Ron Paul!

Okay: better slogans:

“Don’t Change Dicks in the Middle of A Screw,
Vote for Nixon in '72!”

“Lick Dick” (ie Nixon)

Personally I want a candidate that supports all ammendments to the Constitution. Unfortunately none do. The Republicans want to do away witht he First Ammendment (including freedom from Religion - which includes freedom of choice, especially in regards to reproductive rights), and the Democrats want to take out the Second Ammendment (you need to support the whole ammendment, the Right to bear part, AND the “well regulated” part IMO).

Sadly, according to the last bit of research I did, Gulianni and Hillary were the two top candidates… <shudder>. Mr Paul was near the bottom of the list.

Oh it has been sooooo long since I was able to actually vote FOR a candidate rather than the “lesser of the evils”… (ie “against” the worst).

I’m thinking we do indeed need a third party choice in the US. Republicans and Democrats are just too similar.

My opinions.

The joke was (once upon a time) that at the putative USA-USSR summit, Nikita Khrushchev meeting with John F. Kennedy, it was time for lunch, and Kennedy decided to go way informal: everyone would order in deli.
Kennedy ordered a Western sandwich. When it got half way around the table to Khrushchev, he said “I’ll have the Eastern portion of your Western sandwich.”
All politics is personal, it cannot be escaped.

The notion of “doing away with the IRS” is so stupid it’s pointless to argue it. Taxes will be paid to the government. Some people will try to avoid paying in illegal ways. Some government agency will collect and enforce tax laws.

Whether they are called the IRS or not is immaterial, wouldn’t you agree?

My current hypothesis is that a vote for Ron Paul is like a vote for Ross Perot: cute but meaningless. Whatever his good intentions, running the executive government is about creating coalitions and negotiating with the legislature.

And I will admit, it’s much too soon for me to even consider voting for another person who identifies as a Republican, even if he says he’s really a (Libertarian) “true Republican.”

Meh!
