Hey Ariadne, sounds to me like he’s into you, but kind of nervous or to intimidated to really let you know or pursue you, so he’s testing the water and hoping that you’ll make the first move or at least give him the green light that you’re open to taking things to another level.
His questions about your ex, taunting you about Mr. Darcy, having to sit next to you, the book conversation, the daily smell sessions and the flirting add up to make me think that he’s interested in more than just friendship with you.
My suggestion: The next time you get to your desk and he’s already seated, walk over and drape an arm accross his shoulders and offer the other wrist, and ask him what he thinks of whatever phero/perfume combo you’re wearing. And as you do so, be sure to pay attention to the look in his eyes and his body language.
And on to a question for you. Why are you limited yourself by saying that you want to find a nice straight laced older man? What if Mr. 23 Year Old turned out to be a totally different guy outside of work and happened to be everything you ever wanted, but you missed out on seeing it because you’re set on finding an older guy?
I’ve known 20 year olds that were mature far beyond their years, and 40 year olds that were completely immature and irresponsible.
And most importantly and as I told you the other day, STOP LOOKING! First of all, if you’ve made up you’re mind that you want to find somebody and are actively looking, you will tend to settle, just to have what you think you want. Second, when you’re actively looking for a relationship there’s none to be found, at least none worthy of being in.
And to repeat myself once more: It’s really only when you are content in being alone and realize that you don’t need somebody else to complete you, but might enjoy having someone around who compliments you, that you’ll find that special someone.
