Agarscents sells the Dehn Black Musk that has notes of Vanilla and Licorice. It is slightly spicey and slightly vanila-ee and of course musky. I have some and a little goes a long way.
Angel has notes of choclate and coffee. it is the grand daddy of all gourmand perfumes. Its kinda like walking into a pastry shop and a starbucks at the same time and mix that with a little perfuminess. It is consider one of the greatest and most original perfumes ever made and is a classic but for me I cannot wear it. Yes denec is right it is very sweet. I love how it smells just not on me.

Revivia, I understand that you own the attar version of the agar musk black. I also understand that Attar is basically essential oil made from rose petals. Is yours very floral? Is it more masculine or feminine or unisex? My musk is definitely unisex. I think I’ll order a sample of the attar when I make my next purchase, since I’m curious about comparing both. From my understanding, the attar is less expensive because the musk and oudh is cut with sandalwood and flower oil, which are cheaper to make. they both look like the same shade, so I’m definitely curious about that one. Whats your take on it?
Silly Kitty. Another Frag I’d recommend for you is Musk Ravageur. Its the sexiest smell on a woman. Ever. Agar Musk Black (w/ Cambodian Oudh) is definitely unisex, and I can definitely see a woman wearing it. But Musk Ravageur is slightly more feminine. And I’ve worn Musk Ravageur. Its too feminine for me to pull off, but GOOD GOD, if a woman wore this stuff… I’d tie her up and put whip cream on her body. Given it was consensual, of course. It just screams kinky sex, like getting it on in the kitchen, while cupcakes and gingerbread cookies are baking in the oven. Just picture what that would smell like. The only thing about it is that its not dark and mysterious like the agar musk black. Musk Ravageur is sweet, playful, and kinky.
Also, for you perfumers out there, I found a website that you might find to be very helpful. It gives an extensive list of notes, and tells you which designer perfumes contain each particular note (which might help you with your recipes) and it tells you where you can buy each note or products containing that note. I’ll be making a men’s and women’s frag, and this website has helped me solidify my recipes.

Also, I highly recommend bergamot as a note. Its a natural deodorant, natural antidepressant, and great for your skin. If you’re going to use it in your recipe, make sure its perfume grade. Normal bergamot EO is too harsh on the skin, and can actually change your pigmentation. Bergamot oil thats perfume grade is listed as “Bergaptene Free” which is a process that removes the chemicals that are harsh on your skin. Food for thought.
i have a sample of the dhen musk black, and i’m assuming its the agar musk black without the oudh, correct? both have the licorice and vanilla notes. Agar musk black is just more complex and less animalic.

Sorry if I’m hijacking the thread Doc but you’re exactly right on the makeup of the musk black attar. It has pronounced sandalwood sig with the flower oil being rose. There also seems to be a spice of some sort in there but fairly little oud note. Just offering that up.
btw a friend of mine from basenotes has been testing the new ajmal musk and here is what he had to say
I am beginning to think that AA Indian Pure Musk Ghazelle will go well with any of the ‘notorious’ scents. So far Yatagan, Kouros and Parfum d’Habit have all passed with flying colors. I may have to try Miel de Bois, Tar and Nostalgia next!
I own Musc Ravageur and can pull it off as a man in fact have got great compliments as well…in fact the same lady who thinks Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille smells great on me also loves Musc Ravageur as well..MR is awesome…I have got a lot of comments like who smells yummy around here…but one thing is for certain be careful with the trigger one time i sprayed 4 times…and that was too many times, i almost knocked out the entire train…i found 2 times is the sweet spot
btw musc ravaguer is really a misleading name…it really does not have musc in it IMO

Ah HA! Now i how some of the REAL Misk Ghazelle on the way! Well, at least the stuff that Denec swears by. I’ve heard this one is supposed to smell sweeter and more woodsy? Should be good, by my books. Oh, and if you’re looking for AA Musk Ghazelle, i’d be willing to sell that now since i need cash to pay for my cologne habits.

Nope, haven’t been drinking. I contacted Aoud Queen from Basenotes from the thread you’d posted earlier, as i was curious if she’d found some of the older Musk Ghazelle. I’d PM’d her earlier, but she only had the newer formula that i’d already gotten from Simon. Turns out she found some of the older formula in another city from an Ajmal supplier about a day or two ago. So i ordered a 3mL bottle of it from her.
That was my victory bragging. But since i HAVE been buying alot of colognes recently, i was saying i’d be willing to sell off the AA Musk Ghazelle extra that i have (i bought 12mL of it, so i’d be willing to part with 6mL) to help recoup some of the cash i’ve been sending out into the world.
Sorry if my excitement got away with me. Oh, did you grab some of that as well, Denec, or just gonna be happy with what you have left over?

no i did not grab any…i still have 2/3 bottle left…so i am not dieing for any..if any comes my way I will pick it up but i am not desperate

I am still waiting for my new Musk to get here should be here this week or next…and if it is animlic as people say it is i am going to try layering it with different perfumes and see what i can come up with
