Creed Sampler

Never let it be said that I don’t try.

Many of you seem to have a love affair with Creed, so you’ll be happy to know that I have a small collection of 1ml samples and I will be trying them out with an open mind. I’ve really only tried the Green Irish Tweed and it was good, but unremarkable. I reserve the right to try again and change my mind.

The truth of the matter is that I was ordering samples that weren’t available from the Perfumed Court, so I tried Parfum Raffy and they threw in the sample set from Creed for free. It seems thats something they are doing right now, so if you are so inclined, you can likely get them as well.

Yes many of us love at least one or two from their range. Most of the Creed line are so easy to wear and enjoy, even the ones I do not prefer I could wear them.

What samples do you have?

Himalaya - Has a cool clean white musk scent

Original Vetiver - A very green citrus, summer in a bottle.

Millesime Imperial - Golden creamy opulence. fresh melon aquatic

Imperial Santal - Like joop and Reflection, the daddy of them. Lol

Virgin Island Water - Lot of coconut, smells like a malibu cocktail.

Tabarome Millesime - Old world tobacco mango accord. Evokes 1950’s.

Silver Mountain Water - Nice blackcurrent scent coming from its composition.

Will be interested on your take on the various samples of the Creed range you have.

I have samples of:

Royal Scottish Lavender
Himalaya
Royal Delight
Green Valley
Royal Water
Chevrefuille Original
Acier Aluminum
Milesmine Imperial

It’ll take a while, but I’ll let you know how they strike me.

I tried the sample of Creed Bois Du Portugal that I bought with the Basenotes samples. It is the best scent from Creed so far. I really like a lot. Bottleworthy, without question.

Can anyone tell me why every scent I like is $100+?

I have a full bottle of Creeds Boi Du Portugal and it is a excellent scent especially during th winter. It does open with a sharp lavender scent that takes a while to get used to. Then it drys down with a great smoky woody fragrance, you can also layer a lot of other scents with this to make your own scent.

All the best scents from Creed, Bond, Amouage and Fredrick Malle all cost a small fortune. Its best to look for a deal around the net. Have you tried original vetiver, its a citrus summer in a bottle scent?

There are so many colognes and I have so little money…

What are your recommendations, Tommy, for Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer colognes.

Right now I am using GIT, but it doesn’t seem like a fall/wintry scent so I am leaning towards B D Portugal or Tabarome Millesime. I would like to get Tom Ford’s TVanille but $180 is way over my budget.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Soccerdale

Nice to hear from you the last time we spoke on this forum I was trying out all the excellent Creed range of fragrances. I have been on a journey exploring other niche fragrance houses since.

First up if you go to the Perfumed Court website you can get decants of most of the following at a price you can afford. As buying full bottles of the scents you like are expensive as there are so many.

My line up for the Fall/Winter are:-

Creed Boi Du Portugal - Very smoky woody fragrance that is loud but has a great drydown.

Burberry london - This one really does evoke the fall and Christmas for me with tobacco/leather and a boozy port wine smell. Now this one does not last that long and the sillage is average but the scent is quite cheap and it smells good.

Musc Ravageur: I love this one but can survive with small samples as one spray to the chest lasts most of the day for me. See my review, great sweet oriental.

Tobacco Vanille - Denec has been singing the praises of this one for a long while and after buying a full bottle I can see why. Its a sublime scent for the winter. As its expensive its best to purchase a decant or obtain a sample. Again one spray of this divine scent lasts most of the day for me so a sample will go a long way.

For Spring/Summer I like Creeds Original Vetiver and Creeds Millisime Imperial. Both are excellent for when the weather is warm or hot as they have that straight from the shower into the Summer sun feel to them. And you feel clean and fresh and of course smell great.

I find I can wear Creeds Himalaya all year round as it has a cool white peppery musk that is clean and fresh.

The rest of the time I experiment with samples. I have a sample box where I try to find vials from different houses like Amouage and wear them to shake up my fragrance rotation. Its good for finding out what you like and do not like as some of the niche scents can be challenging to wear. Like Serge Lutens Kublai Khan for example.

I hope this helps and I’m sure others will have good recommendations as well.

I actually do have TF TVanille, Musc Ravageur and Amouage Jubilation in my shopping cart at Perfumed Court – just itching to click “BUY”

I’ll try Burberry London, also.

Thanks

I haven’t tried it yet.. So many to try right now.

I am wearing the Bois du Portugal again today. Really nice, love the woodsy notes. What has happened to my nose? I think it is trying to bankrupt me. I still like many more common colognes, but the ones that I want to actually buy are always damn expensive.

I finally clicked “BUY” and now they are on their way.

…and I can see what you mean Vaccine… I am getting addicted to smelling real good, especially when I am getting complimented all the time…

Well, let’s just say I have had problems with my current order from the Perfumed Court.

First, I received Amouage Jubilation, I love the scent, but the bottle was only 3/4 full.

Then (since I have now received Tobacco Vanille), Musc Ravageur was sent back, according to the USPS website, because of an address issue.

Lastly, Tobacco Vanille is divine, the bottle was filled up just below the top, but, the spray top was broken during shipment. They didn’t bubble wrap the bottle, just put it in some crappy styro-foam pouch.

I have ordered a 2.5 Bottle of Bois Du Portugal – it has been hard finding it cheap anywhere. I didn’t get it cheap – paid $120. I guess I am set for the winter now, I hope…

Sorry to hear you have had problems with the perfumed court I hope it gets sorted. Glad you like the scents and tobacco vanille is a divine scent really comforting to wear.

I also have a 2.5 oz bottle of Boi Du Portugal and it is a great smoky woody fragrance with one of the best imo drydowns in colognes. I hope you eventually get your bottle of Musc Ravageur as thats a nice sweet scent to.

Wow.

Sorry to hear that. I have bought from TPC many times and nothing like that has happened to me.

Was the Jubilation a decant? Could that be why it wasn’t full? I have bought decants and they haven’t been to the top of the bottle. Just asking.

Musc Ravageur was good, but with the Tobacco Vanille and the Bois Du Portugal, you won’t miss it.

I’ve had lots of samples before, too, so I knew that Jubilation was “lower” than normal in the bottle.

The USPS retried today so I did get the Musc Ravageur (filled properly and spray top not broken from the looks of it) – will try tonight at work.

Is there a way I can take off the top of one of my old samples and put it on the Tobacco Vanille (the top comes off and that’s how I get to it since it doesn’t spray)? It seems to me they are on there pretty good and tight.

The top should come off then you can swap the broken top with the good one as long they are the same size. Otherwise you may want to get a pipette from a drugstore should only cost a few dollars. You the know the one you get in eye drops with the rubber end.

Then carefully use it to transfer the juice to a working atomizer been really careful. You do not want to spill that precious tobacco vanille as its expensive stuff.

Tommy, you can get the tops off the decant bottles? I tried and gave up as I thought I’d just break the bottle. I’m talking about the 1.5ml/2.5ml bottles. How do you do it?

Good old elbow grease usually works for me otherwise you may want to try a small pair of pliers. Just be very careful and give it a twist and a pull.

The Perfumed Court is taking care of me and sending another Tobacco Vanille out… whoo hoo.

Should I prevent air from hitting the damaged bottle of Tobacco Vanille?
