"Pet" Useful Pheromones?

Hello, all! I just thought about something interesting: is it possible to make pheromone sprays to use with your pets?

I DON’T mean for anything dirty - I am talking about something like A314 but much stronger, and for, for example, you to train your dog.

A lot of pets are very wild and, sometimes, not obedient. I have to say right now that I love animals and I don’t mean that all pets should be robotic but some of them (like my dog) just won’t listen. For instance, when I walk my dog and she sees someone on a bike, for some reason she flips out! One time she got so close that she almost got hit by the biker. I try to train her to stay away from them, among other things (sit, lay down, roll over, shake hands, etc.) but she doesn’t listen. I have tried many techniques, all of which involve a reward of some kind (food) but as soon as she sees the candy she smells my hand and doesn’t do anything besides try to get her reward.

I am going off topic here. What is everyone’s opinions on pet pheromones? Dogs (lets use them as an example) have a much better sense of smell than humans, so I would assume they’re pheromone detectors (excuse me for forgetting the name) are more sensitive as well. Wouldn’t it be possible to make a pheromone for deep respect that would make the dog a little more obedient or something?

You don’t need pheromones here just learn to become the Alpha of the pack, suppose maybe A314 may help you with that.

It is being the leader that give you control over a dog, and no this does not require beating but it does require setting boundaries.

Do you allow your dog to walk in front of you when going out of door or down stairs, does your eat before you, do you give your dog attention right away if you have not seen them for a period of time or ignore them?

If do any of the above you not the pack leader, a dog is not a human or child substitute it is a dog and needs to be treated like a dog.

Check out the TV series Dog Whisper who teaches people to become pack leaders.

Another good show to for dog training (even though it has a dumb title) is ‘Its Me Or The Dog’.

I don’t own a dog but whenever I go to a clients house who does I amaze them with my ability to control their pets.

I guess I just love my dog too much to play the dominant role =/ I’m a softie, what can I say?

That is fine but then you have to accept that you won’t have a dog that does as you want.

It is not about love, you can still love you dog and be pack leader in fact if you don’t become pack leader your dog can become un-happy as it becomes confused and unsure as to its role especially if is not an alpha dog by nature. If it is an alpha dog by nature you end with an aggressive and dangerous dog.

A dog is not a human and transferring your human emotion onto it will create problems, dogs live in the moment, they don’t sulk for ages when told they can’t do something.

Enjoy your dog but it is a dog not a human.

There ARE pheromones for cats and dogs I don’t know about the dog one but the feliway is uber helpful for vet trips and whatnot.

To train a dog you don’t really have to be mean you just have to be consistent and firm.It depends on what the issue is how you deal with the problem. I hope the links help.

Thank you very much, Electra! I didn’t even know they actually existed!

Feliway is actually catnip

Lol I own feliway the reaction is very different than catnip although I would say perhaps catnip exudes a plant pheromone similar to a feline pheromone. Catnip is like a high anol dose for us maybe whereas Feliway is like b-nol.

Feliway is a 10% analogue of feline facial pheromones.and 90% ethanol.

I wonder if all the mammal animals would have any considerable reaction to use wearing pheros around them. If that were possible perhaps we could tame or at least subconsciously subdue tigers lions and such to a degree where we wouldn’t be putting ourselves in too much danger by doing expositions with them.

So who is first to volunteer for this experiment :open_mouth:

One of these days I’m going to load up on 5 or 6 drops of A314 and see what the bears do.

I’ve noticed the same thing that jayarea posted in his journal regarding A314 (androsterone in general) and how animals get very deferential. I have had on IG as well as P95 and A314 at various times and animals LOVE me but see me as the alpha.

Snoopy my experience is exactly the same as yours. My dog (and other dogs I’ve been around) reacts more to rone than any other pheromone I’ve happened to be wearing around her. I’ve seen my dog react to rone countless times, but I can’t recall a single time she’s ever reacted to any other pheromone other than rone. Which is weird as I’ve read - I think on wikipedia - that rone is a human only pheromone. She reacts to Ammo, Instant Gentleman, A314 and, like you mentioned p95 (which I’m pretty sure is just straight rone)

Pheromones will not help train your dog or make him/her behave. Just like with humans they will not effect free will. If its the dogs will to chase then they will chase pheromones or not. People tend to forget that animals (all of them) even pets are wild. They have there own free will that may not match that of the person they partner with.

Tisha

I’ve used pheromones with my foster kittens. We were once fostering very feral kittens who had previously NO human contact whatsoever. We used an electronic diffuser that apperently used pheromones that mimicked those of a lactacting queen. Withen 15 minutes, the kittens were playing and purring, and actually acting like normal social cats!!

We do know that dogs (and cats?) will freak out at TUTH or other high doses of androstenone.
