Men? even Ladies? Ingrown hair, razor bumps from shaving?

If razor bumps disgust you, don’t continue with this :stuck_out_tongue:…

Hi, I was shaving 2 days ago, i noticed that before there was very few (maybe 2-3 at max red spots while using this new razor for about 2 weeks, shaved maybe twice..and trimmed the other times under my chin to the soft area of the neck.) Now I have “small red spots” that are pimples , not really irritating but it did irritate a little yesterday. Is the pimple caused from ingrown hair that is infected from the razor? Also I used the razor to shave a part on the back of my neck with this razor (to keep everything clean and fresh looking) and I noticed, just 1 pimple surrounded by small hair growing around. Is this also an ingrown hair? This pimple is slightly bigger than the ones under my chin. I tried to touch to follow some youtube videos/ yahoo answers advice.. and tried to squeeze the sides and see if there is hair popping out..couldn’t really see properly..its at a bad angle.

The one in the back of neck, its between the ear and the back of my neck on the left side. more towards back but slightly on side. ANYWAYS, when I turn to the left, I feel something sort of pulling/hurting. It might be the bump touching my skin or what else?

Anyways, if any of you know how to get rid of this, please help

P.S. Does anyone know if it goes away by itself? I won’t shave for a few days at the least.. It’s mainly on the middle of the neck where the hair stops growing and maybe 1 or 2 under the chin, which is the soft area.

My husband and son used to get them from shaving. Its more common in men because they has rougher thicker skin.

I am sure there are products you can buy in the store for it or the dermatologist can give you but I just make a aspirin ointment for them and it does the trick. You may want to try it.

Take a big bowl and fill it with really hot water. Be sure you have a smaller bowl that will fit into the hot water in the big bowl.

Take the small bowl and put in the hot water.

In the small bowl put in 6 crushed up uncoated aspirin
1 teaspoon of water
1 teaspoon of honey.

Mix it up in the little bowl till its paste.

Then dab it on the area with the ingrown hair.

You can cut the recipe down. I make alot because its good for zits and my 16 year old uses it. Just keep it covered and refrigerated.

Tisha

If you’re getting red bumps from shaving, these stems from germs getting into the lower layer of your skin. Don’t use shaving cream, instead use anti-bacterial hand soap to keep the germs out of your skin. You’ll never see the red bumps again.

Thanks  I will try both out!

A salicylic-based cream (or the homebrew version recommended by Tisha) will help. Also, there are post-shave oils that will help soften the skin and prevent these ingrowing hairs.

Also, look out for any follicles that have multiple hairs sprouting from them. I’ve had a few of these and they seem to result ingrowing hairs on a regular basis (an infection of a follicle can cause these tufts). If you see any of these multiple hairs (they will seem thicker and bristlier than normal) I suggest a visit to a beauty salon and get them zapped with electrolysis.

Recession blows :frowning:

^^THANKS, I tried the warm shower, applied soap and put on shaving cream on top of the soap. It worked pretty well, the razor might be “too” sharp or accurate lol.

Persoanlly, I steer clear of the multi-bladed razors - they are too sharp and I find they cut way too close, causing me more problems than they solve.

A good electric shaver is a lot easier on your skin. I use a Braun (self cleaning type) and have never suffered a cut or razor bump.

I use a good after shave…it burns but you’ll never get them…When I dont use aftershave I get them!!

i used to get them BADLY until I switched to a remington electric. now i get less than half of the ingrown hairs that i used to. and the ones i still manage to get are very superficial compared to the deep painful ones left over by disposables. i think it’s because disposables leave the (cut) ends of the hair sharp so they can make their way into the skin easier.

Seems Electric shavers never shaved close enoghf for me???

you def have to work a bit longer and go over the same spots a few times to get a close shave but for me it’s worth getting less of those f&%$ ingrown hairs
