OMG, I just went to the bank where some daytime talk show was playing on the big screen behind the tellers. There was this white haired old lady singing and dancing about in the audience. The sound was barely audible so I moved around abit to strain to hear what she was singing…then those unmistakable eyes came into view just as I made out the music-“OHH girls just wanna have fuh-un, Yes girls just wanna, they just waa-anna” .
It’s official then, I need to start worrying about social security and nursing home insurance.
It has nothing to do with the way she looks - what is frightening is when I think how far back that was - we are talking vinyl.
I think my kids know what a record album is. Only cause the have seen a couple of mine …
Heck they don’t even have much use for CDs. Its downloads and MP3s.
And I have to admit - I am not much better. Most of the albums are carefully stored and the CDs have all been ripped and mostly collect dust. I just plug my ipod into the car and I am off …
I was 22 and in the Air Force, but playing Marine training on the Ground Launched Cruise Missile in the Arizona desert! This was before we signed the Intermediate Range Missle Treaty, before the Berlin Wall came down and Germany was re-unified, and before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
I remember back when it was reel-to-reels, which was before cassettes and 8-tracks. I remember the first reel-to-reel video recorder, the first microwave oven, nuclear bomb excersizes in school, Vietnam and Nixon resigning.
It’s a different world now, it is! God I feel old.
Yep, me too! Don’t do much crazy shit anymore, but as a kid I thought I was invincible.
Actually I usually feel like a kid, until I start thinking about all the shit I remember that the younger folks never experienced, then I it brings me back to just how old I am!
Come on Tisha, come up with an age reversing spell already, would ya?
Saturday night i went to a party…, mostly populated with under twenty fives in fancy dress lol.One girl was dressed as a chicken another run around in her panties (they had bells attached to them lol)
…ok im around mid-twenties people quite a bit because my gal is that age too, this time however my friend Andrew was with us (hes 42)…he started off in good spirits enjoying himself but then he kept harping on about how old he is now lol
It seems a lot of guys my age once they reach 40 start thinking their life is over…sheesh. They start imaging how great it was to be young.
Personally i dont think my life is any worse now than it was at twenty five, actually its better!
It’s called middle age, for God’s sake…not old age…sheesh…is right. I have friends like that too. I pretty much tell ‘em to quit their whinin’ and have some fun. Tell your buddy, to quote Jon, “Shut the uck fup!”… put on some bells, a thong, and dance like a chicken. Then take one of those lovely young ladies home and do the Monkey Dance. And if he needs help…show him how.
Me too. I think that I still have a "young " spot in my brain, as well as my heart…it helps to keep me that way…aaaand there is that other spot, too. Most people are surprized when they find out I’m older than dirt…lol. Because I neither look nor act “old”. I think people can’t help but percieve you as old if you think and act that way. Personally, the only thing I miss about being young…is my body…lol. I still have a pretty good one…thank you Jesus…but it ain’t my twenty year old one…that’s fo’ shizzle. Anyways, it hasn’t gotten me kicked outta bed yet! Listen, baby, as long as I can still get my legs in the air and Lil’ Elvis and The Band are still playin’…I’m good to go…try 'n stop me.
See what happens when you leave us alone too long, renny? Pherotalk never sleeps…
Yeah the old adage “your as old as you feel” is pretty true after all.
If you are not constantly thinking of the past, (reminiscing all the time) and you can still be spontaneous then you feel young and that comes through to others.,
Yes i did encourage him to chase one of those ‘young ladies’… he did too! Though to no avail unfortunately..hes not a lost course yet.
Jeez people! Don’t have a cow here. I was just blowing off a little twinge of mortality. I agree Cyndi usually makes the fab fifties look awesome…just not yesterday. There are some clothes and some hairstyles that do not look good on anyone at any age. What she was wearing on whatever show I saw her on made her look seventy-ish.
Maybe the nursing home crack was a little over the top. Hmmm, how old are the “Glimmer Twins” now anyway?
I have one, it involves being skyclad in the back yard during the new moon and sacrificing Bond to Aphrodite
Everybody in
I could cast a glamour but that would be against the rules LOL
I always thought that was the original name of Ishine before they realized it was awesome for more then youthfulness.
Seriously though, Bella is right, age is a state of mind, Nature provided us with everything we need to keep looking young and healthy, we just don’t utilize it much.
Man - a lot of us not old but not 20-something anymore spent some time in uniform.
That is the truth.
Dude - I remember all that too.
I know the feeling. And I can name a few times when I came close. VERY close. And that excludes Mrs. BH - lol!!
Yep - know that feeling too. I just try to pass on “lessons learned” as best I can.
Amen to that brother. I saw one this weekend. My eyes and brain have barely recovered. That could actually be part of a post I need to make.
Poor bond - he has talked himseof into a hole. Sooner or later after one of these new moons - the silence will be deafening.
But then again we will all stay young forever so what the heck. Easy come, easy go. Nice knowinya kid.
My only bosshank advice at this point is … if Tisha shows up at your door … check the calendar … and don’t let her mix you any drinks … I would say Run. Fast. but her “baby” looks faster …
J/K bond - you know we would never even think of doing anything like that …
