I’m 29, East Coast, get the joys of working in the cube farm every day and maybe a glimmer of hope each day to see the sun. I’m the youngest of 4 boys and have been described as the alpha of the bunch or a man’s man?? Think they’re the same thing, both by multiple women that know the fam and at different events. I’m out going, can strike up a conversation anywhere with anyone and don’t have any issues breaking the ice usually unless I read the person is closed off or just has a ‘screw off’ vibe naturally. Talking women has never really been an issue, maybe because I pick up body language easier than some or just a confidence thing from being the youngest. I’m not sure.
So why am I here… while most members I see on the forum are looking to make social interactions easier no matter the setting. So with either the vibe I give or maybe personality, at work mainly, people seem somewhat standoffish or not receptive? Like they go into the conversation knowing they’re just going to get through it and be done. I don’t try to be overly aggressive or assertive at work. Yeah, I agree with Conjurator. That’s a weird situation you got there. It seems your personality doesn’t quite jive with the workplace culture.

You know whats worse is from a numbers standpoint and work history I am in the top 5 performers at work. So I have recognition from the company but just not the individuals.

Most of the job entails working alone, but there are team projects and meetings all the time. If feel like I work fine with others, no one has ever said anything. I do my work and help out everyone else if they are behind. I guess it might be possible? I never received any feedback either way though. I have a review coming up, Ill ask about it for sure.
