BTW, despite perceived differences, I’d have to say that two great products over there are “The Edge” from LaCroy and “Pheros”, the essential oil based cologne.
As you were mentioning in another thread, Catlord, “The Edge” is fairly intense. In fact, too intense for me at anything but the lowest dosages. But at at least it “works”, and LaCroy is one of the few pheromone companies to actually give you the dosage they promise in each and every bottle. I think it’s definitely worthwhile for most people to try.
“Pheros”, on the other hand, is simply a masterpiece… truly a labor of love, by a man who’s obviously a meticulous genius. I’d say that it compares favorably to some of the world’s most expensive colognes, minus the sillage, since it’s all natural (naturals don’t have much projection as synthetics).
It’s crafted in the same way all products (pheromonal or not) should be, by a caring perfectionist.
What I mean is that I truly doubt that most creators of pheromone products actually use their own creations (otherwise they’d be better than they are). However, I’m certain the creator of “Pheros” does. This was obviously made to appeal to his own immaculate tastes, first and foremost.
This is how some of the best products to ever grace the planet were made, as you tend to be your toughest (and most immediate) critic. It’s actually a good rule to live by.
You can summarize it like this:
If, while being humble and reality centric, you can truly impress yourself with something of your own creation, then whatever that creation is, will be very likely to authentically serve (and even amaze!) others.
I have nothing but respect for the creator of “Pheros”. I wish there were more people like him in every industry.

I did not answer for catlord as I am not him, but I suspected he didn’t even try to appeal.
The mods are just volunteers and are spread around the world. I doubt that they have access to sales data. As for them replying here to catlord’s question, that would be bad form in their part to discuss something like that in public. Yeah, they could PM, but why should they take the trouble to do so here? As far as I know, Belgareth is the only one who has posted here and that was one time. I suggested contacting Bruce as it is his domain. He may not know why someone was banned, but he has the facililties to contact all of the mods to determine why. He would also be the one to override a mod’s decision in the case of an appeal.
I think I have a handle why those people were banned, it happened a couple of months after I joined there. The people in question were turning every post into ones about themselves, with hijacks and just stupid comments to serious posters. No, there was little or no public warning, but who knows what they received in private messages. As you said, the people who were banned in that block were power users so I was surprised to see it happen.
I’m not defending the mod’s actions. But again, I just feel it’s bad form to start slamming someone when you don’t know the details behind it.
Seems like a contradiction there. You say you want to know and then you say you didn’t care enough to appeal.

I know for myself that I’m sorry I jumped into this “discussion.” It’s been a waste of time and energy for me. I wasn’t trying to defend the actions of those over there, just curious if the originator of this thread even tried to find out what happened before venting off.
I think MHarris is on the cutting edge of things with his products and I’m glad I found this site. I’ve spent more money here in the last couple of months than I have all year at the other place. But this thread gives me the feeling that cliques are forming, just as they have been accused of doing at Love Scent.
There was quite an extensive thread about the product when it was first released. It may be in the archive section by now (at L-S) but I don’t recall. I did a forum search for “pheros” and although I did get one heck of a lot of hits, I did manage to find the original discussion thread that goes into it’s creation a bit.
In a nutshell however, Dr. S.T. more or less said he just twiddled and tweaked with what “felt” (and smelled) good. All sorts of stuff, including various essential oils, some rare and expensive. Including, according to the creator, some “natural” pheromones (in small quantities). There was no exact formula, it’s essentially unique, and can never be duplicated again.
I’ve ben nursing a bottle of it now for some time, saving it only for very special occasions. I did buy a second bottle to lock up for future use, and may even consider a few more botles while they are still available. It’s something I could see as a special gift, if I could even find someone worthy of it…
Besides me of course…
I envision using it as the premier cover scent if and when I ever find my magic pheomone formula. Although I hear it can do pretty well on it’s own.
Also: I understand “The Edge” to be primarily a -none plus a secret ingredient type product, and I’ve never had much luck with -none heavy/primary stuff, including TE and NPA. And yes I’ve tried some of those “classic mixes” like DD#1. <sigh> One of these days…

i know i vent infront of people i feel safe with, that wont pick apart my words and judge me, because chances are i’ll do that to myself when im over whatever it is im venting about. thats what friends are for :o

He made basically a single batch (designed to fill about 1000 bottles). There was a early release version, and then a second final tweak version. No idea how many bottles worth he actually got out of it (I suspect more than the original 1000, but nobody’s talking). It may all be bottled up, or he may still have some in a vat somewhere. Don’t know. He was supposedly going to make up something new, but haven’t seen or heard anything about, and it’s been a while. The Pheros batch supposedly took him a year and a half just to “brew.”
Oh and PS… it’s terrible stuff… don’t buy it! (at least until I get my supply…

We won’t be making a completely natural parfum like “Pheros” any time soon, but most our products are created in a similar fashion – with utmost care and dedication.
We do, however, have a new scent (mixed natural & synthetic) coming out. Again, it is from from the fragrance house that created fragrances such as Drakkar Noir, as well as Andron for Jovan.
I recently picked up a refrigerated bottle of Musc Ravangeur, since, according to those “in the known”, it’s supposed to be one of the sexiest fragrances ever created. (I’ll be offering decants of this soon, so everyone can smell it without breaking the bank)
I must say that much to my surprise, after drydown, our new fragrance and Musc Ravangeaur are actually eerily similar!
Musc Ravangeur has more of a vanilla/benzoin styrax scent, and ours most of an ever present amber note, but I doubt most normal noses would be able to detect many differences after that.

To me, it smells of most of the better essential oils under the sun… nice versions, too, that aren’t necessarily trivial to hunt down.
Chemical analysis best at identifying simple, known substances, but natural oils contain perhaps hundreds of such substances. It would be very difficult to say that “This contains 2.1% sandalwood from the Mysore region of India, .2% agarwood, and 1.3% guiacwood”. Instead, you’d get everything in terms of base components, such as linalool and santanol.
You really can’t reverse engineer something like Pheros, if that’s what you’re implying. Nor would I want to. It’s a unique work of art that was painstakingly created over a number of years by a true artisan. You should support such artists, so they create yet more works of art.
Why should I appeal? I don’t need to have access to that forum. They don’t need to have access to my opinions and observations. I don’t feel I was treated well there by a number of people. Appeal suggests I want more of the same. By the time they banned me, I was really wondering why I was going there anyway.
Why should I care why they banned me? It was idle curiosity at first, but then I remembered the difficulty I had communicating with some of the people over there. I can conclude with a high degree of certainty that I was probably banned because I disagreed with “the wrong people” and because I simply could not seem to communicate effectively with others. So whatever reason I was banned, almost certainly stems from one or both of those, and in neither case is anything going to change by knowing that.
What makes you think I’m venting? If you want to see some venting, go read the Pherlure thread over at LS. You’ll see some of my venting there as I lost my cool trying to get some people to see my point of view. This is not venting. I have since learned that it’s just a forum, there are people out there who simply do not think or communicate in a compatible manner, and it’s not worth getting upset over.
And I’d hardly call it a clique, it’s more like a group of people who discovered that other people had had similar bad experiences.

It seems that you’re trying to win some kind of argument instead of reading what Catlord wrote. He said he was mildly curious as to why at first but then thought about it and it became unimportant. And if you notice, he wasn’t venting on that first post…it seems most of the repliers were venting. Catlord just asked a question and then realized he didn’t care much about the answer.
i agree. it’s just a shame that i’d have to go through LS to get another bottle.
like a previous poster on this thread, i am nursing my bottle of Pheros because when this bottle is gone, it’s gone as i would never purchase another product from that website or bruce in particular.
