You know i was watching the movie Predator 2,and there was something Kevin bacon was telling Danny Glover when they were tracking the alien.
he said
‘Here is the other world life forms pheromone signature’
???
Can such a thing be detected on cameras, even though this is a hollywood movie, so anything is possible, reality, can pheromones become visible with technology.
Utilization of Infrared vibrational spectroscopy in this scenario isn’t as far fetched from real life as it sounds. Assuming predator leaves behind an unusual (alien) chemical signature, one would be able to isolate and identify the molecules through their constituent chemical bonds.
Remember “pheromones” are essentially just chemical compounds used as a “non-verbal” “non-visual” etc form of communication. Too many seem to think of them soley in terms of “sexual.”
Don’t know if a “chemical aura cloud” could be detected by a “camera” though, much less quickly analyzed, especially if an unknown. I know there exist special “sniffers” used by natural gas companies etc for detecting leaks, but they are usually set to detect a single, known substance. Same with detectors for explosives (which can sometimes get confused by nitrogen fertilizers).
Plus “it’s a movie”! And that Ocean’s 13 pheromone probably doesn’t exist either, darn it…
Indeed just a movie. Sometimes its fun just theorizing as best you can to give it a bit of plausibility. Or wonder just how the screenwriter thought people would buy into this.
Cos the average movie goer hasn’t really got much intelligence, hence why the world is ruled by a secret society of the rich and powerful, and they use subliminal messeges to brainwash and misinform the tax paying public.
Well being in London you must live in Orwellian big brother central. Amount of cameras in that city is quite staggering. Illuminati brainwashing? Yeah I think you watched enough David Icke. Watch out for those evil shape shifting lizard people they’re coming to get you.
Then again… many of the new cool inventions we enjoy today were first thought up in fiction. Once an idea is created, once a concept gets formed, humans seem to find a way to make it reality.
Much of yesterday’s “science fiction” is today’s fact. I still get a kick out of reading old SF books where they are still using sliderules on the interstellar space ships, camers that have “built-in” chemical-based photo developing mechanisms that take minutes to produce a picture (the concept of a digital camera hadn’t been born yet).
I still get giggle out of Uhuru’s “Bluetooth” headset/earset on the old Star Trek series… Old? Hmmmm… that was “only” the 1960’s…
Gawsh, the next thing you know someone will be creating synthetic chemicals we can dab on to attract the opposite sex and/or influence people…
