confidence boost: well, here’s what I did.
study study study. I tried to read as much as I could about the products, what they did and who had what experiences. I started to form ideas on how it would suit me best with my personality type and it became sort of a hobby.
When I went out to meet girls, I felt like I had some armor on with what I was wearing. If I failed, I must have done something wrong with the product. (In my head, it wasn’t me screwing up if I couldn’t get a girl to get interested.) It gave me a level of comfort. Mix that with the next point:
Study the art of flirting and saying hi to girls. Most guys fail because they go up to a girl and say “Hi my name is …I think you’re pretty.” ERRRRRP! WRONG! That puts you in “average joe” category which is boring. Study the scene , look for things to talk about (little things of no importance) wait for your chance to introduce an icebreaker in a nonconfrontational “warm” way, then remove the target from your attention. Make them want to be near YOU.
I went to a concert a few weeks ago, saw a girl make eye contact a bit too long. I went down the hill to go find her a bit later, but instead of approaching her, I stood about 10-15 feet away and pretended to ignore her. I studied a bit looking for an opener. She was wearing galoshes: there’s my neg. Now I need a way to say hi.
Bam. She moved to start dancing in the isle right next to me but behind me some. I turned over my shoulder, not facing her directly, smiled and said, “I wouldn’t stand there.”
Her: “Why not?” <her subconscious is saying, this guy is talking to me, but I have no idea what he wants. Better find out>
Me: “Because you’ll get knocked over.” and I turned away again.
Her: “I’ll be fine.” and she starts to dance again. <subconscious: who the hell does that guy think he is? is he a know it all? an ass? he can’t possibly know more than me…>
Sure enough, some drunk lady came barrelling down the isle way (downhill) and slammed into the back of her. I caught her and held her up a bit, smiled warmly and said “See? You ok? Why don’t you stand over here by me <out of the isleway.”
Then I stopped paying attention to her again.
<subconscious: “who IS this guy?”>
I caught her looking over at me, so I went in for the neg. Looking at her rainboots, I pointed, smiled and said with a grin “Was it suppsed to rain today?” (clear sky at the time.)
She gets smart and responds: “Actually, it IS!” she snipes.
I smile again: “So I guess your dad is a weatherman?”
She smiles back and laughs. <Subconscious: Ok, this guy might be worth something. Girl defense wall is down. He’s ok.>
Me: “Hi, my name is xxx”
Her: “I’m Heidi.”
We talked for the rest of the concert, sealing the deal with a number exchange and a text from her that night.
Be elusive, be somewhat “sassy,” be charming. The same set of rules applies to making friends as it does to picking up potential dates. there’s a “feeling each other out” period where you can’t disclose too much about yoruself. I compare it to 2 dogs sniffing each other before they decide they like each other.
Success breeds confidence which breeds more success. I’ve gotten 4 numbers off 3 tries so far. 2 dates. 5 makeouts with 2 girls. I’m having a blast. If you can master talking to girls, guys will be drawn to you. They’ll see you as a leader and source. My buddies are wanting to hang out with me more because I’m having the courage to approach girls on my own and give them something to talk about the next day.
I have a date with the last makeout girl, and she left clawmarks on my back from a public kissing session. I’m proudest of that one, I’ve been spewing it all over this board.
“I think she likes me man.”
“How can you tell?”
“Wanna see the claw marks on my back?”
Make a wild story like that for yourself, and the general public WILL find it interesting, I promise.
