Hi everyone!

So nice to be here.
I’m 40 years old married to a beautiful wife and have 3 grown up kids now, 24, 20, 17 .

In my youth in the 80’s I had ONE bottle of Andron. I used it everyday and just loved it. Mostly the scent. Wasn’t really interested in the Pheromone aspect of it. In fact, didn’t even know it had pheromones until a few years ago…duh.

Of course I know its gone, I’ve looked on and off for years to no avail except the ebay adds.

Now I read somewhere on this forum that the Admin here mentioned that he worked with the same group that created Andron in the first place and that he could get Andron analysed and maybe come up with a formula that smelled the same but used the newer pheromones for the mix.

What ever happened with that? I would pay ANYTHING to have that scent back on me pheromones or no pheromones.
Please tell me that since that post you’ve done it! lol.

I just cannot understand why it is SOOO difficult for Jovan to release the formula for the scent alone and let somebody else put it back on the shelves. Are they stupid? They could make a Fortune making this again.
I would pay $200 easy to have this stuff again. I know a lot of people would.

It was special. It was a part of my youth and YES as I get older I feel the mid life blah coming on and having this unique scent would be a really nice diversion…lol.

I have often went through the BAY and Sears and tested hundreds of scents and NONE were quite like Andron even though they were 10x more expensive.

I cannot believe how upset I am over a stupid scent I cannot find anymore. I swear its worse than an itch I cannot get to.

Please bring this Magic scent back. Someone.

And where is Jovan on this issue? Whats there excuse? Why would a company take the one product away that a lot of folks liked? I say get off the pot or let someone else make it. Can’t be THAT hard.

However, AD has some good and interesting scents of their own, so you might want to try?

I read the thread. Not really interested in winning anything. Someone else can have that privilege.

I guess my frustration lies in the politics of this whole thing.
I’m interested in why it was discontinued and why Jovan after so many people missing it never moved to put out a modern “legally acceptable” version of it. After all, its the one product they made that gained so many fans.
Sex Appeal? Blah. Musk…Nah.

I wish Jovan or some ex-employees who worked on Andron would set the record straight about what happened, why it happened and why it cannot be resurrected. Such a shame.

Hopefully someone will speak out. I understand I have no “right” to know, but I’d like to anyway.

Jovan was bought out in a corporate take over by Coty. As often happens with take overs its not about the product line its about control of the competition. Take overs are complicated. Sometimes you can take over a company but depending on how the formula for Jovan was created and patented that may not be part of the take over. Perfumers are very protective of there formulas and its not enough to buy the name. So Coty bought the name but not the original formula. They cant make Andron simply because they have not yet been able to duplicate the formula. Because Coty is such a huge growing corporation its about bottom line. They make more with there other acquisitions so basically they just put Jovan on the back burner and moved on to what improves there bottom line.

I will say it wasn’t about the actual pheromones in Andron that made it so appealing. It had very little really. It was about the musks used and Mobocaster is correct some are not approved for use in commercial products any longer. Another reason its not cost effective to try to duplicate it. They do have a line though its just not the same without those musks they can no longer use. Some things can not be duplicated and you have to let go and move forward.

Its not likely Harris will respond. So you will have to settle for me for now LOL

I know Oak Moss was in it which was recently banned a few years back. That affected the origonal Ammo scent which was amazing.

Sandlewood, Pacholi, wood resins.

Musk, civet, ambergris and Castoreum. Some of these have been banned because they are musks derived from animals. Castoreum comes from beavers, Civet from the Meer Cat and ambergris from the barf of whales and its expensive and hard to come by.

I am sure there are more notes but these are just the ones I remember off hand. Oh and the pheromone was anol in both the male and female version.

I am up to finding something similar though (If only in scent) if possible.

Are there any scents (phero’s or no phero’s) that have a similar “mood” that Andron had?

I have researched one ingredient so far “OakMoss” and have found that chemists can actually remove the offending molecule while still keeping the “scent” in tact.
On to the next…
So after much more research, the molecules that make up civet, ambergris and Castoreum have been synthesized. Although I’m not sure if they are as effective as the original source, it would seem that all the ingredients to make Andron again are available. Legally.

Andron seemed to rely more on “old tech” perfumery techniques than on new pheromones.

The musk, and other animal products were known for hundreds of years to have sexual overtones.

The A-nol in it might have lightened the animal bases but probably contributed little to it’s sexual stimulative effects.

I wonder how one would replicate Andron these days, knowing what we know about pheromones. Unfortunately, some of the classic base notes are no longer available commercially, as Tisha notes.

If one wants real Tibetan deer musk, I think you have to get it from the Middle East. I bet it is available in Dubai.

I see this was posted in 2012 BUT…Same Boat your in.. I found California by Dana very close. It’s also pricey now. But Andron is over 100.00 an ounce on ebay. I would look into California. you may be impressed has he sandalwood and musky overtones Andron had. Good Luck

She told me later the smell made her go nuts! Let’s figure this concoction out somehow?? I’m using Ammo, Shine, A314 and some random “pilot mones” to no avail.
