Pheromones and the stimulation of facial hair growth

Guys,
I wont give a scientific demo or give a technical reply, but from what I know, as the mones increase the testosterone production, it also increase the hair lost (I mean in the scalp!)
Of course in my case a 100% skin head, I can’t certify that !! but I guess in general culture, alopesia and male baldness is not only due to genetic Baldness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well, of course, this is not for scare people, as every body react differently but, it might explain some cases.

Diane you sound like my brother can you please translate into Tisha talk for us LOL Your talking sexual stimulation, not hair growth correct ?

It hasnt been proven that Anone increases testosterone levels so you hair should be fine

I just saw a news article talking about giving children with hypertrichosis (Werewolf Syndrome) testosterone injection to cure the condition. Weird, huh?

Pheromones are very big, very heavy molecules, especially Androstenone.

I’ll try. The study quoted in the 3rd post was shown to be flawed, inadequate, and its findings were insignificant. I felt these were important things to know about the study that was being quoted and linked.

The quote is about Androstenone. This paragraph (below) was the basis for the study that was linked in the same post.

They wanted to test if Androstenone could be a pheromone:

Because of Androstenone’s reported effect (from Atzmüller) of lowering testosterone, they wanted to test to see if exposure to androstenone would cause behaviors in men that are social in nature, like working harder, faster, or better, for the whole:

As for what was written below (if that is what you are referring to above), I wasn’t talking about hair or sexual stimulation. I was talking about the study that was linked in this (3rd) post:

The study was about Androstenone and its potential influence on task performance (to show social facilitation behavior) and the potential for chemiosignal (pheromonal) processing in humans - that’s all.

Since the study was linked in this post thread, and many people don’t like wading through a whole study and might take the hypotheses from the study as fact, I thought I’d just provide a shorter synopsis (summary).

The study showed possible trends, but statistical analysis showed the trends could be caused by something else and that Androstenone did not overly influence social behavior in terms of social facilitation (helping/striving). There were some differences in the groups exposed to Androstenone and the groups not exposed to Androstenone. But the differences were statistically insignificant. And that means any number of factors could have influenced or caused the difference, like the time of day (how long until lunch?), or other factors not controlled or accounted for in the study design.

The study was very flawed, and the authors discussed that. What this means is that the study as it was designed and carried out could not support or rule out it’s hypotheses.

Diane

Is that any clearer?

Diane

This is something we could test here:

  1. Does repeated use of androstenone lower testosterone?

  2. Does repeated use of androstenone around other men make you be more social with them and get along better?

  3. Does repeated use of androstenone lower your aggression level and your sex drive?

Those three things were suggested by the unpublished study done in Vienna.

But we can’t see the study because it is unpublished, so there is no way to know how it was conducted, or how the authors formed their conclusions, or if the controls were adequate, or how or if the data were statistically analyzed.

There are a lot of unanswered questions:

How much androstenone were the men in the study exposed to?

How did they know androstenone exposure lowered testosterone levels? Did they have controls in place to rule out other factors that might influence testosterone production?

Did they take baseline blood draws before androstenone exposure and do further blood draws and testosterone assays during or after androstenone exposure? How much did the testosterone levels drop? Was it significant?

Why wasn’t the study published?

The only real piece of data give was the exposure time - 15 minutes.

Without more information there’s no way to answer any of these questions, and so for me, the unpublished study is very suspect. And because the unpublished study was the basis for the hypotheses in the follow-on study, I’m not surprised that the data came back as insignificant.

Diane

Thank you, I know that took some work on your part but it did make the study more clear and understandable. Sometimes those abstracts can give me head pain LOL

Some good ideals for testing.

How could we tell without medical testing ? Is there other indications ?because I cant see people paying for testing.

The other questions are good perhaps a poll of some sort for each one asking the long time users to respond.

Tisha

Well, you are right. Without lab testing we can’t prove or disprove testosterone is being lowered. But we can test the social effects that might point towards potential lowering of testosterone.

Three effects of lower testosterone in men are lowered aggression, lower sex drive, and more comfort/ease with other males.

We could look and see if these effects are supported by users of Androstenone.
