Does anyone know how Jovan Sex Appeal compares to Andron
I don’t think there is any comparison.
Back in the day - 1980s, JSA was the more raunchy of the two products as it contained Androstenone, whilst Andron was mainly, if not all Androstenol. People used to mix the two in equal proportion to create a more youthful-oriented product. My first intro to phero-mixing. I’ve not seen the phero-product on sale anywhere since the early 2000s and that was remaindered stock - wish I’d bought the lot now but a mate was doing just that!
However, I think the take-over by Coty saw them ditch the mones altogether and it is just a scented product/brand now - although some of its scent components are accepted to have phero-like or phero-enhancing properties.
It would be interesting to take a bottle and add a none/nol mix to see how it performs today.

Not a hoot about pheros on either the Coty or Jovan websites and on a quick look, I can’t see anything referencing pheros in the modern product - It could be that you are seeing images of the old packaging and you do occasionally see pre-Coty product crop-up on ebay or the like but i don’t know how much you would trust the veracity of someone selling what must be pushing 20-year old cologne?

Jovan sex appeal has no pheromones in it. Its a blend of spices and herbs used for centuries as aphrodisiacs.
Andron had Civet, Musk, Ambergris, Castoreum, Androstenol
The anol was derived from truffles, not human pheormones.
Civet from the anal glands of the civet cat and Ambergris (whale barf) Both are thought to have aphrodisiac properties.
If you look on Amazon they do have someone selling old original bottles of Jovan Musk with pheromones. Very pricey though. $250 bucks for some nonhuman anol is ridiculous.

These products work on the concept of scent not pheromonally. Pheromones trigger certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Doesn’t matter what they smell like. Musks trigger a scent memory.
I am not saying Jovan is not good. People loved them, I still have a few bottles around somewhere but you cant really compare them to pheromones.

There are lots of substances that are not pheromones that are believed to cause arousal and attraction. Some are pretty good. They just work on a different level then mones.

Very little and not human anol.
Certain substances have a similar smell to human musk and this is what people are responding to.
For instance suppose your grandma always made apple pies. Everytime you smell them she would come to mind creating a warm comforting feeling. This is scent response. Your usually conscious of the scent to some extent
Pheromones are molecules that travel through the olfactory system to the brain receptors and trigger a neuro response . Your not aware of the smell in fact it doesn’t matter if your chosen carrier smells like shit it wil still connect with the receptors and cause the same response.

How do you know so much about what all the products had like jovan etc?
I have been using pheromones and independently researching them a long long time. Its just something that interests me and I am good at researching subjects that interest me.

I remember research JSA and Andron at the time - the start of my interest in pheromones - and choosing Andron and not buying JSA.

No. The pheromone A-nol in Andron was “sourced” or extracted from truffles or somesuch.
A human pheromone is a chemical that humans respond to. It can be obtained from truffles, pig nuts, or synthesized in a chemical laboratory. A-nol is now available as a manufactured article of commerce.
why did andron not use human pheromones then?
The definitions we’re using are fuzzy. Let’s see if we can clarify.
A “human pheromone” can mean several things. Earth’s biology has produced many, many pheromones as a way for one member of a species to communicate to another member of that same species.
- a chemical that a human’s nervous system reacts to as a pheromone and is chemically identical to one a human produces
- an extract of a human or human secretion (sweat) that the human uses to communicate with other humans. A human produced the human pheromone.
- a chemical that the human RESPONDS to that is not identical to a chemical a human produces but it has the effect of a pheromone.
For #1, our chemical suppliers usually start with plant materials and then treat them in the laboratory to make pure A-none or A-1. Some of these appear in plant materials like Swedish fir trees. Others are close and need only a simple treatment and purification.
The famous dirty tee shirt experiment used #2 but the humans are NOT the source for the pheromones we buy here.
One can argue that Himalayan deer musk is an example of #3. We humans have a response through our pheromone system to the pheromone of another species. That’s a side argument.
I think the best usage of “human pheromone” is those chemicals that have subconscious communication signals between humans. A synthetic that is identical to a pheromone produced by a human would then be a “human pheromone” but its source would be an organic chemistry lab.
Andron did contain a human pheromone (A-nol) but obtain the chemical from a plant source and purified it in the lab before mixing it with the other ingredients.
One of the best early works on pheromones is contained in E.O.Wilson’s “Sociobiology.” One startling fact is that the pheromone theoretical bandwidth is greater than vision or hearing!

I would like to try but slow to buy. I think a lot of results is because people are looking for it. Example i noticed some very good looking girls looking at me today. had I pheromones i would maybe have credited them.That is post hoc reasoning
