Last week I joined a dating website. Never done such a thing before, but I hope that at least I can have a couple of dates out of it in the future. Part of a dating profile is a couple of nice pictures of yourself. To help me decide which one to make the primary picture, I uploaded one to a picture rating website. I actually knew only one of the kind, hotornot.com , I stumbled across it a couple of years ago. So I gave that one a try.
Now for the weird part. As of now 39 people have rated me. My Rating:
9.9
You are hotter than 99%
of men on this site!
39 people have rated you
At first this was kinda flattering, but now it made me start to think this whole deal has to be some sort of scam. I am definately not a 9.9. I have worked a lot on my body lately and groom myself well. Currently I consider myself a 7 (most people consider themselves a 6,5-7 I read somewhere).
Any of you have any experience with these kind of rating websites? Is this some kind of fake thing?
30 pics takes what, a few minutes? Besides, I thought that for guys they put it in rotation long enough to get a couple hundred votes.
Here’s an idea I just had
Go to myspace (easier to do this than it would be on facebook)
do a general search for women that fit the description of the kind of women you like…age, ht, ethnicity etc. Then send them all copy and past messages with the link you included asking for an unbiased rating of your pic. Assure them that it will be anonymous so they can be as brutally honest as they want.
This way your results are more targeted to the type of women you yourself would be interested in possibly even in your immediate area.
That said…I still worry about you bro, this tells me you’re still focusing on your looks and are still not confident about that part of your life.
You are right Rad, rating 30 pics isnt a lot of hard work. But I only get 3-4 votes per 2 hour rotation, so I cannot neglect rating others.
I saw someone favourited me ! Too bad it is a dude
The MySpace thing sounds like a good idea. But this might work better when using a dutch/local social networking site. I will look into it !
About the confidence. I am slowly trying to build it. If one feels like the ugly duckling for 3/4 of their life, it is pretty hard to do a mental 180 on this kind of thinking. This doesn’t keep me from making strides and moving forward though ! Somewhere on this forum I believe, I saw someone define confidence as: the feeling you can achieve certain things, because you successfully managed to achieve them in the past. Well, nothing has been achieved in the past, so I am still trying to kinda fake stuff. But the big difference between now and the past, is that today I am actually making a commitment to ‘achieve’ certain aspects in life.
Thanks Rad for your input, as always ! I will send you a PM back.
Actually if your looks are that big of a concern here’s something you may want to try that I think would work awesomely for you on numerous levels.
Take some modeling classes. I don’t know what the situation is like where you are but in the states there’s modeling schools in most large cities. They’re not modeling jobs so how you look doesn’t determine if you get in. They’ll teach you how to take care of your skin, what sort of hairstyle is best for your hair type and face shape, give you fashion advice on how to dress in a way that’s both stylish and fits your personality, they’ll work with you on your posture and body language. Many modeling schools also have voice training so you can train yourself to speak in a loud and confident manner.
Best of all most of these schools have a student body that’s like 80% female or more. So you’re working on looking your best, dressing your best, and possibly building a social network with a large number of attractive women…even if you don’t date any of them it’s social proof like you won’t believe to be seen with them. Having a social circle of super hot female model friends is a good thing no matter what, they can invite you to parties, introduce you to friends of theirs etc. Guys will pay you mad alpha worthy respect because you’re the guy that knows all the hottest women and can make or break a party.
In fact I’m a little disappointed in myself that I haven’t thought of this sooner as something I might do!
Radman: That doesnt sound like a bad idea. I googled for such a thing and so far I haven’t found anything yet. Sounds expensive also, so we will see. Thanks.
