2007):
"There is a perfumer’s ingredient called Iso E Super… sold at premium outlets as Molecule 01… Iso E is particularly interesting because it seems to be a “para-pheromone”… no pheromone effects by itself, however has some impact when mixed with active pheromones… makes them better accepted as a natural bodily signal instead of a UFO implantation from far out… Iso E/Molecule also reduces the scent perception of pheromones so they lose the strong… overly biological, animal thing..
luckyscent has written this blurb about it:
Aroma chemicals are used in virtually all modern fragrances to bring to recreate scents like jasmine or violet or cedar or a host of other familiar olfactory favorites. Molecule 01 is the first of its kind to pay homage to just one of these hidden delights—the not so sexy sounding Iso E Super. You know it as a sweet sandalwood/cedar-like smell…a base note prevalent in many legendary perfumes, and it finally gets to shine all on its own. The velvety woody note is highly sensitive to body chemistry and twists and turns as it evolves, enticing the wearer with an almost pheromone-like fascination. The science of scent is finally on display and is sure to delight those woody fragrance aficionados who love to venture forth and discover something devastatingly unique. There’s nothing like it in the world
(non-disclaimer: I normally add in Molecule 01 to my mixes to “humanize” them… the Young Witch says it smells “like a lot of people got together”)"
Wow… forgot I wrote all of that about one dingbat molecule… I think a lot of those discussions arose from the “diffusion problem”… i.e. how to release pheromones in a nice steady, well integrated scent trail, and avoid the spray can insecticide effect… I had found that the cocoanut fraction Monolaurin was a superior stabilizer-binder, and was also looking at interactions of P86 and P96, which seem to have integrating and stabilizing properties in conjunction with Iso E Super and Monolaurin…
I used to live down the street from IFF. Small world. I’ll call up an old girl friend who still works there later tonight.
I’ll let you know what I find out
Have experimented with iso-e super, but it has been years. It is one of the many analog pheromones used in mainstream perfumery. I wouldn’t classify it as “must have” in that world, but if I wanted to have a thorough collection of analog pheromoes, I’d certainly want some. I believe it is unisex in its effects, and acts as a trigger even though not an actual pheromone. I wouldn’t wear it by itself as a perfume, however.
All said, great fragrances ARE great fragrances for very real reasons… they elicit responses in the brain that other substances don’t, or don’t do as well. The olfactory system is unusually direct as a path into consciousness, it “reads” reality with less filtration…
In my experience, a great pheromone mix plus a great fragrance has a wallop that a pheromone (or a fragrance) taken alone simply doesn’t have.
That said, there are specific aroma chemicals that seem to do some fairly interesting things without being part of a well constructed commercial scent.
I’ve blended some downright unmarketable personal things which can be taken as erotic and novel and you couldn’t sell in a retail environment in a thousand years… they smell sexy, animalistic, but not pretty-metrosexual-CK to any degree… but no way would your nose read them as pimpy-adult vid director smarmy either…
some of my favorite additives have been:
Safraliene (they call it, “unique, hot, and twinkling” which is code speak for as near to poontang as you can get away with… gaaaad… “twinkling”… yeah dude, it’s twinkling OK…)
Javanol … almost sandalwood w/o smelling like disgusting fake sandalwood… fattens it up…
Costausol … too much smells like plastic, a little gives it an animal kick w/o too much urine skank
Cedryl Acetate … definitely a New Mexico note if there ever was one, gives an approachable warmth
Ambroxan … incredibly soothing, as a room spray it almost acts like an anti-anxiety medicine, sort of a simplified ambergris, but on the skin is more of a skin amplifier… definitely estrogenic w/o being too girly
Cosmone… supposedly a musk, by itself weirdly flat and one dimensional, in traces it seems to add a “punch through”… so you can get a little waft that punches through then settles back, instead of those nasty steady state formulations that sit there like room fog…
