Heh… quite unfortunately mistakes how I learn… I’m one of those personalities who starts running before I’ve figured out where I’m going (which is oftentimes into a wall) - I like to think I get there faster… just with a couple extra bruises
My LTR absolutely hates this about my personality… it’s funny how opposites attract
You’re not alone man, I think most guys are like that. I’m the same way, it sucks but yet we still continue to do it. Ah, I hate it but what can we do? We’re guys! Only thing we can do is actually try to be better for the sake of all that is good.
That’s just it; he needs to make his own mistakes, so let him. So he wants to learn Pick Up? So what? A lot of guys use those techniques, in the long run, as a route to maturity and enriching the self. They lack esteem and confidence. Learning Pick Up gives them the tools to start projecting confidence and gaining some attention from females. In turn this starts generating confidence. Sure, this doesn’t happen for all, but give the guy a chance to live his life.
I get the feeling Revivia uses this forum as a sounding board for his thoughts more than most users, which is why I think it seems like he asks for advice and then rejects it. Who doesn’t do this many times over the course of 24 hours? Everyone does, in their head. They just don’t broadcast it.
He’s already said he’s going to be heading to college soon, so he will be out amongst other people and able to put the things he’s asked about here to practice.
Maybe Steve can weigh in on this thread on how learning Pick Up enriched his life. Maybe he was in the same sort of situation Revivia is before he started? Would people consider Steve to be someone who looks for short cuts and the easy way out? I certainly don’t.
I don’t think Tiger is meaning to tell revivia how he should/not live his life if that’s what you’re getting from her posts. All she is basically saying is for him to yeah, just live his life the way he wants to. She’s just saying it in a more straight forward way a mom would tell her teenage boy; sure it may sound rough but it’s all meant to enrich the kid. Tiger just seems to have a like it or hate it tone to her comments, but that’s just the way she is. Doesn’t mean she is talking down to revivia.
This shouldn’t turn into a heated argument, not saying that it is but I fear clashing minds would make this turn into one. So really, just let Andrew do and ask as he pleases and if you don’t like the fact that he doesn’t take your advice then just don’t chime in at all. It’s plain and simple, and no this comment is not directed to anyone at all. I’m just saying that if you feel that way, then to just not chime in at all. No biggie, as we all have our own lives to live anyway so why worry about his? Again, I don’t mean this in a bad way. I’m just saying that yes it is good to offer advice, but get into a little debate about it (if any) is not going to help, when you have your own life to worry about.
Playing Devil’s Advocate is my way. It’s the way I write. It’s confrontational, but not personally so. I just like to point out all angles. That doesn’t mean I’m talking down to anyone, either.
That also doesn’t mean I subscribe to any angle I point out, by the way.
The problem with PUA is that it is dangerously easy to start deriving your self-confidence from a place OUTSIDE YOURSELF. PUA’s are easily trapped into getting confidence from the girls that they pick up - They get into a into a relationship or some other mental where they are no longer trying to pick up and suddenly they find themselves becoming negative and doing all those things that come with loss of self-esteem.
I speak from some degree of experience here - I didn’t know about the community but I started to pick-up after a break-up. It turned out that I had some natural skill and I got a huge amount of confidence - those 6 months I felt like I could conquer the world and any girl that crossed my path… Unfortunately I had derived alot of that confidence from the acceptance of the girls I was picking up.
Long story short - I get into another serious relationship… Honeymoon period ends and suddenly my self-confidence is shooting through the floor because of the normal post honeymoon relationship blues (Anybody who has had a couple serious relationships knows EXACTLY what I am talking about). I had derived so much of my confidence from outside of myself that when those outward sources dried up (once the relationship hit that first sour note) I had nowhere to get confidence.
Let’s just say the next year and a half of my life was not fun - nor was it fun for the girl.
True confidence, the kinds that always sticks around, comes from a genuine place within yourself. The PUA culture makes it all to easy to take your confidence from the success you have with ladies -
Not saying that you are. Hope you didn’t take my post the wrong way, as I like to be neutral with everyone and basically just bring the peace. Throws up peace sign.
Hey asked for insights and since he asked I felt I should give him my insight. I’ve always believed that everybody is entitled to my opinion.
I say you come off as needy because in my book you aren’t reading the bok in public because it is interesting, you are, by your own admission, reading it to grab attention. Attention whores always loose. A strong frame is all you need and a book is not the key to frame control.
A woman is not going to be excited by a guy reading a book about being an ass to women. being an ass to women is not the answer to seducing woman at all. Use your personality and get yourself a mentor and follow through.
I don’t know you or much about you other than what I’ve read here and so far I have read numerous threads by you, with every one trying a new gimmick. It doesn’t seem as if you follow through much on anything.
Adriane, you are right, I was 20 once and I wish to God Almighty that someone came along and set me straight when I was that age. Revival is asking for help in all his threads and it seems as if he’s ignoring long-term commitment and seeking short term gimicks. Gimicks don’t get you laid, personality, attitude, confidence does.
Oh and one more thing revival, the best advice I could offer you is dont take any advice from women on how to pick up women.
Well said Incredulous. My name is Revivia btw lol, but its all good . I have been told many times by different people to not listen to women’s advice on the issue of how to date better with women and/or being more successful with women. Women are smart, dont get me wrong, but they are incapable of knowing what a guy is looking for, and using that knowledge to help us get what we want.
"… erm… PUA in training… I think he wants the books/advice to become some sort of PUA master-jedi-mind-trick-panty-dropping-beast. "
HELL YES!!!
I want to learn aspects of NLP, hypnosis and PUA and combine those 3 things to fit my own person. Btw I love Tucker Max’s book and I have already read a few stories, so no its not because I am an “attention whore”. I think that is a tad judgemental considering you have never talked to me before. Btw to clear any misconceptions. I am currently a college student. I finishing my last semester of community college, and transferring to a university next fall.
