saw someone posted on this in another thread, coincides with my experience.
picked up some creed original vetiver over the weekend. i blame snoopyace for making a hell of a mix with it. the saleslady at the store was very nice and knowledgeable about fragrances. we get to discussing my tastes and she recommends a new creed: aventus.
i’ll spare you the details that you can find with a simple web search. go check it out too; it apparently has an extravagant design plan (components, etc).
echoing the question from the original thread: has anyone tried this yet? it’s a US-first release, uncommon for creed, that should be coming out late july / early aug. i walked away with a tester of it and also sprayed some on my hand for the road.
it’s a very smooth fragrance. thing like vetiver are kinda mossy and organic, “aqua” colognes have their own characteristics, citrus colognes are tangy, etc.
this is smooth, like a glass table. good top notes of bergamot. i’m not too familiar with blackcurrant so i can’t say much on that. dries down into a leathery patchouli. base note is musky and warm.
i think this fragrance defines the position and hard work of a man. i could see a 20something year old guy pair it up with a suit on his first day of work at a big corporation, and it would also feel right at home on an older man enjoying dinner at a nice restaurant.
when i wear this i get lots of status hits, even going phero naked. if i pair it with a314 it is the utmost definition of status. if i layer it with creed’s silver mountain water, it becomes a social status feel. if i layer it with original vetiver, it is almost always highly sexually charged.
Kind of a funny story… I got a decant of Aventus from The Perfumed Court, and I really liked it. Only problem is that I laid it on my computer desk and didn’t fully plug the vial with the stopper. A little bit leaked out. Now, at the time, I was playing the computer game Mafia 2 on and off and could smell Aventus pretty strongly at the time from the drippage.
End result? Aventus will forever remind me of the Mafia.
I actually used Aventus the other day as a cover for 2 drops A314. I really do believe that the cover scent you use on pheros can influence the direction that the particular phero you are using, takes.
On the same 2 drops of A314 (in my experience), covering with:
Eau Sauvage: A very successful businessman. Even though I know nothing much about business, I feel like a company CEO. Classic gentleman.
Dior Homme: A younger version of the above. Like some dot.com billionaire. If you remember a film called Exit Wounds (with Steven Seagal), there was a young black hyper rich dot.com billionaire as one of the main characters. You feel a little like this guy.
Tiffany for Men: I feel like royalty. Literally. Like someone of the higher classes.
Aventus: Like the desert prince - “a mysterious prince of the desert, gorgeous and powerful, invisible and ever-present, he gives riches with his generous hand and blessed are those who meet him”
