need help convincing someone!

Hey there everyone, you might have read Alex Robinson’s pheremone quest thread and noticed that I am on a quest to get alot of pheromones, but am lacking Cash$$$$$$$$.

However, something happened that is good for me. My dad talked to me (17 years old here), and he said that whatever I needed to be happy, he would most definitely do for me.

I am having some self-esteem issues while getting myself out of depression, and ever since I came onto this site, I feel as if though I found a way that could be able to almost instantly (with work on my part too), get me out of this depression 100% and boost my self esteem.

My dad said that he would not mind spending 300+$ on pheromones that actually work, however, he says that I am too young to be worrying about this stuff, and that these pheromones will mess up me and my medication.

He also says that just taking a shower and wearing five dollar cologne is the best “pheromone” in the world…, lmao

Any suggestions on how to “close this deal” and get everything all good and done?

Thank you to all who help me out!

If you have 10 bucks, maybe you can order some of these?

Pheromones aren’t going to kick you out of a depression. Yes they can help you raise your confidence levels by experiencing the way people treat you because of the pheromones effect, and even the self effect can do this, but they are not a fix for anything. Even if they do help you lift yourself out of a hole it will be a slow process.

From experience with depression and self esteem issues, it is more important to understand that you have value and people should take note of it. There is probably an issue or two that create your self consiousness. Try to work on improving them. It may be a simple as trying to have a positive outlook on life, or puting yourself outside of your comfort zone for social interaction. What’s the worst thing that can happen. Somebody doesn’t like you? Who cares. There will be plenty of people like that throughout your life. Conversely there will also be plenty of people who accept you and take pride in knowing you. If you are having a problem with appearance, try to work on it. Do some exercise, or get some fashion knowledge. The better you dress the better people will treat you.

Maybe you are to hard on yourself? If so, try to relax about faults. Everybody screws up now and then. Some screw up all the time…lol, but if we dwell on those things it will only bring one even lower.

Being 17 in HS can suck. Once you graduate the entire world seems to shift. The stupid HS drama is gone. You don’t have to see the people who you dislike ever again (unless in passing), and honestly you may come to meet up with them later and be astonished by personality changes.

I know I have friends who I very much disliked in HS. They are alright people now.

Now…if you want some pheromones to help lift your mood when you feel a little down, then yes, they can help, but they aren’t as spectacular as you are hoping.

Try some instant shine. It makes me feel a little better when I’m down.

Also if you don’t mind me asking what med are you on?

I just posted this…forum filter ARG!

ok…so the forum keeps filtering out my post

I’m pming it to you

Your father may have a point.

Some pheromones tend to “burn out” the wearer. For instance, sometimes I go to sleep a few hours after I put on a heavy dose of IH. There has been speculation here on the forum that some of the pheromones may have an influence on neurotransmitter levels.

It is not inconceivable that if pheromones do influence neurotransmitter levels then they might interfere with medications used to treat depression, which also influence neurotransmitters.

Please take good care of yourself. Depression, as you probably know, can be a very serious condition.

Pheromones most definately use up neurotransmitters, but based on the way depression meds normaly work I don’t think it would affect them.

Many depression meds are SSRI’s They block the reuptake of seratonin creating higher longer lasting levels. This increases dopamine and noroponephrin (sp?), and also tends to make people less empathetic or disconnected and emotionless.

If anything the meds would block, be neutral, or enhance pheromone self effect depnding on how the body processes that pheromone, but the pheromone won’t interfere with the medication.

I’d stay away from A1 and IFM though.

For example, if SSRIs block reuptake of seratonin, and perchance certain pheromones use up seratonin, then the net effect would be to lower seratonin levels despite the action of the medication. This would interefere with the effect of the medication. Now, I have no idea if this really happens, but you and many others assert “Pheromones most definately use up neurotransmitters” and it may be true.

Drug interactions are not always easy to predict on a theoretical basis. That’s why extensive studies are done on them. It is conceivable that drug/pheromone interactions may also not be easily predictable.

A doctor would probably be cautious when adding a new experimental drug to a depressed patient’s regimen, because there would be little data on potential interactions.

Pheromones are a developing technology and not well understood. I advise caution and restraint when advising people being treated for mental illness.

He said it was filtered out, so I am just putting it out here so that if anyone needs it, then can use the knowledge!

If it helps out at all, I am taking Lexapro, 15 Mg each day!

A doctor would now best…agreed, but if a pheromone boosted seritonin it would only make you feel better, then the medicine would keep that seritonin in circulation. It wouldn’t be possible to lessen the effectiveness of the medicine by using a pheromone that would boost seritonin if they do in fact do that.

You’re not hearing me. I guess I can live with that though.

Nah man…I understand, but I’ve been on 5 different ssri’s 1 antiphsycotic (i’m not physcotic, it’s just what they tried to put me on to regulate chemicals) and 2 different mood stabilizers.

It’s realy hard to fuck them up except for 1 mood stabilizer which I’m on currently. It’s realy unstable, but it works wonders. It likes to react with EVERYTHING. It doesn’t even hold a consitant half life. It could be 4 hours or 72hrs. Pheromones don’t seem to effect it at all. I don’t think they work in the same way (drugs and pheromones that is)

I do understand your point though. In fact what you said is something to be strongly considered. They could effect it, but from personal experience they normaly increase your mood when affected by some other stimuli. They don’t realy work backwards much.

Cool. I see you are talking from experience.

I watched my first wife spiral from depression to more serious mental illness, exacerbated by drug usage.

My current wife is a medical professional with prescriptive authority.

Take care.
